Good deal Burd!
Although I haven't been seeing them at the feeders, I went to change water yesterday and would you believe there was one at the texas sage. They are probably in the garden lots more than I realize.
2009 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Vol. 8
ppbbbt.
With the activity at YOUR house, I'm sure you could take a pix like this from the hammock.
Cute ones Rose and Mrs Ed! I think Dave might help you out! ;-)
I'm so happy right now, I can't make myself leave the backporch. All year I've had a few rubys at a time, but right now it's like rubypalooza! I have 6 feeders, but they all want to be on the same two. Has anyone ever been impaled by a hummer? I could see how it could happen. I have up to 10 rubys, males and females, just on these two feeders sharing and chasing each other. Very awesome. I think my landscaping project paid off:)
Congrats! LOL> Rubypalooza!
LOL, love all the hummer pics - keep 'em coming!
That is great Missy!
Nice shots Mrs. Ed...I need a longer lens too just can't figure out which tree to pick the $ from!!
Congrats Missy...hope they stay awhile for you.
We still have some here but not a mad house anymore...a lot quieter for sure!!
My first wife thought I had a money tree on the back 40. The second did not care if I had a money tree or not. She just spent everything I had and more. Did someone ask why I am not married? That is why I now enjoy the simple things in life like watching Humming birds.
Brilliant I say! Hap has given me ideas!!
Wow, those tiny little tinsy birds have quite a character, don't they?!
oh, Rose, like you need any more! LOL.
Hey, how far are you from those guys?
I spent some time trying to stalk a visitor on Saturday. I realized that if I put the settings on Automatic, they were really blown out. So I switched to manual. I'd have to drop the exposure compensation by 2 points at least to use automatic otherwise.
If anyone comes here, Dave's will probably crash with all my mail. The feeder is straight in front me when I am on the PC. There's a lot of hummer watching.
Hap
Beautiful shots Marna...I really love that second one! I see a lot of Hummers with that white on the top of the beak and thought it was the start of new feathers but I don't really know for sure.
I have been shooting them from the front porch and am about 8-10 feet away. This morning there is no sun so had to up the ISO to 640...always a lot of noise if I go over 400.
We had a changing of the guards and this is the new guy!
Oh he's a fluffernutter!
Great pics guys!
Rose, Love the expression on the last pic of your new guard!
Very nice flight shots Mrs Ed!
Cute female nanny!
Pretty shots of your pretty boy Marna...gotta love the Hummers on the flowers!
Hummer's gone from here, been almost a week no sightings.
Does that mean they're coming here?
Hap
You should have more stragglers coming through Burd.
Another hummingbird with a badly injured beak. Looks like the tongue is exposed in the middle where the beak should be and part of the beak is broken off at the front. He is doing great though, he is a tough young guy guarding any yard plants from other hummers. :-) He does not use feeders.
Oh he's a fluffernutter!
I LOVE that phrase Mrs. Ed!! LOL
I didn't see any yesterday at the feeders, but I was busy so may just have missed them. Mkaing a fresh batch of nectar today.
