Daily Pictures Volume #245

South Hamilton, MA

I though weasles were out at night--very interesting pictures. If the cat is smart it will leave a heron alone with that lethal bill.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

Can someone tell if this is a female or a juvy Goldfinch?

Beautiful shots everyone...and thanks for the new thread Gary. Those Rufous shots are read beauties!

The Weasels are so cute, I've never seen one.

Congrats on the new bird Marna...I've not seen one this year.

Here is one of our resident Bluebirds.

And an American Goldfinch...a juvie I think.

Hack...I'm not sure if yours is a juvie or not...I have a hard time telling the difference now as they are all changing so fast!

I was so mad that I did not get any good photos of this Black-throated Green Warbler....

Hey Nanny all my Robbins must be in your neck of the woods because I no longer see them here. Also, I hope to capture more photos of the warblers as they migrate back south. Nice variety everyone. I saw the Chicadees and the Titmouse today after a dry spell around here. And these guys and gals and youngens are back now...they were mia for awhile tending to family matters I suppose.

I snapped a few Bald Eagle shots today.

As soon as the eagle flew off, this male Belted Kingfisher landed in the same tree. They were the only two birds I photographed all day, and both in the same tree a couple of minutes apart.

Wonderful birds, terrific shots! I can only dream of the Eagles. The Belted Kindfisher must have just returned from fishing evidence by his wet feather. Whoa!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Nice ones!!

This Cardinal must be related to rose's One Feather...LOL!

YAY!!!!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Nice Bald Eagle! I've only seen 2 in my life, (both in cages).

Went to one of our county parks today, counted 51 swans.

All of a sudden, while watching a pair perform a 'dance', I found out where the 'heart' symbol comes from!

Fabulous hawk and I love the courting swans. I feel so lucky when I see that heart shape effect!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Marna, please send the Pileate WP this way. lol. Watercan2 nice catch of the swans during courtship. Dan, those hawks are beautiful. 24g, the Great Blue Herons are fun to watch; they're patient hunters for fish. I can watch them for hours on end. TBM, I too hope to see more warblers here too. Nan, you One-Feather look-alike looks as if he's some 'tude. lol. So cute.

Marlton, NJ

Congratulations Jay!

Great shots everyone!

On my way to Brigantine National Wildlife Reserve for the first time. :-)

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

Snapped two Goldfinch juvies coolin' it. I guess they're juvies, they weren't actively feeding like the two females in the next pic.

Congratulations on all the 'firsts' everybody. kniphofia that coot reminds me of a Hyacinth Bean seed, lol. Great photo!

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

They finally found my one little thistle sock. Well, at least one Goldfinch found it.

It's been out for a long time. They may have found it earlier, but since it isn't in the area of all my other feeders, I just noticed it today.

I'm thinking about buying a wire mesh thistle feeder, like the "yellow" one I saw in Methodical's post

Well the Starling's GPS found my place this morning! A great big flock of them landed on my lawn and neighbors lawn.
Here they are taking off, they didn't go far, far away..

Wait a minute! I saw a bunch of speckled birds like these TODAY. Let me get the SD card out of my camera and take a look. If mine are starlings, it'll be a first for me.

Be back in a minute.
