thanks Pelle!... can't see straight enough to proof the rest this morning... been a rough week
2009 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Vol. 7
Wow...some really great shots...love all the ones with the flowers. I have a tough time trying to get the Hummers to stay in one place long enough to get some pretty color in the shot.
Here are some shots from the other day...
This poor guy was perched and another came out of nowhere and attacked him...no wonder they are constantly on the lookout!!
Nice everyone! Still not arrived here yet. Last night was a gorgeous night so i went outside to wait. I took a bunch of test pictures fiddling with the settings. I think I'm going to have to switch to the tripod and not the monopod though.
Hate to post so many of the million bells but it is in a hanging basket positioned very near the feeder, so the hummers often pause there, coming or going. This guy seems to have some sort of growth on the bridge of his beak. Anyone have an idea what it is? Been that way for a week at least since I first noticed it.
nice Dell & Burn.... they even check out my strawflowers to see if there is anything in there... funny watching them go from plant to plant.. I see my Salvia Indigo Spires finally has some buds on it.. they will have one more to keep them happy... hopefully it will live though the winter ...I might try taking a cutting just in case

Wonderful photos everyone!
Really nice shots Burn, Dave and Onewish! I agree that there isn't a flower in the yard that the Hummers haven't tried!
Dave...I've noticed some of the Hummers have that on the bridge of the beak and I always thought it was just their feathers. I don't know for certain though and don't recall reading anything about it.
Here is one on the last of the Daylilies!
Lovely, Rose. I love you birdhouse, very neat. And so are your Onewish.
Love the daylily shot, Rose
I will agree with loving the birdhouse & the DL shot!!
Great shots onewish and Rose!
I just got back from Cape May and for the second time we saw a RT Hummingbird vigorously chasing a larger bird. This time it was a Tree Swallow that got chased last time it was a Tern. These little guys have such big attitudes! :-)
That's funny. In the spring I actually saw a chickadee chase away a hummingbird that was too close to the nesbox!
I had a hummer chasing a titmouse yesterday... around and around our pussy willow.. just wasn't giving up
They are tenacious! :-)
it seems a male has lay claim to the one feeder.... and not letting anyone come near it... he was hiding out in the tree and chasing all others away
Nice pics onewish!
They certainly aren't easy to get when their flying around but you've done a great job!
