I can't seem to find anyone who sells the Deans variegated semi's. There are/were a couple on Ebay that I can't afford to bid on as they are going up and up! Seems that the highest prices on Ebay go for the variegated AVs, which of course is what I want. Its interesting to look at the old AV books and see gorgeous plants I never heard of. Anyway, if anyone knows of any seller of Deans varieties, please let me know. Thanks, ChuLin PS Has anybody seen or have the episcia Ember Lace?
Dean's AVs???
Hi,I've been looking for some of the dean's violets also.I did find some at Cedar creek violets but there leaves only,no plants.

Hope you find some ^_^
Violet Gallery has Deans Silver Veil listed. Had only one other listed, but I don't think it was var.

Hi ladies. There are several on Ebay going for big bucks (to me) and BBB has some, but I guess she is only selling on Ebay now. I have won 3 different vareigated semi-mini's and have 3 more bids out on different ones (also v. semi) from BBB. I'm going to need to get a second apartment soon for all the plants I have and am getting...haha! Thanks for the help! ChuLin
Check out both Violet Gallery and Violet Venture, too. I love Cedar Creek Violets!!!
I am starting to refuse to pay those outlandish prices on ebay. Because...........I am learning that many vendors have the same leaves for 2.00 each instead of 10-13 bucks each............I even bought a leaf in the past of Bishop for over 10 bucks and found a plant the next day for 4.50 of Bishop. You just gotta be patient and wait until you find a good deal..............The good deals are certainly out there with many well known vendors who don't even sell on ebay.
Who is BBB????I noticed that Iceberg is only selling on ebay now...........that is a shame.....
OK, BBB is Blossoms, Birds & Butterflies, the name of Iceberg's store on Ebay. Thanks for the tip on Violet Gallery and Violet Venture...I'll check them out! ChuLin
So what var.AV's did you get, this nosey rosie would like to know, cause I love the variegated one's too.LOL.
Glad you just said that Jan.........so it will influence what goes into your box!!
You also need to let me know what you got from Fred as I might have some you didn't get from him.
Jan and I are trading but I have no room for her wonderful box right now.........I am going to make some space by fall, Jan!!!!
Let's see, so far I have won Tomboy Blue, Suncoast Lavender Silk, and Newtown's Sassy Wins...and have bids on Golden Eye, Mac's Stop Sign and Shirl's Senior Moment. All different colored flowers and all are variegated. All are semi's except Sassy Wins, which is a standard. All are from BBB (Iceberg)...isn't her name Karen? ChuLin
GG, thanks for the picture of Suncoast; I think I will love them all! Now, I have to ask, and I have seen this in a couple places on DG; what is First Class? ChuLin
first class is a african violet software, really nice to have, list thousands of pictures & info on most violets.if you go to avsa.org you will find it there,
mrsbonnie
Wow,very nice AV's you bought chuLin.
wow, i just seen a mini violet on ebay that is to die for, what a beauty, called star wars by baker, she is only offering leaves, but oh it is beautiful.I did bid on it, hope i win. lol
mrsbonnie
I have to go look and promise I won't bid on it!!! Meagan teased me because she found a leaf on ebay and I bought it............but there were several offered........then she found the plant and ordered it.......it was Ma's Ching Dynasty.
Bonnie, as much as I love John Cook on Cape Cod, I ordered some leaves from him and they were the biggest oldest nasty leaves in the world.............I hope better for you...........and they were expensive..........two of them died and I never lose an av leaf.................but try and see........you never know....
Mrs. Bonnie, they have Starwars leaves at Violet Venture for $1.25 for two.
Good for you, Melanie..........that is what Goldleaf and Marjorie have been trying to tell me for a long time about bidding on leaves on ebay..........that if I would take the time to search for them on web sites I could cut the cost by 75%.
Thanks Melanie! I went to VV to get a look at Bonnie's AV, and I found one I have been looking for for almost 2 years! I still want to take a gander at Starwars --Bonnie--better post it if you win! LOL
I hope we will all try and help one another find a leaf...........would save us so much money and make us such happy campers!!!
hey, thanks so much for the heads up on violet vent. i just finished ordering 15 different leaves, was wonderful. thanks so much again.
mrsbonnie
I'm still shopping at VV--LOL!
Remember that Faye has some serious health issues so you have to be patient. I ordered about a month ago and haven't heard from her yet about shipping......but she is a wonderful human being!!!
VV is great...thanks for the tip as I had never heard of it. She has lots of things I'd like! Now, stupid me has a question (don't I always have some question but how ya gonna learn if you don't ask the people who know?), what is a plug? I see a person putting AV plugs up for bid on Ebay and don't know what they are. I was thinking maybe just a leaf with some roots? DUHHHHH! ChuLin PS StarWars is gorgeous!
a plug means the person has grown the baby plant (already separated from its' mother leaf) in a thimble or one ounce container. The only person I buy from in those small pots is Green Dragon Trading Post for 3.00 each and are perfectly grown. I think his user name is Greenmule.........all of his are "Buy it now" and are fabulous perfect little plants. He is 79 with a lot of experience growing. A wonderful man is Fred!!!
A plug is a baby plant grown on a tray that has very small ummmm.....cups, holes, sections--whatever you want to call where the roots go(I hate when I can't word find!) Anyway, the holes are close together so that the little leaves tend to grow up, and that way, the tray holds lots of little plants. When they get to you, and you pot them up, the leaves come right down and lay normally, and you have a cute baby plant! I've had great luck with plugs I've gotten from several vendors. Think of them as a compromise between leaves and potted plants. This plant was sent to me as a plug this spring.
I'm so glad to help out. I just love to window shop!! Bonnie I saw Starwars on e-bay too. It is really a pretty little plant. Then found it on Violet Venture. Faye has alot of beauties.
Oh and Gail, when you get babies from Ma's Ching Dynesty, put my name on one. Rob was sold out of her.
Are you serious, Melanie!!! I will be sure and let God make lots of babies from her!!! I think the lady on ebay was only offering one leaf instead of the usual 2, but one leaf can make up to 5 good plants anyway.........I will hold on to every baby and put your name on. I haven't gotten them yet but they are in the mail.
The leaf wouldn't last long enough for me to turn around and send her to you. Will promise you that you will be first on the list of sharing her..........but since I am so senile sometimes, can you remember to dmail me in about 3 months and ask about the babies and shipping. I think it will take that long to produce babies and then let them get big enough to ship.
I also ordered several other good leaves, including a sport of Blue Lace..............won't forget you.........
Thanks much, ladies, I understand what a "plug" is now. I have looked at Green Dragon's av's and like alot of them. I like everything...thats my problem! If I get all these on Ebay that will be six violets, which will about use up all the available space I have...haha! Another question, is there a "repository" where the old hybrid african violet seeds are...does anyone know about that? Probably should look on AVS for info on that, I bet.
Green Dragon are not plugs but perfect little plants in one ounce pots with good symmetry.......just little round wonderful plants!!!
Blue Lace is also so awesome.......I won't let you forget me!! lol!!
I had some Blue Lace I shipped out but don't know what I sent to whom!! (LOL)...you may have one coming.
Just wated to let people know , violetgallery has Ma's Ching Dynesty too .
Connie
Melanie............are you reading this? And I am sure it is a better price..............
Thanks Connie for posting on the 'no surgery' thread!!!!
Thanks so very much! Will call tthis morning!
violetgallery has Star Wars too ........................LOL you would think with all the plugs I give them that I have stock .........but no , it is just that I have ordered from them many times and they have never let me down in service or quality of plants/ leaves and they have such a big stock to choose from . I am making my last order list before winter keep ordering at bay , hope this helps people trying to find plants and leaves they want :)
Hugs to all you dear plant friends
