Victor, missed the picture of your Great-grandfather, what a super photo.
I don't think Mama was too worried about the dishes, she just had lots of common sense, as in whatever will be will be, nothing we could do about it in those days.
Let's see your old photos
It was a tough life for many years
Tell us about it Maria.
Victor, that was the style back then. Actually, you were very well dressed.
In England!
What a nice little boy you were Victor, what changed you?
Marriage. ^_^
Jada, do you mean about those days when there was nothing to laugh about?
If you want to. I just like hearing other peoples life stories. Yours seems very interesting. If you'd rather not, it ok. I understand.
I don't mind at all Jada, just wonder how Victor would feel about posting about those years
Oh yea. Thread etiquette and all that.
Fine by me. Just throw in some more old pics!
Will try later Victor, am off now to see my daughter
I have a new printer, having a hard time with scanning, very different from my last one, aside from that I am not in the least literate with computers
ca 1942/43 with my sister in Germany where we spent the summer with our Dad who at that time was a guard of French prisoners, you can see one of them clowning in the back. They were fun fellers and gave us some chocolates their families sent them.
This is my Papa at the age of 14, he grew up in a very elite and Monarch oriented family. His Grandfather as you saw early of my ancestors was the last Postilion to deliver mail to the emporer of Austria. His funeral in 1938 was quite an event in Vienna.
Right after my Papa was born he was at once admitted to a very exclusive school in that city. How ever all that changed at the end of world war I. Everything was lost.
Maria,
You and your sister where like Gibson Girls. Very pretty.
Victor, what a shot of your elders! The one of you did kind of seem like England. Perhaps in the 1930s. But very cute.
Thank you Dave
my mom has the cruel photos of us Victor... and yes they can be!!
Oh, I love seeing these old photos! Maria, I am enjoying hearing about your history. I can only imagine how scary it was.
Brook, as you can see my Mother made matching clothes for us too, she was a wonderful seamstress. There were no clothes to be bought, she made coats from old blankets, ripped one of my Dad's old suit apart and made one for me, I have a picture of it but will look to see if I can find it.
Thanks, Dave.
Great picture of you and your sister, Maria. Is that a guard or a prisoner clowning?!
Nice to see all the pics. IrisMA has all my childhood pics. I'll have to learn to use the scanner for what pics I have here.
Victor, thanks. This is one of the a prisoner, My father was the only one in charge during the day and another soldier for the night reversing duty every three days, there were quite a few of them, something like 25
Wow! Anything under the jacket in the first shot?!!
Second one - uh, umm, errr........
How many rolls?!
What fun Pictures, gosh you are only two years younger then y youngest, now doesn't that make me ancient
