...oh, and empty spaces are waiting on my order from Bluestone... and finding the right HOSTAS, Astilbes, a Viburnum, Oakleaf Hydrangia and an Azalea
New beds going in... need shady plant suggestions.
We have Bloodgood...what is the caution for Ken...???
Bloodgoods are alright but everybody has one. If you go to any nursery in east Texas that if just about all you will find. Fort Worth has Metro Maples and they have many different cultivars so why choose the same one everyone else has. I like variety.
I selected it because it would take a lot of sun and had the deep burgandy color. Guess where you live they are more prominent than here.
I did SEE some bloodgoods... they had a sale on them, even... many BIG ones for $25-$65. Pretty, but we wanted one that max's out at 6ft, and will mushroom over a big rock. We just love her!
That's why they have different kinds... something for every different taste~
METRO MAPLES ROCKS!
As I say Bloodgoods are alright and I have several but it is the most planted JM where I live and where you live. I spent most of my life in Fort Worth and worked for several years for Bill Davis, Cullen's brother. He also had Scott Fikes working for him who was once the curator of the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens. He created the Japanese Garden out of the old dump where workers for the city would put the cans that trees were planted in. In the Japanese Garden they used mostly Acer palmatums. I just enjoy seeing something different. TXMel I love the JM with the rock, it has the right look.
