Thanks so much for the information, Tropicbreeze. The ones you just posted do look a lot like mine. The bases on mine are really fat. I'll go do some research on C. pedunculatum. Thanks again.
Crinum Angustifolium
Just looking back at the photos, the one put up by DaleTheGardener as C angustifolium isn't a Crinum, looks more like Hymenocallis littoralis. Very similar looking, but if you look closely you'll see the difference in the flowers.
sorry claire, I thought I was in the daily tropicals thread.
This is fine with me, vossner. hehe
Tropicbreeze, I do see a difference in the flower now that you mention it, and I have seen that flower and thought it was a crium too. Very interesting that they are so similar.
Dan, your QE is fabulous.
Nery, thanks for posting that crium (and all the other awesome plants too). No need to apologize to me ever. Your plants are gorgeous! Here is a crinum that I bought at the nursery. It looks like the main stem was wacked, and new pups are coming in.
Thank you Clare... she is a beauty!
Terry, this is where I saw that the 'splendens' and 'Queen Emma' are the same, but perhaps it's not true: http://www.smgrowers.com/products/plants/plantdisplay.asp?plant_id=2846
I can't believe I just found this thread! I love crinums and my fav is Mrs. James Hendry, her scent is to die for. Foliage is just plain green but that scent is amazing and the best part is that the flower stalk is very tall so I just walk by and it is at nose level. I have seen Boolie up on his hind legs sniffing it.
This site has a lot of info on the different crinums. Nery, is this place near you?

Kell, I too have gotten into cordylines this year. Have you seen this site? Unfortunately they won't ship to the states. Something about their government no longer subsidizing the regulatory inspection costs.

This is one of Carol's Ti's.
no, that near but I believe marcell is the #1 go to crinum person. There are others, I'm sure, but I don't consider anybody else.
Clare, check this one out http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.crinum.org/crinpics/pic/cr17.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.crinum.org/crinpics/ch_4.html&usg=__RKJNzbLN6pLTIRjUXtINZF0LgmI=&h=1645&w=1184&sz=1878&hl=en&start=4&tbnid=NUiDuINC4uzWXM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=108&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dqueen%2Bemma%2Bcrinum%2Bin%2Bhawaii%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG
go to fig. 17 they call QE a C. amabile, and this is a crinum org. so who knows!
Here is a picture of the Sangria that is blooming right now.
Although the prices are a little steep, Lush Life has nice bulbs too.

Alice, I'm starting to go crinum crazy! Thanks for sharing those links and for telling me about that must-have. I think I'm going to order it. You sold me on that one when you said that the scent is amazing.
Terry, thanks so much for pointing that out. I'm confused now, but it's okay. I'm always a little confused! LOL! Your 'Sangria' is so beautiful! I just love it and am so pleased that I have it.
Tropicbreeze, thank you so much for taking and posting those pictures! They are awesome! How is the fragrance to your nose? I am so thrilled to see exactly what mine will look like when they bloom. I'm going to have a ton of those in back between my plumerias. That variegated one is insanely pretty.
I'll post a picture of my plumeria/crinum garden when I'm done planting!
On second thought, I don't think I'll be buying any more criums for awhile. Those prices shocked me! Did you see Fragrant Lady? I might have bought that one if it wasn't $100 -- no way. I only throw money away like that for variegated bananas! LOL! I'll just plant what I have for now and wait for Kell's!
Okay, I caved. I bought two 'Cecil Houdyshel' and two 'J. C. Harvey' from the Lushlifegarden link that Alice posted -- over $100! Yikes. I'll have to sell about four of my plumerias to pay for them!
yikes, I would draw the crinum budgetary line at $30-$35.
Clare you should just get one of each-they all multiply fairly fast. Better to get more
Thanks. I did wonder how fast they would multiply. I have a place where four can go so that's why I got two of each -- $44 for two. I think the only future crinum purchase that I'll make is a variegated one, and I'll leave it at that.
Talk to me before you buy the var, crinum. I have a really nice large one that is just sitting there-I may trade you for it!
Oh, I would love to trade for it. Tell me what you'd like for it, and it's a done deal if I have something you want:-)
I wish I had not opened this thread. I only thought I loved Crinums. I had no idea there is so many. I have milk and wine,Crinum 'J. C. Harvey' . 'Ellen Bosanquet' and 3 others not sure of the names. I traded for the yellow and green one but they are very tiny. Does anyone know when they start to show the yellow on the leaf? the lady I traded for these and hers is a few yrs old and shows no yellow yet.
I must have the variegated, the burgandy leaf, and the red and green leaf. And some of the other flowers. I think I need to go to bed my head is spinning from all these beautiful Crinums,
OK nite nite,,,,going to count Crinums instead of sheep. No better not will never sleep lol I do have a couple hundred seeds growing. the bulbs on them are so tiny. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.
I picked the seeds off some at an old empty fire station up the road.
I found these two at a local nursery yesterday and couldn't resist them. They were $33 each and much bigger and fatter than the ones that I just bought from them last week that were the same price. I had bought all that they had last week so they must have just restocked them. One was blooming, and the other has a flower stalk emerging. I accidently broke the flower stalk on the one that was blooming so I put it in a vase in water, and it's been blooming inside. Terry is right: the flowers smell great.
Wow those are beautiful. I never see Crinums for sal at any nurseries around here. Maybe somewhere in Houston I don't know.
I was at that ladies house probably 20 yrs ago and have never forgotten how I fell in love with the burgandy leaf Crinum. I was just getting into flowers then and I thought 30 dollars was too much for 1 plant. We went to another nursery up that way and a guy had burgandy Bromiliads. I bought a pot with 2 big ones for 20 dollars. I was so proud of it. I got home put it in the shade and went out the next day and my doxie "Linky" chewed them to pieces. They never did recover. :o(
Edited to say wrong date on picture

Clare, they are gorgeous and worth every penny. Your garden looks so neat and pretty.
Sandy, you have a whole mess of babies there; it will be interesting to see what you get.
Clare -here is the variegated crinum that I am going to send you! Does that look ok for a trade? If so, then I want a plumeria cutting (what a surprise!)-your best/strongest scent that I don't have and that you can easily spare that blooms pretty good. Does that work? :) I am also going to send a golden crinum and see how it does at your place. They will pup a lot. Just please remind me! This crinum is over 3' high, but I think that I have a long skinny box perfect for it.
Wow Clare you are a very lucky lady.
Date is wrong again but took these today. I bet I trade them before I find out what they are. I know Milk and Wine was one of the Crinums and the other had a throat that looked like someone had brushed burgundy from the middle out and the outer edge is white. The plants look different too. More of the babies
