Come on Hay, you know you want to look... I built an exercise area on it today for the horses...

Grow, use your harveswt tool, they go into storage until you sell them. Then use your plow tool and replant after that... You know you can do it.. Now if we can just convert Haystack

I'm so very sorry. but ZZ makes Farmtown so very addictive! She lets me harvest & stuff! I've got sheep, goats & chickens!

:( sorry Haystack.. I ment to dmail you but... i didnt know what to say.

I miss Henrietta stories.

Things have been.. hectic here.. Farmtown is... relaxing. I just don't have much input for here.. I do still read as much as I can each day.. I've got to build a coop this week, work full time, have 3 extra children in the house.. plus other things..

Richmond, TX

I think we ought to feel hurt. We're so entertaining here, and you defect to Farmtown.

Lodi, United States

We can't compete, grow. Remember Jackie Paper and Puff, the Magic Dragon? Perhaps it's time to slink back in our caves.....:0(

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

I guess i'm still too new at this. I do miss you guys.. Thing are just so icky here that I don't feel like interacting with more people..Farmtown.. ijust interact with trees & critters & fields of crops. :(

I haven't been on cause there is too much drama in my life right now... Everyone knows I am leaving.. so my chickens will soon be virtual not real.
I haven't had much nice to say.. times are hard right now.
Sorry to have run off.. but believe me, with my attitude right now, you all are better off.

Clarkson, KY

Ferndale, WA

OMG: THE DRAMA!!! I don't want to hear it any more, I hate Farmtown, I'm going to just run off with Farm girl, is there a farm girl out there somewhere that is not from Farmtown??? I have been blaming everything on ZZ's but now I finally have a confession, This whole thing started with CLAIRE. Don't deny it Claire? I have a first hand confession in my hand! Claire Mox*** You little sheep herder, and thief, you have corrupted my flock, and now they are scattered all over Farmtown, How am I ever going to round them up??? OK Claire get ready darling, the flood is on it's way, and we are going to float your boat big time. Everybody sing now "ANCHORS AWEIGH" he, he, he my pretty. Claire you got a snorkle? You'll need it darling...

oooo ZZ let me hide behind ur nice rock wall with you! pretty please! Don't let them get me! I'm only a kid!

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Very common problem...forum regulars tend to get cliquey.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh no... here we go again

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Nobody have any fun.
Nobody like eachother.
Nobody enjoy eachother's thread.
Stay on topic... only answer with hard and fast rules.. NO playin around.

Is that better??????

LOL

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

no bc the reason i joined partly was the banter btwn the friends on here & the fact it was fun to read the threads while learning lots of interesting facts about chickens (for me since i have chickens) if you don't have lighthearted banter.. i probably will go hide in Farmtown & not come back out again for a very long time. :)

but seriously.. i've only been on here a few months.. I researched for months back into the threads & i never saw where anyone was getting clichey. Trust me I know cliches. I grew up in a small town... that's all there was. I would never have joined something like that. I think most either don't know what to say.. fear saying the wrong thing.. or are so busy in normal life that they tend to read & hurry on with thier every day things instead of just saying hi. I know i've read a couple of the new threads & wanted to say something but then hesitated bc i dont want to sound like i know everything or sound pushy. bc i know very little. i've learned so much on here in the last few months. This is an amazing place to hang out & learn.

now that I've totally embarrassed my shy little self.. i'll go back to Farmtown.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Zeesh, I tried to go over to Farmtown to drag you away, Kitten, but they wouldn't let me in! Some dumb excuse about me not having a Facebook account. Details, details - who cares about silly details!

Any time you want to chime in and offer suggestions or comments you absolutely should do it. Even if it's just a theory, it's all grist for the mill (no, I don't have a mill in Farmtown. They won't even let me INTO Farmtown...) That's what makes DG so cool!

Of course there are some people who talk to each other more; some DGers have a really weird sense of humor and no one else will play with them anyway. They keep talking about hats, or {{hats}}, and threatening their fellow livestock-raisers with pink and chartreuse what-cha-ma-callits. But that's not a clique, it's more like a zoo.

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Deleted my message since what I said was was totally misunderstood.
All I have to say is, it's sometimes beneficial to consider somebody
else's perspective.

I'm completely NOT trying to start an argument.. but that's only some newcomers feel that way. From day one the only threads I felt comfortable with were the ones where they actually talked. The others felt way too... stiff & uncaring. I checked out other forums also as much as I could. I understand that not everyone feels that way.. but not every newcomer also wants strait up advice constantly. If people show they care about each other to me it shows they care more about the animals around them. There are a few threads just for certain things on here too.

ok.. thats all i'm saying.. i'm going back to hide in my little hidey hole. Not being shy & quiet is stressful.

I thought about this and deleted my first post.. I refuse to compromise my integrity by making condescending remarks that accomplish nothing but negative.

CottageRose, you probably believe your opinion to be as true as I believe mine to be... arguing will accomplish nothing, but create stress...

I know it doesn't sound like it here.. but I am very shy and would NOT have joined in the conversations if there weren't real people having real fun.. something I can join in freely and contribute to. If I were new and everything was stick to the topic, professional, and business like, no way would I have had the courage to ask what I felt were stupid newbie questions... I've been to forums like that.. and do not post, for the uncomfortable feelings it gives me. That is ME.. not the majority.. that is what I felt when I started here..
Years ago when I first found DG and got on the brug forum, I had to private dmail members for my first post, I was too shy to even join in!

You pay the same membership fees anyone else does, and your input is as welcome as anyone's.. but just remember to speak for yourself, not global remarks about newbies or how we should conduct ourselves.. you can't honestly think remarks like that are not going to cause friction. You have great advice as a member not administrator.

It takes all kinds to make the world go round.. we (or I) need to appreciate the wealth of diversity and welcome it with open arms... good, bad or indifferent.. it's all important.

greenhouse_gal - THATS why we're safe! You guys & your pitchforks can't get in unless you join Farmtown. :)

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Obviously what I said (now deleted) that was taken wrong
and there is no point in trying to explain myself.

I think part of the friction comes from the use of the word "clique" with its pejorative sense of intentional exclusiveness.

It is true that this forum at times becomes very "chatty"--and that some people may not enjoy or approve of that. I think efforts have been made to create threads that are clearly intended as venues for such "chattiness" by those who enjoy it. Other threads are more directly related to problems, observations and solutions. At times--usually when a thread has gone stale, but not always, the latter are "hijacked" by the chatties...but I have never sensed that the intention was to exclude others. Self-exclusion due to lack of interest does not make the disapproved of group cliquish.

It is difficult to maintain a "community" of people who enjoy a common interest and want to spend time with like-minded and sympathetic people without some differences in opinion and preference. I think most people on this forum would like to help others with their problems and to give suggestions where they feel they have something to contribute. .. while still feeling free to maintain contact with the whole group when they don't. I don't think a Procrustean attempt to define "appropriate" interaction would support a friendly and open atmosphere, any more than a cliquish and exclusive one would.

I understand where Cottage Rose is coming from but I don't see that issue as a problem here. I really enjoy the playfulness and it doesn't seem to intrude in serious topics. I don't want my toes lopped off to fit anyone's bed, thankyouverymuch. Just my two cents....
