OK, For some reason I was thinking it was saturday night. I'm a day ahead of myself. Sorry.
CLOSED: Free Seed For Newbies! 7/23/09. Come Join Us!
The lilies would work there wonderfully. They are prolific bloomers. Diploid if you ever want to hybridize them. I crossed them with 'Big Smile' and everything else that would match. Waiting for the seed pods to mature. All my lilies look like yard sale material this year. Sale tags hanging on every scape. Trying my hand at hybridization. LOL
This is my latest bloom. It's a ginger and since loosing the tag I've been waiting for it to bloom to match it with my invoice. Ain't she purty.
LOL.. now you sound like me!
OH seray, she IS purty.
seray.. thats a beauty for sure!
Cue - that looks fantastic! Great job!
If you cut it back, can you root the pieces? Can it be rooted or does it just come from seeds?
Sure. But don't hurt your plant. Wait for fall if you'd like. It's really pretty. What zone would it be ok for? I'm in 7 would it need to go into the greenhouse?
Seeds look great. I've planted more of mine also. Some haven't sprouted yet. These are the paper towel seeds. Pretty sure you'd have to put the plant in the greenhouse or the garage, basement but will check when I hunt the info. Some of these will survive the freezes. Happy to share when I break it up this fall.
Seray, is that like a butterfly ginger type thing? Did you hybridize it? (I'm getting confused here.)
It is some type of ginger. This is the one where I can probably divide in the fall. I might even find some seeds if the hummingbirds or moths will pollenate it.
I've been hybridizing daylilies this year for the first time. Waiting for the seed pods to get dry. I gave Cue one of the lilies I'm working with. That's where the hybridizing came in.
Sorry for the confusion. :)
OH, I'm just tired, I guess. I'd like to get a few gingers started if i can some. So if it can be devided this fall, I'd love a piece. Maybe I'll have something you'd like for it. Anyway, I'm going to turn in for the night. Good night all. Talk to ya tomorrow.

ugghhhh. nothing like waking up on a Sunday morning to see a spammer has reeked havoc thru all of the non member threads. vicious little troll named blueberry555 (aka landscaping92). perhaps those Black Pearl Seed will come in handy after all.
darn, and they deleted all the trolling posts before i could get my skillful reply in.
Re: unwanted ads
Cue, if you go back to Home, Tools, Preferences, and Ads you can select what you want/don't want to see for pop ups. I had a serious problem with this before, and that solved it! I agree, it's annoying, especially when we're paying good money to subscribe. Good luck!

Good morning Cue and Al. Just popping in to say HI before the next storm hits. We got heavy rain all night and looks like it's ready to hit again.
Hi Mindy -
I think Cue is about ready to put on the black cape, swallow a couple of special black pepper berries, and become the "Atomic Goth Girl"! Please everybody beware, don't stand in the way, we don't any innocent people hurt!
(Okay - I just finished reading the Sunday comics) LOL
Al
ROTFL... Atomic Goth Girl ... creating a peaceful forum by exterminating one troll at a time!
yup, I like it.. it's catchy.. I think I shall use it...what's funny is, I had my lengthy replay all typed out and ready to send when they deleted all the posts from said troll. it was skillful and intelligent. however, doubt troll would have comprehended a single word. So, saved it, just in case I should ever have need of it in the future ;)

hi all
well Atomic Goth Girl that be you i like it, lol
God help us all...I've created a monster!
Al
ROTFL.. anyone interested in reading my reply that was rendered useless by the deletion of the many spamming threads??? at least get some entertainment value out of all my hard work, created around 7:30 this morning. pre caffienated mindset.
go ahead i am waiting
hahaha.. here goes.. just goes to show it doent pay to tick Atomic Goth Girl off first thing in the morning
this was in response to the countless spamming threads a certain person left all over the non member forums... the basic message being
"terry is hateful...landscaper92. i will not stop spamming until they give me my member name back! then and only then will the spamming stop!"
my repsonse as follows:
Indeed, it stands to reason that your exemplary behavior is far deserving of rewarding you with what it is that you so desperately seek.
By your commendable example, you have not only endeared the site staff, but many of it's members to you as well. If only you knew how highly you are spoken of in the member forums... oh, wait. That's right, you no longer have access to those forums now.
Clearly, you were deprived of attention from one or more of your guardians early in life, as evidenced by your overwhelming desire for negative attention now. Said guardians have also failed you by omitting the lesson on How To Win Friends and Influence People.
You are quickly exhausting your entertainment value here. You've become boring, stale, and stagnant. You clearly have nothing of value in your life to focus productive attention on, so you must make a nuisance of yourself in the lives of those around you. You've reduced yourself to a pestilence, a parasitic organism. You deserve no more than to be eradicated, exterminated, and suffocated from existence.
Who or what you were before you tragically lost your identity is of no relevance now, as we can only assume by your present actions, you clearly contributed to your own demise. There are no sympathies for those who would cut off their own noses to spite their own faces, as you have so done with overwhelming success. Perhaps a congratulations are in order, for in decimating your own name and character, you have gone far beyond what any staff or site member could ever do.
I wish you luck in your venture, though fruitless as it shall be. Your road seems an uphill journey. Sad really, to travel that desolate path alone. For that, I do not envy you.
-cue
...and sadly, it never made it to the thread...lol.

clap clap clap good one that was worded nicely
de blond
Hey cue that was good!
I thought I had better send this to you so you would know what you or contending when you get the batflower seed i will be sending yoou when it gets here.
Patients is a virtue they say.
Flower
Soak the seeds 24 hours in warm/hot water (hot enough that you can put your hand in). Use a thermos bottle to keep the water hot during this time.
Sow in trays, pots, etc. using a good seed starting mix in a propagator or warm place to maintain optimum temperature of 80-85F. It is essential that the soil temperature is high and kept steady. I use regular seed flats and clear plastic domes. I always place the flats on a propagation (heat) mat for additional bottom heat.
Sow 1/16 inch deep in good seed starting mix and seal the container using a polythene bag, cover with plastic wrap or use a clear dome to keep moisture in. I do not use regular potting soil - I have found it to be to heavy and does not allow the seeds to breathe or water to drain properly. Heavy soil can also cause the seed to damp off. I sprinkle a little bit of spag. moss on top to help retain moisture on the seed and mist them daily with warm to room temperature water. Bottom water can also be added to help promote good root structures, but don't drown them!
Germination can take from 1-9 months so BE PATIENT! do not toss out your seed beds thinking they won't germinate!
