Such a pretty oink violet!
And I love the yellow spotted throat on Mint Julep

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

aspenjocop, don't know her name but double pinks in avs are always my favorites when they also have variegated foliage..........hope someone comes along and can help.

Wildrose, don't you just love the Mint Julep. I had bought one but Goldleaf sent me hers and hers is different and so much prettier than the one I had gotten. The foliage is to die for from GL's........

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes I love the foliage... possibly my favorite foliage of the episcias I have.

Here is an alsobia bloom from my hanging basket outside... after a rain today.

How cool is that, WildRose! I didn't realize the blooms had those little red dots on them.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Very cool shot!

Wildrose,
I love that picture!! It's great.
Connie,
Your Episcia picture is great!!
Gail,
I always love your pictures!!
Nichole,
It's great to see you posting beautiful pictures.^_^ I bought a little Persian Prince and it has teeny tiny leaves, not girl type. I think it is mismarked.

I may have posted this plant before, but I don't care! It was looking especially pretty tonight, though the photo makes the flowers look more blue than the gorgeous shade of deep lavender that they are. The centers are darker, with the lavender fading out to the outer petals like a watercolor. It is my favorite violet, and by far the most healthy looking of my bunch ( a much loved gift from MsBonnie when I first joined this forum )

Gulgh's Christmas - think it's a semi mini, have never seen a description anywhere though.

OK>>>>>>>>JMP!!!! Save me a leaf of her.........she is drop dead gorgeous...........don't let anything happen to her............I am just starting to plant up babies of avs so maybe we can trade in the fall. Great photo, too...............

Medford, NJ

Gail, I will definitely save you a leaf...I also have at least one leaf of this one rooting. (I can't throw any healthy broken leaf away) If it produces babies, you are welcome to them instead of a leaf, or whatever you prefer..

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Phoebs, ^_^
I love that Little oink violet too!!.......you sound like me!! For some reason (probably me),my y and p keys never seem to stick and I am always hitting the wrong key!!
Just had to tease a little like you and Jim did to me.....LOL.

Lynn

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

LOLOL! I never saw it! Well, If you think about it, that little oink violet is piggy pink!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I can add this because there is indeed a gessie in the photo!

Photo is primarily of the female hummer that frequents our balcony, but as you can see, there is a hanging basket of streptocarpella beside the hummingbird feeder. From a much earlier post somewhere, most of you know I hang my streptocarpella and alsobia out with my feeders in summer.

Great shot Wild Rose! I love hummingbirds, we get alot in our yard. Just yesterday one was buzzing around and she noticed one of our feral cats lying under a bench watching her, she spent about 30 seconds hovering in front of the cat's face, while I held my breath, but the cat never made a move, just watched her in amazement.

I was in Jamaica for a while when I was a kid and there was a place in Montego Bay where there was what they called "The Bird Lady of Montego Bay". People would go to see her, she would sit you in her garden and you would hold up a bottle of sugar water with one hand, with your other hand held in front of the bottle like a perch, and the hummers (fancy jamaican hummers) would come and land on your finger to drink from the bottle. So cool.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I have heard of that happening before too. I know people that have taken their feeders in for a little while, then come out in the yard holding a feeder, and the hummers will come right to the "new" feeder.

Medford, NJ

oh wow, after sharing that little childhood memory with you all, I decided to see if I could find any info on the "bird lady" ( I was probably 10 when I went to her place, I am 45 now) and I found this article...she died in 2000, evidentally.

Rococco is adorable!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Sally, I dropped her on the floor twice and lost some leaves. I am so mad I didn't stick them but I didn't know how cute she was going to be.

I got her from PJ's violets........they often come with broken leaves but who cares as they are very healthy plants. PJ's is on ebay........

I haven't looked to see if he is offering her now. He only charges 4.50 a plant.

For jmp24,info from first class about your plant

Thanks Jannich, but I don't think that is it! Mine is a true medium purple color, with no white edges, the flowers are more than double and the leaves are not red backed. And I think it is a semi mini. Thanks for looking for me. This plant's identity is becoming a mystery! I need to ask the person who gave it to me where she got it.

Had a little tragedy this morning - forgot to lock Max's (my parrot) cage last night, and when I neglect to do this, he comes out in the morning and wanders around....well, he found his way to the AV's, and ate all the flowers off the plant in question. He didn't eat the buds, though - just the flowers that were blooming. He also took a leaf off, so now I have 2 rooting for you, Gail. Thank goodness he took it from the bottom row, so he didn't ruin the look of the plant! He also took a few leaves off of Snuggles Little Dreamer and Little Inca Girl. Considering the amount of plants he had at his disposal, he could have done alot more damage, but I guess he got bored and decided to go into the bedroom to wake me up, I opened my eyes to find him on the pillow right next to my head saying "Hel-loooooo?" Like when are you going to get up and toast me a bagel?
