Had so much mail to answer this morning Sis and I'm still sitting in my nightie - must go take a shower and have a nice cup of tea - second cup of the morning of course. Haven't got the time to go through the forums now but I will be back - see you all soon :-)

Hi Lou, I've noticed that after midight the posting slows to a standstill. It happens at exactly midnight and continues for a while. I thought it might be Dave's updating the days threads and sending letters? It does get to be agravating at times. Jim

Hi there - I'm back!! Had a really wonderful and unexpected day. This might take a while to relate - are you sitting comfortably? DH wants a truck!! He says, we are country folk now and we need a truck!! He is right!! How else would I haul manure and the like. Went into two counties north of Charlottesville. Gorgeous day and the scenery breathtaking!! Then flashing before my eyes - Plow and Hearth having a tent sale!!! Stop! I cried! What, now? said DH! No love, I said, lets go look at a truck first!! But...no truck today (sad) and only spent a few dollars on a frog bird bath for my new friend and neighbour - she's nuts about frogs!! The prices in that store, even on sale, were pretty phew!! I went into my very first Pit Pig country restaurant and had a great sandwich. An old sign over the bar read, "Don't put your shoes on the bar"!! Good food and great service and the coffee was fantastic!! I suggested to DH that we go home a different route, to see more country. Someone must have been directing me today because I found the most amazing nursery tucked away. I have never seen anything like it. Found my two clematis Montana for $4.95 each and a golden leaved Forsythia, a gorgeous Ceanothus, a small willow and a few perennials. Everything was labelled so professionally even stating if the plant was poisonous. When I go there again I will take pictures! Dave you should see the Deutzias!! As we made our way home we went through a very small village not far from us and a young boy about 11 or 12, waved to me, smiled and gave me the peace sign. All in all, a lovely day!!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Louisa sounds like a wonderful day can I take off work and go with you the next time you go looking for a truck(plants)? lol Sounds like me no matter what I go shopping for come home with something garden related.

Well ,'suse me,"a truck",Louisa? DEFINATELY'''This is the time of year to get fantastic deals on vehicles' They are getting them out to make room for the "2002"models'

Father and I have always had a pickup, still have my "old rusty red,4x4,1977,150Ford" But we've leased the past 7 yr.and just traded in and purchased our "Retirement Pickup" to someday pull our 5th wheel. In 3 1/2yr.we're selling out and goin' on the road, forever' We're liquidating now too'

We purchased a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500,quad cab long bed,Diesel(Cummings), Patriot Blue' You cannot even hear the engine running inside,we love it'

Must have a pickup Louisa, hope you get one soon' Sis'

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I agree with you entirely about needing a pickup. Your Dodge sounds a dream. Are you really selling up and going on the road?

Yes 'm,we sure are goin' on the road' "On the Road Again", is our song too, lol'

We've served America on a 18 wheeler all our life and now we will visit all our friends we've met through the years, from coast to coast and many in Canada' :D

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Oh my Sis - I really hope you come this way! What a wonderful adventure you are going to have - I wish I could come with you. Jim I meant to tell you that my probs with the site came much earlier on the chat. One minute I could get in, and the next minute I couldn't.

We will Louisa,I promise''Everyone's been so kind here to me and surely will come visit'

Oh,I understand,cannot chat either but that's life,lol'

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I just had the thought Sis that I guess you are going to meet many of your friends here on your travels - I think that would be just terrific.

Hey, Louisa -

Another gem from Clark Howard's show. I heard him talking about automobile companies feeling the crunch financially, and he had this on his website today:

New car incentives:

General Motors has kicked of a "Keep America Rolling" campaign that offers consumers 0% interest for three years on new car purchases. The savings are significant if you would consider the more expensive models. GM has accounted for 25% of automotive sales in the U.S. Huge sales drops of 20-odd% have triggered this new plan.

Chrysler decided to cut the clutter and has reduced suggested manufacturer prices on most new models.

It's never been a better time to find a wheel deal.

(See http://www.clarkhoward.com/library/tips/new_car.html for a lot of good car-buying information)

Here's articles about the struggles and competition in the auto industry and the incentives being offered to boost sales:

Also, now it appears Ford is stepping up to the plate since its competitor has!

Hope that helps!
