I think it was the blood of his enemies. Lordy, that was hilarious. Steve is awesome. :)
THE ROUNDUP PARTY'S OVER!!! :(
Yes he is, after a year of hearing his talk ( which is funny most of the time, but he can been serious and to the point other time's ) but sometimes your not too sure. LOL
I got a little lost here during this one, Seans like a # was called and nobody said anything next # was called then the other said you skip me.
But whatever.
This is how the pics line up, somebody fill in the gaps LOL
I think this is Lynns Grandson. and I think he got the clock
Sopher and Tills....love the pics and the narration! Keep them coming...I was moving around so much that I missed a lot so am enjoying seeing it this way!
And Tills, It's Azorina.....Linda! Don't worry...she will forgive you!!!
The last # called was Laurie's, I ask the group to help me on this. to steal a gift or to take the last unopened one. We or me decided to take the last unopened gift, I wanted to take the snuggie but he lost one gift did not want to strest the poor kid. So I picked the unwrap one.
Sorry Laurie I will not show you the pic, you will have to wait til you get it.
Now it is my turn LOL for a surprise LOL Hugs
Thanks Julie, now I feel like a real dork... LOL
No feeling like a dork allowed! I am sitting here enjoying the fact that it is you struggling through remembering all the details and not me!!! Your efforts are very much appreciated!!!
Tilly- from one dork to another you are of course forgiven! (I may even change my name to Astorina) LOLThankyou for taking on the roll as the official photographer (you must be if you took 400 pics!)
Soferdig-your verbal eloquence and photographs has raised our RU to a new level. (Now I'm wondering who really wrote the original Heronswood catalogue)
Laurie-You were there! Your presence was definately felt....thankyou!
Pix's that is your rose, Kathy was with me when I took the pic. Funny what we do not see in are own yards. LOL
It's fun to see all of these, especially to see what I missed. Well, actually, it's fun to see everyone else having fun, it's kind of a bummer I couldn't stay for more. Oh well, maybe things will work out better next year.
I cannot possibly comment on all these, though! :)
Tils, great job with all the photos-it's astounding that you took so many! And, even better, no pictures of me! :)
Lynn, hope you're feeling more yourself today and getting lots of rest.
Sofer, it was great to finally meet you, and I'm really enjoying your photos and eloquence in the descriptions.
Pony, your rock is very cool. Terrific to hear Tracy is feeling better, too.
And, wow, Sharon, I love, love, love that boulder of yours.
Pix, could that be one of your 'Jude the Obscure' roses? It looks a lot like the one you had me sniff.. mmmm, that was nice-even if that isn't what was in the picture...
Susybell, I was thinking Jude the Obscure too, it does that artichoke look - and you are right, so fragrant. I grow it with summer song, and the two together are intoxicating. Yum.
Tills, I loved all the photos, and so blessed you picked my parcel - hope you enjoy the book, I think it is a terrific read about how the AngloAmerican plant swaps started - I found it a rivetting read, I really felt that I MUST meet the people Andrea Wulf was writing about - ahh, they are dead, for about 200 years! Nuts. enjoy.
Photos are great: absolutely takes me right there, and all of you are a delight - the focus on plants, oh, bless everyone of you! Steve, love your flight over the garden with the fairies, and so glad you landed safely again. don't know what Honeybunny would have said if you had been snapped up by one of the fish - although with that silver tongue I'm sure you would have convinced him to spit you out. BUT, I do wish Pix had remembered to bring a parcel - I would have loved to see photos over the Buddha fight. Tears before bedtime, definately.
Linda, thank you for thinking of me, and goodness - more photos please. This is such fun.
Our Saturday was so busy that those of us who filled Gwen's vehicle had no time to even think about stopping for lunch.
We were really ready for the wonderful hordouvers and breads by the time we got back to Lynn's. Then Julie did a fantastic job of grilling a 24 pound King salmon and a 19 pound ling cod. Both were delicious--NONE was leftover! Rachel and her dad, Gary, and Gwen manned the other grill, preparing a full box of hamburgers. The rest of the meal was also demolished, good salads and great baked beans. Wonderful desserts, I understand, (was just too tired to stick around for them.)
Sunday morning brunch included a couple of things that recipes were requested for. I will try to add them here now.

2 tsp cumin
2 TBSP cilantro

2 TBSP wine vinegar
1/4 tsp pepper
Adjust seasonings to taste. Refrigerate.
I GROW WALLA WALLA ONIONS!!!
I'm reading through the recipes, and I am trying to picture how many people they feed? Clearly this is not for two.
I've just been strolling back through some of the photos and I'm just fascinated by the backgrounds: Is that a little (okay, American size little) room in the top of that stunning barn? did someone get to sleep up there, and does it smell of hay? Lovely. And I really like the big door/screen/fence behind Linda and Carl - it looks like the whole thing moves like a gate, but has openings in the top half. Yes? Incredibly well designed. Very nice.
The houses are lovely - and I really like the wall of windows in the persimmony/pumpkin coloured one (and I like the colour)- is that a double height room? I think Sofer had a view out the window, but I got a bit confused on linking architecture and views. Did you design the houses, or have them designed for you? And do all DH's in the US do building/structural stuff? I'm fine with mine doing electrics, but I really prefer not to be around if he gets out a saw, or a hammer - he has a work/tool shed, but building things really just is not his metier. Only answer what you feel you want to - it is just the musings of a photo peruse.
I am looking at the gardens too, but they fit more into my perimeters of thinking, I recognize some, and know a lot of the plants - the houses not quite so much, they are very different from what we look at here.
Nice mountain.

I have been reading through this thread but have been too busy with the grandkids to post comments. I am EXHAUSTED but so happy to see the photos and read about the RU. It looks like you all had so much fun, and it is great to be able to put faces with names!
Morning to all, I got the new bed started. With all the great plants I got.
Posted the pic on tillys acer.
Laurie. Yes there is a room up there, No there is a house up there complete with 2 beds and a livingroom. I did take some pics but I need the ok from Lynn and Joey befor I will post them
The thing behind Linda and Carl. Is a really big gazbo.
Laurie, I will try to address a few of your questions.
The souffles say "serves eight".
My house, (the pumpkin colored one) was designed and built by its previous owner, a pilot from NW Air, and we were fortunate enough to find it 13 years ago. Love every bit of it and the size and quantity of windows are superb in this wooded setting. Julie and I are taking a decadant day off, so here is a pic of her posting on DG in my living room. It is even higher than two stories, as the ceiling is vaulted above the windows.
Sorry for the crooked pic, tried to get the height perspective.
