This is my 15-day-old son.
While my first son is at university, God sends us a second son.
New baby, new hope, and meanwhile, more responsibilities.
Hope my new-begotten son will be like his brother,
growing up into a gentlemman.

My No.2 son Bochang (meaning learned and smooth),whose given name is after his brother's, Bowang (meaning learned and hope).
Can you imagine it that after over 20 years Wife finally gives birth to me a second son, which indeed makes us surprise and brings us great happiness. I am sure in the following years from now on both wife and I will retain youth for a long time. And my No.1 son is very happy for he has a little brother who can depend on each other in life.
This boy is born in the Chinese animal year of OX (Bull). I have consulted the Chinese zodiac. Info is as follows:
According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2009 is the Year of the Ox. The Ox, or the Buffalo sign symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Those born under the influence of the Ox or Buffalo are fortunate to be stable and persevering. The typical Ox is a tolerant person with strong character. Not many people could equal the resolution and fearlessness that the Ox exhibits when deciding to accomplish a task. Ox people work hard without complaints at work or at home. They know that they will succeed through hard work and sustained efforts, and do not believe in get-rich-quick schemes.
Famous persons who were born in the OX years which I know of are Barack Obama, Magaret Thatcher, Princess Diana ...
But as the parents we do not expect him to be a man with great feats. To be a gentleman -- kind, just, devoted, is our wish to him.
BTW, my yarden seems ever better with flowers blooming to welcome baby's arrival into this world.
Jianhua
You have beautiful wishes for Bochang. May it be so! The year of the Ox seems to be quite auspicious. Congratulations to the Jianhua family again. :-)
Oh, Jianhua, congratulations my friend! I didn't know your first son was already twenty. Time flies so quickly, and we've known you here since he was a young teen. Welcome, Bochang!
Congratulations Jianhua on your second son, doesn't seem line first son should be 20, time flys.
Ruth
I'm generally just a lurker but wanted to add my congratulations! He's such a handsome little fellow! Stephanie
Wow!! After 20 years!!! Bochang is certainly God's gift to you and your wife. Congratulations.
Blessings Bochang, may you grow into a fine gentleman, a joy to your parents.
awww congrats. always a new beginning to look forward too. welcome to the world little one.
Jianhua, a question.
Will you be giving out red dyed hard boil eggs, or box of cakes when Bochang is one month old? Or will you hold a big dinner celebration at a restaurant?
Does this custom still prevails in China as it does with the Chinese in Singapore?
If so, please share pictures with us.
Congratulations! Bochang is very adorable. ^_^
Many congratulations to you and your family on this new little blessing!
After more tnan 20 years, the same mother, she gave birth to a second boy baby -- a calf, according to the Chinese horoscope, or a leo(August 1), according to the western horoscope. Both wife and I think it is indeed a great blessing from almighty God. Sure at least 15 years from now on we will keep youth for the sake of Bochang. And I am thinking of an education program for him-- to teach him to speak English from the very beginning in hopes that he can pick up the foreign language in the natural enviroment.
These days we are busy working for the baby: Wife take charge of baby feeding regularly with cow milk, No.1 son Bowang on school holiday helps doing cooking, while I act as nurseman, washing diapers. hehehe I have to like doing the job.
These days relatives and friends keep coming to us , congratulating to the baby birth. As the custom goes, they bring with them baby clothes, foodstuff or money notes when they are seeing the baby. In return, red boiled eggs and sweets standing for happiness are presented to them by us.
When son is 1 month old, he will have his hair cut for the first time ever since he was born. I am going to have a small patch of his hair left un-cut right above his forehead; the patch will be a love-heart shape. By then I will show you a picture.
Thanks again for your sharing and good compliments.
Jianhua

You've certainly made me and my husband happy just by sharing your joy with us.
Hubby says, he'll help with the cooking.. but no diaper washing!! Lol!!
Young children have a tremendous capacity for learning multiple languages. He'll benefit from learning both and it will be easier for him having learned it from babyhood on up. I can't wait to see more photos of him. :)
Thank you, and thank you!
Not long ago Father departed from us, which makes us in deep sorrow.
Now my second son has grown like a young paulownia tree.
He is a console to us.
He is now one month plus a few days old.
Today I did a haircut for him with my moustache/beard blade, leaving untouched a small patch above the forehead ( the part called heaven window or hole) resembling a heart-shape. Here are two more pictures of my baby son.
As a matter of fact, I am beginning to speak to my baby son in English.
'Well, well, don't cry any more'
'Come on, baby, let's drink the milk.'
'Be a good boy'
'Well done'
These are the expressions I often speak to him.
I even try to tell him 'The little rabbit and the big wolf'. When I tell him the fable,
he seems to be in a peaceful mood and listens to me carefully.
Trying to practice him to pick up English in a natural way is one of my goals for him. It is a challenging but rewardable job.
Jianhua
:-) Jianhua!
Bochang looks very strong! Only a month old. He is making hearts happy thousands of miles away
Oh indeed he is...such a sweet look...babies are great...smiles..Diana..
I have enjoyed reading this thread and learning about new customs. May God bless you and your family. I'm sure your son will grow to be a fine man.
Jianhua, please accept my congratulations to you, your wife, and son, Bowang on the birth of your new greatest joy, young Bochang. Sincere wishes for a long happy life to you all.
Moon
my thoughts and prayers are with you and family for your loss Jianhua. May your sweet memories and the newborn help you through your loss of your father. Just remember Gods promises and know your dad is in a better place.
Two big surprises happened to me this year -- Father's going and my second son's coming.
Till now I am still thinking Father is alive being with us. But I know the beloved man must be in a better place in heaven. There will be no one from now on who helps me to pull weeds in my yarden, or there will be no one chatting and drinking tea in the yard with me . I miss him so much. when the time comes, I will plant two tower-like pine trees by the side of my parents' tomb as a permenant memory to them.
When I see my little son after a day's work, happiness will come and tiredness will disappear. For the boys, any hardship to me is nothing at all. My big boy is at college, and he needs a laptop, so I purchased one for him. And in order to meet both ends, from this autumn I will turn half of the yarden into a little vegetable garden, planting spinach, edible daisy, garlic, etc. thus meeting our daily vegetable demand.
Two pictures of the veggie garden in progress.
Thanks again for sharing!
Jianhua
What a beautiful thing to plant those trees. The vegetable garden sounds and looks nice, too.
You are a good father Jianhua. Your actions bring honor to your family. Your father would be proud.
Yes Jianhua strong spirit makes for strong offspring and you have what it takes to be an excellent role model for your children just like your dad was for you.
nicely said flowers! I believe that too Jianhua.
You have a fine baby boy there Jianhua. Very alert and content. How is your vegetable garden doing?
