Hey Cue, if you do a white one, you could put the moon bush in it and the jasmine bush. And just think of all the possibilities of white flowers that you could get. WOW. good idea. There is one I'm waiting on so I can sow the seeds for it called White Parrots Beak. I can't wait for the seeds to get here. A special friend has ordered them for me.

LOL, mekos, great minds think alike! I had the exact same thought of putting Moon bush underneath!!!, now.. is moon bush a perennial or annual.. and if its an annual, how do i collect seed from it?

Hey Mindy, don't you think that white one is just georgeous? Maybe I'll have to put some up for auction soon. Hmmmmm?!? What do you think? Of course there WAS a white Puya called Ramondii. It's pretty too. Puya works as a burgler alarm. NO one will attempt to get close to it's stickers. Like the yucca, it is sharp pointed.

Moon bush makes seed pods after the blooms fall off. Where the bloom was, will start a green ball with points on it too. The size of a golf ball. When it turns kinda brown, it's ready to pull, let it dry and early spring , break it open and plant the seeds.

Cue, I think where you live it would come back each year, but keep a seed pod just in case. I have to re plant but you are in zone 9 and it's much warmer. I'll have to ask someone who knows for sure. Back in a flash.

did we ever find the latin name for moonbush?

I want to save seeds anyhow, because i want to plant some in the Memory garden... and dont want to transplant the ones i have in front.

It is in the datura family. I pulled up some info last time we were talking about it , go back a while and read. I can't remember all that stuff. It's not the loco weed that is deadly to animals if ingested, but will make you sick if eaten. There is a moon bush called loco weed, that is NOT the one we have, the leaves are different. Ours is the other one that has flowers that point UP to the moon and folllow the moon across the sky. The other datura plants have flowers that hang down and droop. The info is in the thread a way back.

That would be it. That is different info. than what I found, but very close. Just make sure NO one eats it. Everyone hear that? NO EATING THE MOON BUSH!!!

seray, its currently in the front of the house... in the same bed as the shooting star. that bed is sort of a modge podge of flowers...LOL, it plays host to a litle of everything!

Well if you find those biker dudes under your shrubs at night you'll know why. Good place for it.

well, like i said, the seed came unidentified, so i sprouted them and planted them oput there...lol.. where i plant everything im not sure what is. its just starting to open as we speak ad the smell is heavenly

I have another one that is going to open tonight, too, Cue. They smell so good. And in the dark, they look like those lights that glow in the dark. Man, it's pretty. I got a couple small bushes if anyone wants one. I have a couple big ones blooming and a couple very small ones where the seeds sprouted later after those did. That is so weird. I sowed the seeds at the same time and some sprouted right away and are blooming and a couple are like 3 inches tall.

yup, sowed mine all at the same time, yet some are twice as big as others of the same age... weird.

I use to have the white brug., but ants got in the stalk and ate it and it never came back. It was a huge bush, had about 50 blooms at the same time all summer.

I may decide to use the Plumeria Pudica that mistreddgardenr gave me at our last get together in Jacksonville. I see Flowerjunkie has another brug sale going, and what I wouldnt give for a Temple Goddess, I bought 2 brugs from her in march ( Isabella and Strawberry Cream) but Im afraid to spend any money as things are tight and I do have some trades I need to pay to ship (havent forgot ya blondie).. so onward i search...lol

Mekos that hen was just plain hungry in spite of the scraps I tossed over the fence before letting them out this morning.
That parrott's beak looks so pretty not sure I like the other one though I'll have to think on it. But you and Cue are making me consider that moon bush. And I've gotten enough from you already Mekos.

Mindy, I have like 7 of those plants, id be happy to send one to you if you really want to try one. i dotn have the seed, but you are welcome to take a small plant :)

Cue I'm tempted as it was listed as a butterfly plant so it would look good in my butterfly garden

I've been hunting white Brug seeds. I thought we could have a Brug sprout party. My white Brug is not worth saving. Roots are not doing their job. If we can find the seeds I wouldn't mind chipping in for a few. We could split them up, root them and may the first bloom win. Any interest?

I was going to call my neighbor tomorrow or Sat and ask her what colors she has I know she's got a yellow one but she said she has 5 or 6 of them

Hey you guys, I'd love to chip in for some seeds. I have gold and pink but my white didn't make it. I found seeds for single white and double frilly white. Decide which you guys want and lets all go together and do the brug. sprout thingy. I'm game.

I took pics and ill post tomorrow, but its sooo much of a hassle getting them from the camera tot he PC...lol. its opened up now.. and gorgeous. and maybe we could each send her one? that way she'll have two to start with.. no one could possibly have just one of these babies...LOL
