Great morning glories! I might try that tip! I can turn my flash off, but then it still fashes some.

Kittrell, NC(Zone 7b)

Phoebe, the flash must be on. Cover it with a coffee filter, the filter only lets some of the flash through. I get better colors, less wash out.
Now to find a camera that gets true reds, blues, and purples.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

According to the icon--flash is off, but I still see a flash. Thought perhaps it did that b/c sensors wanted more light, so overode the no flash setting. I will definately try the coffee filter trick! Thanks! I'll let you know my results!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

OK--tried the coffee filter, but now I don't see the flash going off...so I dunno....
Anyway, here's the result...
(actually, the result is that Columbus is now eating the subject--lol!)

I've gotta try that coffee filter trick! I get so much glare on pictures!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I take horrible pictures outside with our sun so I can't wait to try this............

Medford, NJ

Phoebe, that is actually a pretty cool picture!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks!

Kittrell, NC(Zone 7b)

Phoebe, great picture! I can never get close ups like that without a lot of blurring.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Such great pictures everyone.I have got to try that coffee filter thing.
Phoebe,
I love the pictures of the bees and the rabbit food LOL. Lin,all of your pictures are great, but that Cordyline after dark is really special.
Sally, you always take great pictures...unlike me.I need to go take a few pictures, but I have nothing exotic to show like like Connie's Passifloras.
VA and Meagan, your closeups are great.Mine always look blurry.

I kid you not . . . not barely 45 minutes ago, some . . . . dumb ass nimrod tried driving his car up th stairwell to the apartmnts above us! Talk about scary! It was worse than the tornado in Ohio! The noise was SO FREAKING LOUD (sorry for the language,Dave!) - we could not tell what direction it was coming from! Oh, did I mention the stairwell is right next to my patio? The . . . . young man . . . missed our car by 2', and our patio by less than that . . .

Here is a pic I took when I went out IN MY PAJAMAS to move the car. . . you may recognize my patio there . . .

Yes, that was our car on the right, and DH on the patio!

Here is the view from our patio . .

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

And the view just outside the front door - note the railing is at a bad angle . . . the car itself is wedged on the third step.

Nichole, That is unbelievable! Thank God he didn't come through your wall. I've seen reports of stuff like that happening all the time lately! Man, he must have been drunk or high or maybe on a cell phone?!%% So glad you, your hubby and kids are okay!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

So am I, lin . . . I told DH that I wanted to move to an upstairs apartment . .

He told the apartment manager that "the transmission went out". My question is . . . if that was the case, why did he try THREE TIMES to back the car up?!? The police and tow truck are out there now, hooking the car up . . .

South, TX

How scary!!! I'm glad you all are ok!!!

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

Idiots! What are they thinking? A car DID plow through an apartment directly across from my daughter's. It went straight thru into a living room. It just so happened to be an apartment occupied by a police officer who was lucky enough to be on duty when the accident happened.

So glad they didn't hit you or your apartment and car.

I took a look at the car this morning - the tow truck just unstuck the car and parked it - it was the Jaguar!! I don't think mommy and/or daddy will be too happy . . .

That is scary stuff, Nichole. So glad that you and your family were just darn lucky.............

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Oh,Nichole, that is so scary!! Thank God you and your family are all okay.

(Zone 1)

That's odd that they didn't tow the car away, or does the young man live in the apartment complex? I'm sure if the car had been stolen, the PD would have had it towed, so if it's his parent's Jag I know they aren't too happy with their son about now! He's sure lucky he didn't harm or kill himself or anyone else!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

He's not a resident - I think he's visiting his friend, who did just move in w/his mom this past week.

Medford, NJ

Yikes! Crazy things happen sometimes, lucky no one was hurt!

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

These are just ordinary garden flowers, but I still enjoy them.

I bet your yard would qualify for Home and Gardens, Lynn!

Connie

(Zone 1)

Lynn: Wow, really gorgeous blooms! I love the Balloon Flowers and oh that Butterfly weed is really pretty! My butterfly weed got eaten by the caterpillars in the spring and the plant never came back great ... of course it didn't help that my DH sawed it down with the string trimmer! Your garden blooms are really lovely!

(Zone 1)

Ooh, what kind of plant is that white one called Miss Manners? I LIKE!

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Thank you Connie and Lin!! Actually my yard is looking neglected.I couldn't take pictures of a lot of things because they are covered in dead blooms and need some TLC.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

It is Physostegia (Obedient Plant).I have heard some of them are anything but obedient, but this cultivar really behaves well.

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

They are all very nice! I see you have some ferns growing with them. A beautiful yard is so serene. I can't wait until I get all of my plants where I want them. I have to work on it a little at a time. Trying to remodel inside and out.

(Zone 1)

Woo Hoo ... I had to go googling for that Obedient Plant and found it grows here in Florida! http://www.floridata.com/ref/P/phys_vir.cfm

Wow, they are just so pretty: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&ei=DPtcSoHTEJ_CmQevzYDUDQ&resnum=0&q=physostegia&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=VftcSujXM46HmQe9j7XYDQ&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1

Found it in PF too: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/23/

We have so many invasive, pest plants here in Florida but I could always plant some in containers! I do have a huge flower bed in the back side yard that is contained by one side of the screened deck and the other side by the driveway that goes around the back side of the house. That area is completely covered with weeds and humongous asparagus sprengeri ferns and I'm hoping sometime this year I can get my DH to help me clear it out. The major problem is the asperagus fern ... highly invasive and they have massive, strong root systems. I can't even budge them. We can't have a bulldozer in that area because thats where the water pipes come into the house and we sure wouldn't want them broken, so it's gonna have to be dug by hand. I won't even go in that area because the ferns are snake havens and I'm scared of snakes!

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Connie,
I have had so many things eaten by rabbits, pulled up by birds and battered by storms my yard changes every year....LOL.I guess that's what nature is all about. One of my favorite ferns, which isn't in the pictures above is 'Japanese Painted Fern'.It really lights up shady areas.
Lin,
Obedient Plant is invasive in a lot of places.Miss Manners is about 4-5 years old and has never tried to invade anything, but with your tropical climate,I don't know.Asparagus Fern gets really big here, but is usually kept inside for the winter and that keeps it under control.

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

Got some mums to send you, Lynn! I have already told Lin I would send her some too! Are painted ferns hardy in our Zones? Love them. I have one kind that is pretty but I don't know what it is.

Connie
