DAVE'S GARDEN COURIER SERVICE POLL

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

We need a state to state courier service! Which DGers are traveling from point A to point B who would be willing to courier a delivery? How about it Dave?

(Zone 1)

LOL ... can someone courier me from Florida to Hawaii?? Or, I'd even settle for a trip to the Smokies or Blue Ridge Mountains! ^_^

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I would like someone to courier me to the Kentucky roundup this weekend. ^_^

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Me, too, Joan! ^_^

Very Funny, Ya'll! I mean courier packages. ^_^ Although, that Hawaii hookup is kinda appealing!

(Zone 1)

A courier service is an interesting concept, but I wonder if many folks would be willing to take the responsibility of getting a package from one state to another. I'd be on pins and needles being in charge of someone else's plants.

Are you thinking of a "Courier Forum" where folks would post as to where they are going and then others would contact them through d-mail if they had anything going that way?

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

EXACTLY!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

One problem with that is that you'd be publicly posting when you'd be away from home. Yes, I know it could be "subscribers only" but that's still public enough to make me hesitant.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I personally would not want to carry packages from here to wherever and try to make connections with someone at the other end. We don't stick to a strict schedule when we travel. And what would someone do with a package if the recipient did not show at the appointed time?

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

So I guess that means truth, justice, and the American way really is just a comic book dream?...

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

No, it just means this might not be a practical idea.

If somebody was trying to get a package or a special plant to a particular city, they could post in their regional forum and also in the destination regional forum, to see if anybody could help out. Arrangements could then be made via Dmail.

On the other hand, I know there are networks used by people in various animal rescue organizations for couriering pets across the country, but I don't know how you'd set that sort of thing up for DG packages or plants.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

gg what was the point of it? To save money? If that is the case, I think the courier would spend more money in gas making the connection.

In answer to Critter's last post, people will go a lot farther for animals than they will for plants.
