Man, my ear itches!
Hummingbird Adventures #16
Looks like he's a little woozy there! LOL!
A few seconds later he flew back into the gh.
I'm tired and it's time for bed.
I'll post some more tomorrow, and this brings me up to the end of August.
I hope that you enjoyed the photos and my silly observations about their behavior.
Have a Great Labor Day Weekend!

This is so great! I love all your pics.
OK, I want to know how the hummers in my yard stay so chubby, what with all the running each other off away from flowers and feeders! I messed up my back last week setting tiles, and the past couple of days I've spend some time in the yard in a chair that doesn't kill me. It's like watching Cirque du Soliel in miniature!!!
I saw one today with a kind of rusty gold beret, and s/he tore off to the opposite side of the yard from where I think the Annas' nest is. I'm wondering if s/he might be a rufous.....VERY exciting! (Sorry, no pix, even my nice little P&S camera sucks at capturing them, and I just get too frustrated.)
They must have the right genes?
It constantly surprises me that they even have the energy to do all that flying acrobatic stuff. Some of mine sometimes appear chubby, usually after they've tanked up, mostly they are slim, but the ones here don't migrate, and maybe the ones that do have to build up layers of fat for the migration.
Some of my best experiences with the hummers have come when the stupid battery has died or I don't even have the camera with me.
Sometimes it's good to stop and just enjoy their being. Dad once asked me if I ever stopped to smell the roses (I was Super Mom back then), and I told him that none of my roses smelled, but I did take time to stop and play with the kittens, and did that count?
Ima, I am sorry about your back, and hope it is feeling better soon. Knee pads and smaller loads, make tiling go easier. Were the tiles in the house or one of your yard projects? Sending healing, and positive thoughts your way. Don't stress taking their photos, just enjoy their antics! : - )

Thanks for the healing thoughts---please also send some to make me less stupid. I have good knee pads and I know better---I just leaned over too much when I was grouting. I was, as always, too focused on the task. My personal saying seems to be "anything worth doing is worth OVERdoing."
I was finishing up the bottom step riser on the front porch. I started in 2004 and couldn't finish up until the courtyard tiles were finished last October. Got tired of looking at that strip of concrete!
The hummers come to the fountain and the salvias, fuchsias and feeder that aren't in view. They were quite perturbed when it was all torn up again. Here's the before and after. SOOO glad to have it done at last.
ima,
Sounds like something I'd do, and probably will. I'm kinda tired of looking at my part way completed court yard and will probably start working on it brick by brick again. I have learned to pace myself, but even still I forget sometimes. Thank Dr. Eric and his weekly tune-ups. They really help!
Well, now that you have it done, and it does look nice (risers are a PITA!), relax and enjoy it.!
Took this photo for fun and cause it reminded me of Dad.
I'm starting a new pafe with more baby photos, and their antics. I do hope you come join us on the new page. Here is where we are going!

Sorry I've been overwhelmed lately, and I haven't been able to keep up with this thread. Am leaving for vacation soon, and will have time to share photos, and since I can't visit with my hummers, I'll share photos of them. : - )
Thanks for sharing with us Martina & Kevin!
