Occasionally I find myself searching for a thread and I know approximately how far back to go, but have to back up six pages at a time to get there. Searching only helps if I remember enough of the dialogue. Is it possible or easy to have an input/ go to pg # box somewhere near that pg# list to allow us to search more quickly? Earlier, I was looking for a thread from early January...it would have been much quicker for me to input an approximate number....
Any thoughts? Please?

Look at the URL at the top of the page, eg http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/plantid/all/100 which leads to page 6 of the Plant ID forum. The 100 at the end of the URL is the number of completed postings. 100 = 5 * 20, so 5 pages done by the start of page 6. So to go to page24 for example 23 * 20 = 460. Change the URL to: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/plantid/all/460 and go straight to page 24 of the same forum

Ack! I believe that 460 at the end got me to page 6? So I am multiplying the number of threads per page by the number of pages I wish to skip and then entering that number in the end of the URL? I am glad to know the formula and thanks very much, but...umm...I have a child's distaste for multiplication...I'd really love an input box...unless it's not an easy thing to accomplish.

If you want to make it easier on yourself, set your preferences so you're displaying 100 threads per page, that makes the math much simpler.
