Robin I had one of those drained, man that hurts! Came back really big then went away for about 4 years just recently started coming back again, now it's like a mini ganglion. What a pain.
Garden Photos '09.....#40
Ooo those ganglions sound nasty. Didn't they wack those with a large heavy book to pop them in the old days? Seems to me I read that some place. Yikes.
Glad your writs are feeling better today Robin. Hope they stay in good shape too.
Cute little asters, they grow wild here in white and blue as does the jpw, a sure sign fall is on the way.
Yeah, funny guy my doctor...he's like "yep it's a ganglion, ya know what we do now? Hit it with a dictionary." Must of had a look of shock on my face.
Bill, the soil between the stones is a bit sandy. It's in what I call my 'dry' garden, as it's on a hill, has well-drained, kind of sandy soil, so it dries out fairly quickly. I have a lot of plants in there that like good drainage and can tolerate drought conditions.
Jo Anne, yes, it's a sunny area for most of the day.
Yuck! about whacking the cyst with a book!
Marilyn, I just got the 'Henry Eilers' BES last year, and it's doing wonderfully. It's very tall, close to 6'. It's native to the Midwest and was named for Henry Eilers, a horticulturist and retired nurseryman who first discovered it. Here's a link that gives a little more info on it http://www.northcreeknurseries.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/plants.plantDetail/plant_id/441/index.htm . I think everyone should grow this wonderful plant, and I'm surprised it's not more popular.

One more place for more info on 'Henry Eilers' BES: http://troybmarden.blogspot.com/2008/10/rudbeckia-henry-eihlers.html . Can you tell I love this plant?
Karen
It's a great plant---thanks for the info, Karen. Yes, Jen & Ngam---having the cyst drained hurt like h---the doctor only used a topical spray, but not much soreness tonight, after about an hours weeding this morning.
love that last dahlia PIxie!
Thanks Allison, I like it too but so do the bugs, they keep taking bites out of it.
Went to the 'City' again today for more wedding things. DD needed gown alterations and we had 3 kids with us. One is 5, next is 18 months and the youngest is 7 months and it's a 75 minute ride to begin with. Guess who was watching/running after said children while DD had alterations??? Yup, amd im pooped so......last one for tonight. ^_^
Sedum CARMEN
Robin, at least he gave you a topical spray my doc didn't give me anything except rub the spot with an alcohol wipe.
Love them all Celeste. That 'fire pot' dahlia WOW.
Ahhh really pretty . Not so many nice bright colors in my garden now between all the heat and no rain. I love seeing these at the end of summer thanks. That 'Stack the Deck' DL is a beauty , I can see why its a fav of yours. Cooler temps here too, but it kinda feels nice after all the humidity of the last few weeks.

Im so jealous of your hummers! I think I saw one maybe 2 all summer.
The yellow finch's are still here to and I love watching them. I also have to mention their bright yellow feathers that cheer me on a dreary days.
Have to ask...What's on that one sunflower? Bee Well Kiss's for Randy!!!lol
LOL Pixie
Love those shots too. They are so amazing to watch. What is the name of the red flower your little guy seems to like so much? Had one come up to kitchen window and just stare in at DH. He was amazed. The finches are working hard now on getting seeds from the garden. They have been on the 'Lemon Queen' helianthus a lot lately. Saw some of the chickadees out and about yesterday too. Fall is on the way.
I think they are honey bees Pixie
that is a canna Ngam... I will have to go check the tag for the name... it was bought before I started keeping track
Great pics as usual, Allison, I love the hummer on the branch shot.
Those photos are very cheering on this depressing day! Pixie, loved all of those DLs, & the dahlias---very pretty white! Thanks, Allison for the birds---always my favs---Jen--ouch!
thanks guys... yes after the past week.. anything cheery is good
It seems just the other day that the sight of these made you smile. Another garden season has begun, where did it go so quickly. Thought this might do it's magic and bring a smile on this rainy day that seems to be weeping for the garden season, taking it's last few moments in the warm sun of summer before the long winter rest.
Wow that about sums up what I feel like today. I have been going over and over lists of what I have to plant this fall for spring so that daf is right up my alley! : )
That's very poetic, ngam! And the daff is cheering on such a cold, overcast, misty day. Our season is much too short, here in the NE-----crossing fingers for a long, warm fall!
Celeste, that Fire Pot dahlia is a stunner! Love it! I have Night Beacon and Changing Latitudes. I love them both. I love that Stack The Deck. Very nice!
Great hummer shots, Allison!
I like your Tahitian Sunset rose, Meredith, and Mardi Gras sure is a colorful one.
Karen
love all the roses Meredith!!
thank you Karen
Thanks Karen & Allison. I loved that last hummer shot. Did yu grow those Canna from seed? They look just like ones I grew. I wish I could get good pictures of hummers like that.
