PNW ..I think he may be a Cascades Frog ( Rana cascadae) Here is a link to the 13 species of frogs in Washington . That would be my guess.

Garden Pics: Breakin' Our Backs for Beautiful Blooms! #10
Ooooh what a handsome froggie! There are definitely two different kinds of taddies in my pond, so it may well be there are a couple of those little guys. :)
I caught a fleeting glimpse of the tiny frog the lady at the pond store gave me, so at least I know he's still in there!
Thats a great pot and it looks lovely in you garden.
Thank you Beahive. I planted a few low grasses around it and I will see how those work out before I add more plants around the base. I'm very happy with it!
Wowsa- that's a big pot! It looks great in your yard. :)
Fantastic pot Judi. Love the sunflower and daylily both. Love the frog and fish pic.
I was out working by my pond yesterday and we discovered three frogs. Dark ones. No good picture opportunity. Maybe later. Two of them were sitting side by side above Thoughtnot's door.
Sharon.....great frog pic, look at those adorable toes!!
Bea....that fish/frog pic is too funny!!
Judi....now that is a pot!!! Looks great!
Bea.....Thanks for the link. That's an interesting site to look around. The fish and the frog look like good friends. lol.
Cabindweller... what fun to have friends with such gardens to stroll around!
Judi.... that pot is awesome and Huge!! You planted it very well.
Sharon... What a find in a frog that would pose so well! Nice pictures of it too.
You must excuse me for not commenting on the frogs - they freak me out!
LOL!!
Katye, That is a lovely garden! I have been using the "foilage" setting on my camera in the garden, which is an auto mode that works with a slower shutter speed. It has done wonders for me in terms of capturing reds and oranges i their true color, but the whites still come out as a glow in the photos. Haven't figured out how to take a good picture of my daylilies where I have several darker varieties and then whites as well....just get daylilies with white blobs inbetween.
Welcome Pam! Glad to see you jump in!
So you all know, Pam is a good friend of ours from before I was in existance, and it has been wonderful to have her out here for a week to share our world with. She is one of the people that Mom visited when she went back to the midwest...as a matter of fact, she is the one with the maiden hair ferns growing rampant at her cabin, and SHE HAS HOSTAS PLANTED IN HER WOODS TRAILS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN DECIMATED BY SLUGS!!!!! She has spent plenty of time ewwwwing over our slug monsters as she has been helping Mom in the garden this week though!
Bea, another lovely frog picture!
Pony, Loved your sunflower! There is a good possibility that the smaller of your taddies is the same as Mom's frog. The only reason that we know that the big ones are Red Legged Frogs is that we did a bunch of research on them a few years ago trying to figure out what the monster tadpoles we had would turn into. They were big enough that we thought that they might be bullfrogs, but learned differently after we caught a few to measure and analyze. Mine are really starting to look like froggies too...what fun!
Judi, Your pot is just gorgeous! I love the way you have planted it! You have to get over the frog thing freaking you out before you come across one in your potted plants, or you will both have a heart attack!
Judi, your new pot is absolutely wonderful. I see that you have planted in it already and it looks great. Just a note from my own previous experience. Hopefully the plants inside of it are in their own separate containers. Otherwise, if you ever want to get anything out of it, it will be very difficult to say the least. I have mourned the breakage of a lovely pot that I had planted directly in to when I finally decided that its contents had overgrown its capacity. .
I LOVE the pic of 'Sundowner' with the daisies. Beautiful color. My 'Tomato Soup' plugs have grown so they are about to bloom. I'm anxious to see what they look like.
Judi, I adore that pot. It looks great in your yard. PNW, that's a great tip about planting in separate containers. I hadn't thought of that.
Red I love the hosta photo - I am in love with hostas. They seem to complement all other plants with their form and colors.
I started getting creeped out by frogs when I lived out on a wild lake and every spring the bullfrogs would mate and make such a racket. They would jump out at you from everywhere, like you were a female frog. The males were so big, and they were not afraid of anything. Plus all the years of 5 sons who would put little frogs in their pockets and they would jump out when I picked up the jeans to put them in the washer.
Uh-oh, I did not put the different plants in my big pot in their own individual pots. Yikes! oh well - live and learn. I saved my pennies for a long time to buy a big pot and then spent a lot of time looking around for the perfect one. Now I'm considering what to plant around it. I want it to seem nestled in the garden and not just perched there. Eventually, I may replace the grass around it with a stone path and more plants.
Supposed to be HOT all week and even hotter next weekend. Lots of watering!
red. Beautiful pic of the swallowtail!! Wish they would come vist my echinaceas.
Willow.. would love to see your frogs if you can sneak a shot. I just saw this huge one out on a rock in the pond. (Big Mama size.) Not sure where he came from ..but of course he was not there when I came back with the camera! Darn!
This one can do the splits..can yours?
I'll keep trying to get a picture. Love that pose! LOL
Swoon swoon over that sexy rexy rose.......
Pretty blooms Tills!
RC, Your echies are beautiful! I will have to try an orange again.... my last one fell victim to the slugs never to return. Your butterfly is just awesome! I chased one around the yard the other day, but wasn't quick enough to get his pic!
Pony, you have some pretty blooms! Bet your new froggies will love the water lily...just wait until the taddies get enough leg strength to sun themselves on the leaves! Stargazer is my very favorite lily..beautiful even if it is blooming on the ground!
Bea, How cool is a frog that can do the splits? Great pic! Your daylilies are lovely...I especially like the last pink one...just such a pretty color!
Tilly, your blooms are beautiful as well. I love the morning glory...I have one that is similar this year and love it!
I finally have time to post just a couple of pics. This was my not so little friend that surprised me in one of my daylily gardens last night. The picture doesn't show his size...he is a big boy...about the size of a baseball. I tried to get another shot with my hand in it to show the size, but he wasn't having any of it, and could move out pretty fast when it came to getting away from the crazy lady with the camera!
And the last one for now....Taking a break from breaking our backs!
When Lynnweidman and I met last fall, were thrilled to find that not only did we love gardening and live within two miles of each other, but we also both loved motorcycles and we each have our own Harley. We had been talking about going out for a ride together forever, but both of us have been way too busy to make it a reality. Finally this Sunday, we justified taking the time out so that we could show Mom's friend Pam a little of the country before she went back to Minnesota (they are both avid bike fans as well). We grabbed the boys, hopped on the bikes, and had a wonderful ride up the back roads ending with dinner at an awesome pizza place in Orting.
Sometimes you need to take time off!!!!!
*squee!* Look at that cute lumpy bumpy big boy! Awesome photo!
Grandma looks like a sweetheart, and I love her flower! I'm determined to have a whole bed of daylilies next year... they're so pretty.
