Garden Pics: Breakin' Our Backs for Beautiful Blooms! #10

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Well I can put you on the list I have of people to whom I must mail things. My sis has a few blubs also. Your flowers are very pretty.

No I didn't get a laptop. Just a slim screen, new mouse and keyboard. They are both different than the ones I now have.
I have several different Echies. Moonrise, sunset, all those sky ones. They are not growing as well as I'd hoped. I wanted divisions for the plant sale, but not much luck. I think I will move them to a better, sunnier spot this fall. They are so pretty. Our weather sounds about like yours. At least it is bearable outside now. Looking forward to the cool and rain.

I certainly wouldn't argue if you wanted to send me one- I'd gladly pay the postage. :)

I have a few things that need moving around too, my purple echinacea didn't grow at all, same with my lychnis coronarea and foxglove. I got two gloriosa daisies out of a bajillion seeds I planted, also. Time to build another bed! ;D

Willow - the "Big Sky" series has been noted as having problems. I have several of them & found this to be true. they are not as vigorous, but they get better with age. Full sun & moderate water for the best blooms.

Great! A lot of stuff going on today! I love it. It's nice to see the thread move quickly!

Willow.... great pictures, but I love Shadow and the Eucomis!

Bea... that double, pink, noid is a beauty.

Pony.... I just love the color of the Chianti sunflowers, every time I see them they are better!!

Laurie.... great story. I love the way that your neighbor thinks. her and I would get along famously!

Portland.... if you want to get back at your neighbor, then the running bamboo is great. It sounds as if bamboo would fit the scheme of her yard!! However, I've seen first hand the horrors of the running bamboo. Without a barrier, it goes crazy quickly. But, with a barrier....... well, it just takes it some years to break the barrier down and then it runs. I've read up on most bamboo barrier's and for brand that says that the bamboo wont get through, there's a least 50 stories of how it broke the barrier. Anyhow.... clumping bamboo is very manable and behaves quite nicely.

Katye.... is there a name for the echinacea that you described as pukey mauvey-melon colour? I would love to know so that I avoid it!!

Pony... with every one of my Echies that I've had for more than a year, they didn't do much the first two years. During there third year in the ground, they all went crazy. I have loved watching this pattern.

RJ....Thanks. I have only heard of the yellow coreopsis going sort of crazy in these parts, and the newer colors almost being difficult to get to thrive for more than a year. Have you had experiances other than that with them?
