Lets see your fall decorations!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Oh Sally, thank you. You are so kind and also overly modest. I think that you have a lot of decorating talent, just yours is a little more under stated than mine. Kind of suits our personalities. tee hee

My holiday stuff is stored in my crawl space and on shelves in my basement. I desparately need to have a garage sale. Been saying that for 4 years, but I'm so busy in the garden, I just never set the time aside to prepare for it.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

we are going to have to start moving things into our crawl space soon.. running out of room... I usually buy a few things after halloween for next year.. nothing like the sales to get me buying

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Onewish, I stopped in at Joanne's Fabrics on the way home last night. All of the Halloween decorations are now 50% off. They had a lot. I picked this up to put on my front door.

This black cat will probably be just right for my front bed. He only has a prop in the back, not stakes. I picked up the supplies to have DSO make some stakes for him. That prop would never hold up in this wind.

I lost two large Maple limbs in yesterday's wind.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Oooops forgot the cat!

we lost a big limb yesterday too... knocked down the line we had between two trees for the squirrel food

love that cat!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks, It was dark when I got home. Didn't go out to check on the back and sides of the house. Last year I lost hugh limbs on the Maples along the road.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah it is that time of year... our power went on and off a few times yesterday

Leaves were evrywhere! making it look like fall. I had pulled a nice Brug out of the garden and potted it for some in house bloom time, but it was not amused at being blown over five times and probably didn't like the drying wind either. Lots of yellowing. I just hope to get the buds to bloom then let it go dormant. Lots of buds!!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

My deck is covered in leaves from just one day. Well, they are just more "Fall Decorations". Poor Brug.

Stormy I love your skeleton in post 7140217

I have more indoor decorations(for fall) than I do outdoor. I may have to do something about that.

Randy decorated this tree with all dollar store items

I made three of these... the whole thing cost me less than $7.00

WOOOOOOO Allison. That is really spoooooky. Your own personal haunted house!!! Is that a wizard down in the very front?

I love Randy's bride & groom. What is the figure 2 back from them (going towards the house)? How on earth did you get these all hung up there?

That was really smart making your own, they charge a fortune for this stuff and it's made from nothing.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Jen. That skeleton is a candle cage. The light glows out of his ribs and face. Got him a few years back at one of the Hallmark stores.

I love your teapot. That's just about the nicest one I've seen. Your mantle looks great. That will take you all the way through till Christmas.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the one in the front is a small skeleton that moves... we do have a few wizards to put out yet though... Stormy I am not sure if you mean the Frankenstein or the white skeleton

as for the hanging part... Randy is good.. he bought this heavy duty cable... and climbed a ladder to put the tow straps around the tree in the front...(covered in black tape so you can't see it).... ran it to the back of the property with a come along & pulleys ... and the reason I call him MacGyver

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

What's a spookfest without Frankenstein? He's my personal favorite. So scary when I was young and now so beloved.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

we have a 6 foot Frankenstein that talks... Randy has to fix his jaw though.. the wind knocked him over last year and it stopped moving... he says silly things like "I want candy"

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

When I was about thirteen, I had a big sleepover birthday party. My adult neighbor (who was kind of odd) knocked on the window --we peeked out--he had a Frankenstein mask on. Talk about freaking us out!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that would do it... I actually had a sleep over break up... because we had a manikin in the basement and the one girl freaked out after watching a horror movie about them

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

hee hee

Neighbors next to my friend is a mortician, he had a whole funeral service set up(with mourners-real people and everything) 2 yrs ago, with him lying in a coffin at the back end of their driveway, The candy bowl rested on top of the coffin so you had to reach over him to get the candy. 3 girls came up and he let the 1st 2 take the candy then they figured he was fake...hahahaha the last girl reaches over to get her candy and he reaches up and grabs her arm...they went running and screaming all the way down the road...oh my gosh it was hysterical! Then you hear them screaming again because a guy was dressed as Freddie with a chain saw at the other end of the block.
Rotfl!!!!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Poor kids probably had nightmares for months.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Eh, they were older like 15 or so. Serves 'em right I say... you're too old to be trick or treating, go get a job and buy your own stinkin' candy!!!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

LOL, You're a toughie, Jen!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yeah, you remember that!!!

^_^

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

My Cat and witch's hat are now up. The cat doesn't show up so well in the distance. Maybe next year I'll hang him on the wall over the garage and put something else in the bed.

I had to really anchor my lit pumpkin in front of the Birch. It blew all over the place in that storm.

Onewish, hope you get your Frankenstein working. I'd love to see that.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

me too.... thanks!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

light & music show worked out great... here are some previews

Allison, That is absolutely fantastic. Loved the Ghostbusters and Addams Family. Who was that singing in #5? You might want to add Witchie Woman, Sympathy for the Devil and That Old Black Magic!!
How about The Phantom of the Opera?? I'll bet you & Randy had a great time making all of that. I know I would.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

We're home and trying to catch up. I don't have any decorations out yet but will show them off as soon as they get unpacked from the attic.
Onewish, That is just fantastic. I can't even imagine how much time and effort you put into doing a display like that. It is a real show piece.
Jen, Your house is so nice and I love the decorations. Your mantel looks lovely and I love the tea pot.
Stormy and LadyG, you both have a really nice things and I too do the Halloween to fall trick. Just turn a few pumpkins around and and switch out the turkey for the ghoul and presto chango.
I'll get some pic's posted of our trip and visit with RCN. Her place is just wonderful. We had a great visit and hope to return so we can really do an extensive garden tour. It is so much fun to put all those pics she has posted over the years into the big picture of her lovely garden.

I am going to add more songs but I will tell you it took me 2 days to program I want candy... not full days... but as long as I could handle sitting still.. my guess is over the winter when I am board out of my mind... I did manage to find music from Nox Arcania.. very dark and some tracks really short and easy to program here is one song I used
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTUKdGDXc90

so far I did 20 songs.. half are those nox arcania ones

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Allison, Why does it take so long?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hhhmm how to explain this and not be a page long....

you have to program each line from the box (I have 16).. what to do.. when you want it to

so for the singing you have to actually turn the light on at that millisecond ... eh it might just be easier showing you.. here is a capture of my screen... it's the I want candy song

edit -- each of the vertical white lines... I have to add in for the start and end of each event
