Oh thanks, you guys. Any shred of care & hope that I can pass along to Deborah buoys her spirits greatly. She is so beaten by life -- bad childhood in that her dad had a 2nd family (!), bad marriage, kid in prison for shooting up half the streets of Eugene, estranged from the other son because he's become kind of a backwoods, gun-toting nut ... Jim's brother stiffed them for 10k last year after Jim & Deb moved him out here to help save the business, then the brother decided to move home to the ex-wife ... I mean, help.
I understand that this might reflect poorly on their decisions overall but I refuse to judge. I know Deborah & I love her. She wants so badly to be an "artiste" and she IS an artist -- she IS! -- but so scared. I am a sudden bright light in her life, someone who speaks kindly to her whose opinion she takes seriously, and that humbles me.
Apropos of Nothing...
It sounds like Deborah is a survivor -- she can take heart in that. And she has a good friend in you!!
WOW! What a nightmare for them. Big hugs here, too, for them. Glad you can accomodate each other.
Wore latex gloves, but still got some stain on me from working on the cabinets for the 'someday' kitchen. 17 cabinets have taken all summer to build. All the pieces are labeled. Now, where to store them for the winter?
Don't know if I mentioned before that my dad's cousin lives in Puyallup.
Jan -
The Puyallup Fair is one of the biggest around and it's a "must go" event each year. Apparently, attendance this year has been record-setting. It sounds like maybe your dad's cousin is probably feeling the traffic and crowds, too, eh?
You built your own cabinets for the kitchen? That's quite an accomplishment - especially at 17!!! Where will you store them? Maybe you can rent one of those portable POD storage units for the winter . . .
Jan, that is impressive. Wow.
Those PODs are awesome. We used two of them to move when we bought this house. Sooo much easier than trucks- no busting butt to get everything loaded and unloaded in one day.
Sounds like a plan, but they would have to be paid for. LOL. I think they will remain in pieces, until such time as the reno starts. That way they will take up less room. DH has a greater appreciation for the cost of cabinets, now. :) And of course they took way longer than he thought. If they do the appliances for cash plan like the clunker program, we may be getting the appliances sooner rather than later. Haven't really heard much about it except that each state had until a certain time to propose their plan.
With school in full swing, the reno won't be til next summer. I can't have a wall knocked down for an undetermined amount of time. He leaves by 6:30 am and doesn't get home til after 5. Then a run, dinner, and then corrcting papers, etc. He tries to finish by 10 pm. He really is an awesome teacher!
I have a new great-niece, born at 5:06 pm, weighing in at 9# 4 oz and 22" long. She looks like she will be taking after my dad's Swedish side. LOL Charlotte Kathleen. Her siblings are Kelsy, Connor, Fion, and Gabriel. They homeschool, so kept at it during the summer, cuz she knew she'd need a break after the baby ws born. She is my mom's 24th great-grandchild. WOOHOO! Mom was hoping the baby would be born on Wed. her 90th BDAY.
Actually, Dad's cousin hasn't left her house for years. Her husband did everything and after he died, her family has to do it now. She won't even go to her kids' homes. So, don't think the traffic would bother her. :) She lives across the street from a school, so there is a lot of open space and you can see Mt. RAinier from her place.
Wow, that is just a really bad dream for those house sellers! I do hope things turn around for them. How awful. On the other hand, maybe they are simply meant to be gypsy vagabonds for awhile and travel around! Sounds like a win/win situation if you ask me. You have the trailer, they need the trailer. I hope they have a very good time and find themselves on the road. Who knows what the future holds for them? Wish them Bon Voyage for me and maybe they can let us know when they figure out why this happened to them. Reminds me of Soferdigs post on the other thread about being stopped by a cop, and then because of the delay, being able to see two bears. Also reminds me of us trying to get out of Roche Harbor and being delayed twice. First time due to engine trouble, the second time because we had inadvertently drained all of the water in our fresh water tank into the bilge on the boat and had to go back and refill. Because of those delays, we got to see the Orcas. You never know! Hey, maybe having a mobile 'home' will keep their crazy family from finding them! Sounds like freedom to me.
Hurray! for new babies who are welcomed into the world with love and hope! how nice!
Pony, I LOVE the color of your walls! Makes me totally miss the living room in my old house. It was the most awesome shade of red. Hope you have a good chiropractor. You need one!
I've always wanted a room with red walls, and this one was already this color- when we walked into the rec room with the real estate agent, I said OMG SOLD! ;D
My chiropractor fired me. *sigh*
Why? because you won't mind him and keep doing things like moving cement rocks? You need my chiropractor instead then. He is used to me and hasn't fired me yet. I'm not sure I'm as bad as you. At least I don't willfully with malice and forethought dig huge heavy concrete anchors to the point where my knees buckle. But I do regularly overdo it and he just laughs at me and then fixes it for me. He's a great guy. Boy can he crack a neck!
My back isn't the right kind of broken for a chiropractor to fix. He can't make a disc reappear. :(
Good for him, Pony, not taking your money, then!
My last chiropractor was nationally renowned, offered immediate relief but nothing that felt right had a very screwed-up family and started calling me at home ("do you mind if i call you like this?" he asked) once my then-SO, who was the one started dragging me to these appointments over a pinched nerve, stopped driving me to appts.
You will NEVER get me to a chiropractor again.
Yikes. How creepy. o.0
My chiropractor is awesome, Tracy and his Mom have both gone to him, and unlike most chiropractors, he doesn't insist on people coming in regularly for adjustments- only when they actually need them. Tracy had a pinched nerve once that was so bad he couldn't stand up right, and one visit to this guy fixed it. So if I ever do have a back issue that chiro can fix, I'll be going straight to him.
Eeeew, that is creepy. I think that was more of a personal problem issue than a chiropractic issue, though. I'd bet he'd be the same no matter what field he went into.
As far as the treatments, I don't know lots about this, but there are several different colleges of chiropractic (as well as differences in treatments they're allowed to do by state) and some of them are more aggressive and hard-core than others. There's a chiro college here in Portland that's apparently one of the better ones. I've had to do a course of treatment to reverse a few issues, but always with the intention that it would taper off and quickly become an as-needed situation.
Pony, it's good that you've got a good chiro-wonder if it's the same guy Pix goes to???
Could be... I'm not caffeinated yet, so I can't remember his name, but he's at Bridgeport Chiropractic in University Place.
Nope, mine is Brian Stemp, but he doesn't push people to come all the time, either. He is ethical. Quacks exist in all professions. Personally, I am always very suspicious of people who are 'world famous' anything and offer 'immediate relief' for anything, unless they are chocolate chip cookies. Generally they get to that position by tooting their own horn a bit too much. Narcissists abound and it's never going to be about anything but them when you encounter them. Sounds like a personal issue with Summer's chiropractor, not a chiropractor issue. I'm sure no one is going to try to drag you to a chiropractor kicking and screaming, summerkid. You don't believe any chiropractor would be able to do anything useful for you, so the likelihood is very good that they wouldn't.
Yeah, it makes me tense up just thinking about it!
LOL
Wow. I just crashed for like 3 hours. Guess I'm a little run down. o.0
Oh, I bet that felt good.
Sure did. Kind of a waste of daylight, but I spose I needed it. The cats were certainly pleased. (I always wake up buried in cats. What's up with that?)
Great thread!
Love Trazodone. Lunesta is good in a pinch.
Would have to take out a second mortgage on my house to afford to cover my stretch marks with tatoos. Would need narcotics to tolerate it anyways. I knew a gal with tatoos from literaly from head to toe and always wore dirty black clothes called her a gothic princess.
I trashed my cardoon today and need a nap.
I'm wondering how Tracy is doing and if the salsa cured him?
Don't like Football season! DH doesn't want to go anywhere! Gotta guest room painted in "cranberry splash" and would like to live in there!
Don't cats try to suck your breath away? Or is that just babies?
Mine just try to squish me to death. They're fat and heavy.
Tracy's MRI was today. (rescheduled from last Thursday) We'll hear from the doctor in the next few days as to the results. Then his Echocardiogram is this Wednesday.
The salsa may or may not have cured him, but it certainly cleared his sinuses. LOL!
Well in the meantime no news is good news. Sounds like all has come back normal for him..........Probably it was just the RU. It was somewhat tramatic! LOL
Yep- he must have been overwhelmed by all the gardening talk. heh.
Thank goodness I WAS NOT THERE!!! Can you imagine the dropped jaws after all my trash talkin' & the guy goes flat on the floor?
Fingers crossed that there is no news to speak of with Tracy's scans.
Azorina, have you ever seen the movie Shirley Valentine? It's a hoot. A middle-aged British lady gets fed up with her family taking her for granted and heads down to Italy for an open-ended vacation. She meets a younger, hot Italian man and at one point they are on the Mediterranean in a boat and he's making advances in the afternoon sun. She tries to cover up her stretch marks and he proceeds to tell her how beautiful they are and that they represent her struggles in life, etc. Just when you, as the movie-watcher, get caught up in the romance and the loveliness of his words, she looks at the camera and says, "Aren't men full of sh__?" It's a great movie -- lots of fun.
Another fun movie that reminds me of is, "Saving Grace."
Doesn't look like she could be bothered to be peeved . . .
Aw! She's bootyful! My girl kitty Myrrh looks peeved a lot of the time too. Always growling at the boys. We call her "Princess Grumpybutt".
I have to confess, Summer- Tracy and I were going to play a trick on you. As soon as you approached him, he was going to hold a home-grown tomato up in his fist and say "Back off or the tomato gets it!"
Only the tuna knows.
Hahahahahahahahahaha.
Can't help but smile.
Yer kinda right, katie. I have 2 other cats who can be a pain in the neck too, but they AND the dog steer clear of Julie. I have no idea how she does it. Honestly, this morning as I was waking up, someone accidentally touched her tail and she slowly turned her head with an indescribable look in those Mae West eyes and SKEDADDLE! Off the bed went the other cat.
Ha! Maybe I would have had Traci AND the tomato (can I say that on here?)!
^_^ Thanks friends for letting me share ^_^
Well, we feel sorry for you, being some kind of a 'nut' and all ...
ya sigh summer it's truly a funky weird nut thing. I just flounder around. Do you speak Fairy? I'm waaaaaaaaay better in Fairy.
