Maybe hang minis around with a painted pot in the middle or something. i can also paint butterflies and bees. Maybe hang some mini butterflies along with the mini garden tools.
Geez Louise,I thought I taught my son...
Oh, I like that idea, using little butterflies too! Can't wait to see pictures!
Whew ... I am having trouble finding threads lately! I knew just a day or so ago I came across this one and finally found it again!
Anyway, it got me to thinking of some of the things I've recycled to use as planters. I was out watering this morning and spotted this little hoya cutting that I rooted, and remembered its little pot was a recycled Philadelphia Cream Cheese container! All I did was poke holes in the bottom for drainage and spray painted it green to blend in with other pots. I am partial to green or terra cotta colored planters rather than white for some reason.
These cream cheese containers make perfect planters for small or miniature size plants, or for rooting cuttings, because they are only 1 1/2" deep from the bottom to the lip, and a just a tad over 3" across. I like the Pan Pots a lot and have ordered a few at times, but the smallest I've found of those are 2 1/2" deep.
I bet those of you who are talented with drawing and painting (and I know a few of you ARE), you could turn some of these little containers into real pretty pots for AV's! I bet they'd especially work well for the mini trailers.
That looks really nice:)
Pat
Thanks Pat. If you could see it up close, it doesn't look really great .. I didn't spray it evenly, there are runs and drips ... but it's green! I like squatty containers for rooting and growing small plants.
Great tip Lin,I think I saved one of those cream cheese containers.Bet a mini trailer would love it.Now if only I could paint and make it petty.LOL.
Jan, I thought you were one of the ones who did paint those cute little yogurt type cups? I know I remember seeing someone on here who did such a great job of decorating the plastic yogurt containers, but can't remember for sure who it was.
I have no talent for drawing, painting etc. I can't even seem to do stencils without it coming out messy!
Oh, I remember those Lady Bug planters from a catalog I used to get but I never ordered them. I used to see so many cute gardening related things in catalogs but not so much anymore.
Those "Ladies" are just so adorable!
Morning!
Yes Lin it is me that makes the little waters from the yogurt cups but the best painting I can do is little dots flowers made with the end of a q-tip.I'm no painter.I have put clip art or stickers on them too.Not to much talent beyond that.LOL.I think they would be so cute with 'real' painted flowers on them.
Hi Gail,I love the ladybug planters, there just too cute.I still have mine out on the patio.
I have a bunch of water ice containers saved for standards, they are a little smaller than 4" pots, and I can spray paint them like above. I also have some deli containers that are the same size as the cream cheese, that is what I am going to use for my trailer.
My planters are still inside with whichever plants I want to put in them!!! I love the red on them.............looks like they were made for my house. Thanks!
Regarding recylcing stuff: Years ago I brought home some plastic ice cube trays my mom was throwing out. She said "You have an ice maker in your frig, what in the world do you want with those things?" I told her I had the perfect use for them ... I punched holes in the bottoms of each little "cube", filled each section with soilless mix for rooting leaves, and also used some of them for sowing seeds.
