CLOSED: AYANKEECAT PASS ALONG BOX # 2

Arroyo City, TX(Zone 9b)

Aspen,

I'm right there with you. Some how goodness and kindness has been surplanted with arrogance and that is very sad. I too will have to back out of this at this time. It is just not what it started out to be as it has been corrupted and as Connie put it so well, hijacked.

I don't know if this pull out is graceful or not but, I would like to reinterate my post from before that we ALL need to look at our actions on this thread and where it went wrong. It seems when we least feel we are self serving is when we usually are the most.

I do believe once the dust settles the idea that originally started here should go on but, with the true heart of a gift in mind. It cannot go on without the original intent and certainly, I cannot without a person to guide it that has that intent obviously in their heart. It's a long term commitment.

I'm sad that this had to be written. There are always those that point fingers and can say it's too bad this had to happen or look at what happened. The real gift comes when you can say "what was my part in it and what can I do better."

Sincerely,

Jamie

Thanks everyone for all your wonderful D-mails and support. You all have really made my evening.....your the best!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I hate to see this happen. I think I missed where it got hijacked. I thought the one at the top set to the one under them to the next in line and on down the list.

I am sorry this happened as it is a wonderful thing to feel the blessing of giving more than receiving. I love people and love to give. Because I joined when I think it was done adding people and was graciously am going to pull out also. I am till going to do this but I will chose someone not in here as you all will end up getting from someone.

But I don't want whoever I sent to to know who I am at all. For me it is more fun to here the excitement like recently someone sent mammjack a box of something she put in plant trading she was looking for. She as far as I know was asking who sent it as she was so excited but I am almost positive they remain anonymous.
It was so wonderful to see such excitement as she was trying to find out and thank them.

You know I love you cannagirl. You have a huge heart. Your Blessing of starting this I know God will repay 10 fold.

You know I once read a thread yrs ago about people that say they would not give to someone standing on a corner with a sign as so many smoke, use drugs or drink. I use to help cook on sundays at the church we attended for 7 or 8 yrs where on Sunday afternoon we would cook while 2 busses went downtown and picked up homeless men and women. They would attend sunday night service and after church we would serve them. There was between 25- 100 every Sunday. Some of the greatest people you would ever want to meet. I saw so much pain and yet big smiles for tiny things we did for them. I told in that thread that the people on the street may drink, do drugs or whatever but I could not talk about them drinking or anything because I have no idea what I would do if homeless. At minimum wage where could you live? having to live on the streets how could you be called for an interview or anything else. Yes we had pews on each side and really long one in the middle. These people really smelled bad but with the calling to do this it was no big deal as i loved them all so much I was proud to be able to help. Yes there were a few who just came to eat. But I seen them change over the yrs.

The homeless sat in the first set of pews on the right. The church people not in tis ministry that sat in the middle sat all the way to the left as they could and in the row on the far left. It was so obvious they did not want anywhere close to our guys. That is what we referred to the homeless as. Our guys and we sat with them. It was obvious who was there for themselves and to be seen and who was there to do what Jesus wants us to do. Freely give of ourselves.
God judges our giving on how we are give and not on what the person will do with it. So if anyone is in here to receive it is the wrong reason. This is based on the giving and not the getting and being thankful for what we get and not listing what we want.

Thanks for letting me in cannagirl but I will pull out as I feel bad for asking in after you had listed who was giving to who and now it is all off track.

Blessings,
Sandy

Is this still going? Im confused as usual... I see the thread is closed but is that just to new people joining or closed as in the swap is off?

I am so sorry to hear how distressed some are over whatever happened. I'm afraid I am clueless. I so appreciate being added to the list. I am still sending to cannagirl & happgarden. I am just excited to be sending something of me to them. : )
Wish I could get to know you, I think I will still hang out in the hopes of becoming closer, it's sounds like there are some really good hearted people here. : )
Lynn
happgarden & cannagirl you have Dmail. : )

Okay, so happgarden doesn't have Dmail. I can't find her. Does anyone know how I find her. She is on the list for me to send to but I don't find her on this tread.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Hi, Lynn. Not sure what's going on with the pass along box. It got a little out of hand and a little too confusing for me. We hang out on the seed trading forum where we have some chat threads if you'd like to come join us . . .

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1032598/

I guess feel free to send boxes to whomever you wish in the true spirit of the original intent of this thread.

Kelly

Thank you Kelly. : )

Xcuse me everyone, please don't send to me, not that I don't love swaps but I am way too confused to participate. Kind of like the tagged seed swap, just way too much for me to grasp......LOL sorry everyone. I certainly don't want to make a mess of things because I can't keep up.

Hope to see pictures from those who do participate.

Again sorry for bowing out.

Okay happgarden, maybe next time? : )

This thread started out a kindness of sharing....and your all more than welcome to ship on a pass along to whoever you wish.

I closed this thread because I was getting mail wanting me to correct the shipping list because some were being overlooked to get boxes....which I tried to correct. Only to get another person upset with me because I tried to make this change. More mail about the zone shipping....again I tried to correct to make everyone happy....again a nasty email.

To be honest mail shouldn't have been coming to me about your complaints of others on this thread....as my part was ended upon shipping my box.

All I want is to grow plants, make gardening friends that are happy doing the same, and of course share plants that I grow with others.....without all the above confusion in parts of this thread that I had no part in making.

For all of those wonderful emails supporting me thank you again.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Cannagirl you did a great thing here. Too bad Greed ruined it.

For those who did this I am not going back and read it to see who you are You know who you are. I am not a person wanting to receive but I love to give. I am in a tropical swap and they made the limit 20 dollars. I sent a lot less. I sent about 20 things out of my yard and some seeds. I am not one to brag but one was a full grown Bromeliad worth more than 20 dollars. But I already had it. So I hope the person who recieves it soes not think because I did not spend money for any of these this min to send that I am a cheap skate.

I am embarrased to see grown people act like this. Who does not understand the idea of Pass It On? Please rent the movie Pass It On something like that is the name. It will blow you away how freely giving of yourself is. It will change your life. will change your life. I was born like this I am sorry you do not Chose to be like this. We are born or we chose how we will live and treat others everyday How will you chose today? Will you chose to freely give or Greedily Take? We make a choice everyday how we will live. And in return God decides if we are blessed, if we never get ahead or if he blesses what our hand touch. Are you a blessing? I know cannagirl is as she is a generous giver. Thanks cannagirl I know I appreciate how you give of yourself.

BirdieBlue I just reread my post and with some typo's I don't know how you understood me. But I am glad you did. Your Dmail blessed my socks off.

Thank you for chosing to Bless me with your words. Better than any plant as plants are traded all the time. But today it is getting farther apart when someone like you takes the time to send a Dmail to say thanks or I can see by your post you have a big heart.

Not too long ago I got one from Cannagirl. Her name is Dollie and she has a perfect name. She is a complete Doll. lol

Blessings,

I just think that even with the outcome of this thread, you all are the nicest group of people, and while there were apparently some others that were frustrated and upset, I see a group of very gracious ladies who have seemingly been inspired to continue the idea of sharing what we've all been blessed with.

Cannagirl, I still think that you handled this with grace and dignity, and are still the hero. I appreciate and enjoy reading the encouraging words posted here.

I to am happy to be part of this group. I have made new friends and have had the joy of sending things to others in the hope that they will enjoy their new plant children. : )
Thank you for allowing me to be part of it.

lol

Girlgardener, I wouldn't worry about it. Most of us have decided to let this go, although several of us are sending packages before calling it good. I've got a couple going out next week from this, and then I'm done. I'd suggest that you come join a swap, or maybe pack up a box & surprise someone on the list above if you want to keep up the spirit of this thing that Cannagirl started! :)

I got an amazing package from Lynn today (Valleylynn). She sent me at least two kinds of Sempervivium (were there 3 kinds, or were those just the "chicks"?), four different sedum (I only have one of the varieties, I think), a bundle of blackeyed susans, and coneflowers for my "prairie garden", several different kinds of hardy geraniums and a heather plant! I couldn't believe the gorgeous haul! Thanks so much Lynn!

Ptilda,I feel blessed by your happiness. : )
Thank you for making my day.
I met another lady here on Daves Garden and spent two days with her (Gourdbeader) teaching me how to make pine needle baskets. What a wonderful place this is for me to meet such great people.
Thank you for letting me participate. : )

Lynn, that is the most beautiful picture of red hot pokers I have ever seen. I have two different types of red hot pokers but none that are that beautiful. Do they require alot of moisture? I have one in full sun and one who gets shade in late afternoon. None are doing as well as yours......beautiful

Good morning happgarden. These are in what is now my dry garden, in full sun. I don't water them more that four or five times all summer. This is our dry season for us. I also don't fertilize them. We do have clay soil. Basically I do nothing for them. Love this plant. It is an old variety so don't know it's name. I'm in the process of taking a bunch out so I can incorporate other dry area plants (grasses, drought tolerant plants). I am going to have quite a few of them if anyone needs some.
The birds absolutely love this plant (nectar & seeds). : )

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

I'm with happ - those are beauties!

Lynn, you are so lucky to have met Gourdbeader!!! I love her work. Talk about talent!
I have plenty of pinestraw if you need it....JLMK
Your pic is beautiful.....and the dog too ;)

I just feel so blessed to have met her (Gourdbeader). What an awesome lady, I can't imagine anyone not loving her. : ) She has a great spirit.
Thank you all for the compliments on the poker lilies. I have some to share if any of you would like them.
Cannagirl, your box will go in the mail Monday, I've been gone and had to find a box that would work for the orchid. : )

Lynn, that orchid is amazing!

Cannagirl, I would love some red-hot-pokers, but I'm affraid they don't like the cold up here. Oh well, I'll have to settle for enjoying the photos you post.

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

Valleylynn - have some pokers (3-4 years old) that never really do much as far as a top bloom. Those are amazing , so strong and tall. Perhaps my soil wasn't worked deep enough in this red clay.
Mine were to be a clump beside the end of my driveway, like a flag. Don't think they had that much yellow in the original picture either.

Pine straw baskets?? do you mean making a basked out of the shed pine needles??

Hugs all around + prayers,
~Sheri~ ^_^

Hi Sheri. I truely do neglect them. Hard pack clay soil, very seldom water, no mulch or fertilizer. This clump has been here for many years. Maybe they just need a little more time to get the roots on the rhisomes going? I have two other kinds that I planted last year in a different part of the garden (much better soil & more moisture). They seem to be doing well, but not much in the blooming department this year.
Maybe this particular one is just very easy? Would you like some? The fun thing with them is the hummers and then all of the different kinds of little finches come for the seed.
Yes, making baskets out of the needles that are shed in the fall. They have to be the newly fallen ones (not the ones from last year that are still on the ground). It works best with the really long ones. Gourdbeader is such an awesome teacher. I am just in the process of learning. : ) Great fun and so fascinating.
The hugs are great, and the prayers even better. : )

Valley, I would love some if you have enough. anything that attracts hummers + sets seed for the others is wonderful!

I would love to see a pic of one of those baskets. I cannot even immagine a pine needle basket.

Lovely Blackberry Lily

~Sheri

Here is a link to Gourdbeader. She has pictures of the many beautiful baskets she has made. She is so talented.
I have Blackberry Lily plants extra also.
