Wonderful photograph, Gail. :)

Gail, my orchid didn't look like it was going to have a big bloom either, then I went to water it a few days ago, and it was in full bloom! (it stays tucked behind a curtain on the windowsill, so it is not always in my view)

And I used the macro setting on my 8 megapixel camera.

I don't know how many pixils I have on my camera...........I was just quoting the computer tech.

Very pretty, aspen!

Gail was right and my macro was off...DUH! I finally got a close up. Thank you very much, Lin and Sally!

I took this photo of my Cordyline last night after dark and it was really wet from the rain. Kinda wild the way the flash makes it look!

Now that is a great pic, Lin. Shows the rain drops and the color is awesome!

Thanks! I am a horrible photographer, can take a hundred pictures and maybe get one decent one. I've finally learned about the macro feature too! I thought I had to hold the macro button while I was taking the picture, didn't realize I was just supposed to push it once and it would be set! I still have a lot of problems with the flash and lighting. I can't get a decent photo of a white flower of any type ... always a glare!

Lin, if all of those pics you have posted in different threads are any indication of you problems....I want your problems LOL!!!

Give yourself a pat on the back because you send fantastic pics :)

Why Thank You Aspenjocop! I am still learning ... about plants as well as cameras! ^_^

These are some Caladiums I bought in a co-op here on DG. Don't remember which ones but they are pretty.

You are very welcome, Lin. Thank you so much for the compliment, Phoebe.

I just found this on my front porch...

Wow, what a beautiful Passiflora! Is it fragrant?

and this....

(Zone 1)

Oh my goodness! How awesome! I've never grown Passie's but my next door neighbors used to have them growing up an arbor in their backyard.

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

I love them! The red has no scent but the blue one does. I thought they would be harder to grow here. They seem to be doing okay. I bring the inside when winter hits.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

aspenjocop and Lin............wow..............great pictures. Lin, you couldn't possibly have the same weather as we do. That Plectranthus wouldn't even make it through one of our winters, let alone many. Just beautiful ladies!!!

We are all learning to take good pics.........fun fun!

(Zone 1)

I keep thinking I might ask my husband to build me an arbor/pergola in the backyard and Passie's would be perfect trailing and vining over and around it!

I sent someone money (for postage) for a "Lady Margaret" cutting a couple of years ago ... it was dead on arrival, a few others who had gotten them from the same lady said theirs were dead too. Lady Margaret is a red one and really gorgeous! Home Depot had Passion Vines the last time I was there. I might check Monday when I go to buy orchid bark, they probably still have them.

I've been browsing the 195 listed in Plant Files: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=pasiflora&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search&searcher[genus]=Passiflora

Gail, I just got that Plectranthus this past spring as a very small plant. I used the beer formula fertilizer on it and am surprised at how it's grown! I have two Mona Lavender planted in the ground and they survived a couple of freezes we had this past winter but they are on the south side of the house and were protected by taller plants and I had thrown old blankets over them on the nights temp's dropped into the 20's. I was surprised they came back. They aren't as large as the container one in my picture but they haven't been fertilized like the container plant has.

Mine is supposed to be a Lady Margaret. I bought the red and blue one. A very nice trader sent me some white starts to try. Wow...red white and blue! They are very small but they arrived very healthy.

Thank you, Gail! I am waiting for some more of your pics to show up :)

How cool, I love the idea of red, white and blue planted together! It would be great with all three trailing around a flagpole!

South, TX

I have those and many other caladiums. I order from Caladium World every winter. They have wonderful bulbs.

Before they all grew in. I have them around my oaks and in my flower beds.

I just took this last night for fun to show the flag on the front of the porch. You can see caladiums.

Very pretty, Sally. Speaking of red, white and blue...lol. Lin, that would be cool if I could do something with those next year for the Fourth of July. Sally, you are great with arrangements so do you have any ideas? Trellis for all three?

Speaking of macro, and sparkly flowers (love the AV btw aspen!)
This is a Fireflush begonia bloom... way up close!

Thank you, VA and wow, the yellow just pops and the petals are subtly blushing. Very nice.

Here is something that I saw on Rachel Ray's the other day. Take a coffee filter, fold it in half and place over the flash when taking pictures. It difuses the flash and you get less flashback. It works wonderful!!

You use the micro setting of course.

Great idea, Meagan!!! I always take better pics inside than outside unless it is getting dark outside......

Since we are in such a drought, I decided to wait until September to start all my morning glories.......they don't like 100+ temps.

Lin, my daughter called yesterday to say that Florida is heaven compared to Texas. She said the temps were in the 80's and they were having a blast getting away from the Texas heat.
