Wow, everyone was so busy posting beautiful picture today, I am a little late in starting the new Daily Pics. thread.
If you would like to go back to #228 the following link will take you there:

On Sunday June 28, 2009, I went on an Anchorage Audubon Society field trip, an eight hour charter cruise, of the Kenai Fjords National Park. I'll start off this new thread with pictures from the cruise.
This is a Tufted Puffin.
Daily pics #229
Followed by a Horned Puffin. It takes a bit of luck to get a few good pictures using telephoto lens, from a 150" tour boat rolling on the ocean swells, while the subject is bobbing around on the choppy waves on the the swells.
Whoops! Should have read a 150 foot tour boat.

Great shots Gary! Such a gorgeous area and I love all the birds.
Thanks for sharing the trip with us and starting the new thread!
Burd, Very nice shots on the last thread.
Nice shots, Gary. Looks like you had a great time under ideal conditions.
Great shots. What a wonderful trip. I am green with envy. :)
Eagles must not seem be a threat when they are lit onto something. I see it all the time out front. Ducks with ducklings will even swim by them. But as soon as they take air, all the birds are in the sky (with the exception of sandhill cranes or swans) Even the blue heron are frightened. I have yet to capture the "swarm".
I enjoyed your shots even more because of the difficultly getting them.
Fantastic shots Gary, looks like you had a wonderful trip!
Nothing plain about those wrens..
How do kittiwakes do it--amazing how they stay on the rocks. Great shots of unusual birds.
Nanny...that is great that you got all three in one shot. I would be happy to just hear one...LOL! Lucky lucky you!
Love your male Goldfinch, Rose.
Wonderful shots guys!!!
Hugger, I love those house and the Wrens!
Rose, Beautiful pics especially the male Goldfinch!
Woohoo Nanny! So great!
Knip, I love the Jackdaw!
I loved everyone's photos from the last thread!
Gras, your starting photos are beautiful. Your eagle baby is so cute! What a wonderful place to go on a field trip.
Hug, Wrens are cute birds too.
Rose, love all your pictures, especially that first finch.
Nanny, I'm so jealous of your wps! Cute!! I have to run to our part to see one if I want a photo.
Knip, cute fledgling!! Hope you're able to get more pictures of the Jackdaw.
One of my Orioles.
I can echoe everyone's comments, such a wonderful thread so far everyone. Gary, such beautiful scenery, stuffs that dreams are made of! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Love everyone elses pictures too.
Egret returns for a brief visit before the area is all choppy with lot of boat traffics for the holidays' celebration.
Great shots guys!!!
Cute photo Lily. Our lake's water activities seemed to have started last night and is continuing today. Can't figure out why anyone would want to listen to a very loud radio while riding in a boat. Guess I must be getting old because it seems like 80% of them are listening to rap music.
Hug, great picture of the hummer!
Burn, love that bird feeder-wow-that's high class feeding! Great pictures, loved that one of the Robin.
Eagles must not seem be a threat when they are lit onto something. I see it all the time out front. Ducks with ducklings will even swim by them. The Sandhill Cranes should watch out also! The following quote is from a May8, 2009 posting on the AKBirding form:
"On a sad note: Yesterday a very aggressive Bald Eagle finally killed
a mature Sandhill Crane on my fields, first such event in 30 years.
(This Eagle has also been decimating my chickens all winter, and
attacking migrating geese, not to mention harassing the cranes all
spring.) The mate is searching all day long, calling for its mate. No
cranes on fields since!.
Other bird happenings, (land bird wise) Merlin flyby this morning,
Robin building nest, B.C. Chickadee feeding young.
Mossy Kilcher, Homer"
