This would be my best if it were at a correct setting. Ah Pueyyyyyy!!! Redheaded Woodpecker taking off from its nest this morning.

An awful shot...but lucky too. I was trying to focus on a Blue Bird juvie. When I downloaded to the computer it was not in focus and I was just about to delete it when I spotted the pink of a Rose - breasted Grosbeak!! Wish I would have seen him sooner.

Not sure that isn't a large pink object in the background!

Looking up onto the tree where the Redheaded woodpecker maybe working on hiding a peanut as it left the feeder with a peanut in its beak momentary past.

This would have been an awesome picture! (One needs to enlarge the pix to see the detail).

Typical of my luck. I went to the lake today. I spotted an Egret and about the time I went for the pic, the deer came walking by taking his sweet time and scared the Egret. *rolls eyes*

Another one from today. I know it's a yellow bird with maybe some black?

Yet another one from today. Some days it would pay just to leave the camera at home. *sigh*

Mean little **** about to attack my female hummer at the feeder, should've had my camera set on speed shot. He still looks mean.

Awesome bad pic everyone.:))

The thing that pain me the most, is missing shot of birds I don't get to see very often. Like this Red-tailed Hawk.

LOL, Hi skiekitty, Welcome aboard!

Nice "bad" pics guys!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

I like lurking here to make me feel better with my crappy bird shots. They are so hard to photograph sometimes! I had these birds that kept hopping around and wouldn't sit still long enough for me to lift my camera!

This is all I could get from the mysterious birds going all about in the trees. Couldn't even get the head of the one that's more in focus! figures.

Maybe Resin will be able to help evie. It is hard when their constantly in motion. Last year while trying to get some pics of Ruby-crowned and Golden Kinglets, it was half a day before I was able to get a decent shot of them.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

evie, The one up top, kinda look like a Cedar Waxwing. But not positive.

Buffalo, MN(Zone 4a)

Here's one of mine (one of numerous "awful" photos in my collection. For some reason I have a really hard time deleting them . . .) I waited and waited for this Red Headed Woodpecker to poke his/her head out of the nest and then he just zoomed out.

ETA-and I guess I just made it worse by making it go sideways . . . .hmmm, how do I fix that?

See, I'd probably consider that a good enough photo for keeping. But you know, we all have our own expectations.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I'm with Mrs_Ed. I thought the pix of the Readheaded wp is good. DM thanks for sharing the nest. I've a pair nesting nearby but it's so high up on the tree. My camera won't be able to pick up a sharp pix likes that.

It was so much fun watching the Red headed Woodpeckers. The tree is actually in the neighbor's yard but he doesn't feed the birds at all. I put out tons of suet and seed and we get lots of birds, including about 5 different kinds of woodpeckers. Over July 4th, the mama and daddy Red Headed instantly chased every other woodpecker away-the other birds (including nut hatches) were fine, but any other woodpecker was quickly driven away. I felt sorry for the others because many of them were feeding babies, too. They are at our camper lot and we haven't been up there for about a month, so I'm sure the babies are big now-I so wanted to be there when they fledged but they just didn't do it on my schedule! Another interesting one we had was parent and baby Pileated Woodpeckers-it looked so strange to see these big gawky babies being fed by the parents! I'll have to see if I can find a good photo of them together.

Ha would have been...............................
