I'll second that. I'm always checking in on my blackberry. It works, but a mobile version would be great!

1Anjl..hope that you are doing well-take care. Glad that you have some contact with DG:)

thanks!

so no one else out there is as addicted to DG as I am? lol!

I access DG from my iPod quite often using the Safari browser. What would be the advantage to an app? My thoughts are that DG is changing and growing faster than an app could be updated. Isn't it better to access it directly via the internet where things are updated automatically?

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

unfortunately the internet page is too big and doesnt fit in my screen. most f the time I cant respond to threads from the phone. I have a palm centro. was really difficult to stay up on threads and in touch with my DG friends while I was in the hospital. I've been out of town for several weeks lately, and leaving again tomorrow for another 2 weeks. just wish it was easier to load pages and stay in touch like I do on Facebook.

I just tried accessing DG from my Blackberry for the 1st time yesterday and was amazed at how easy it was to navigate. I checked/read my updated threads and even posted a reply.

There were no speed issues at all. It was just as fast as my computer (broadband).

Both text and photos were amazingly sharp, crisp and easy to read/view. Even the photo thumbs were quite easy to identify.

The only problem I had was the "joy" of typing with my thumbs on the itty bitty keyboard, but I don't think there is a fix for that.

Scutler,
Who do you have for you Blackberry service? My Blackberry experience isn't so fast, although you're right about the pics...

I'm with Sprint.

Hi Linda,

My Blackberry service is with Verizon.

I couldn't tell the difference in terms of speed between the Blackberry and my laptop. Also, even though I live in "city" limits, by the definitions used by these carriers I'm in a rural area. I'm not really. I'm in the city, but as they told me, "It's not Miami." I mention this because I often have difficulty in this area when trying to use just with my phone (talking, no extras) with other carriers.

I only tried the internet the one time. Maybe the next time I'll say it's awful, but that experience was good, no speed or performance issues at all.

Thanks scutler....now I'm kicking myself for picking the palm over the blackberry lol! My issue is the screen size and having to scroll left/right to see whole screen. I also have verizon but on my phone there are also issues with hitting 'send' on a post etc. I'll have to try it again...to be honest I havent tried it since I was in the hospital in July and 'forced' to use the phone to connect lol.

when you log on with blackberry do you also have to scroll left to right to see all of the screen/posts etc

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

I use my Blackberry (with Verizon) to log on when I'm in the woods sitting in the deer blind. My only complaint about it is the itsy bitsy fonts. I have to tap the screen several times to be able to see the thread titles, etc. Otherwise, it loads up pretty quick. I do have to scroll left to right but only because I cannot see that tiny font.

Some threads that I know have a lot of photos, I just wait until I get home to view because I get impatient waiting on them to load up.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I was taken out by a very, nasty bout of H1N1 flu. That was probably the sickest I've ever been in my life. Even though I took Tamiflu, I was seriously ill for 2wks. Even had to spend a day at the Dr's office getting IV fluids about a week into the thing. All better now, thankfully.

Anyhow, I only tried DG on the Blackberry the one time. I had to scroll a little side to side but not as much as I would have expected. I didn't have a problem with the font or with loading pictures. The speed thing may depend on where you are located with respect to towers and such.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I too, access it from my iPod... initially with Safari... then just made it a page directly on my iPod screen as a fave. Now when I click on it, it automatically updates.

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

I am accessing DG at the moment on my Blackberry w/ Verizon. No scrolling at all needed horizontally. Loads pretty darn quick, too! (I,m not far from Scutler.)

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

When I've used my Dh's BB Tour on Verizon, I've run into a problem with Dmail. I can post on threads but there doesn't seem to be a "send" button for dmail. Is there something different with the way that is set up? Or is it a weird glitch? Has anyone else had this problem?

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Susy,

I have a Verizon Tour also, so I checked mine. I don't have a send button either for dmail. I wonder if it's just the Tour or all BBs

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Hmmmm, that's odd. Guess we need to find someone using a different BB to find out?

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL well looks like I need to get a Blackberry instead of this palm centro! I tried again while in the Sierras and didnt even have a bar to scroll side to side this time :( I think it just depends on the phones...at least from what I am reading on this thread LOL!
Now if I could get Verizon to get me a stronger signal in the Sierras, I could use my phone as a modem for my laptop and it wouldnt be much of an issue :( ah well, guess for now I just wont get to log in much :(

Scutler I am so sorry to hear that you were sick. Hope youre all better now! that flu is scary!

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

Anjl, could it be that up in the sierras you're not actually on a 3g network? I think the functionality is different?

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

I have a BB Curve and I do have the send button. :)

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Debin, are you on Verizon?

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Yes, I'm am. It may have to do with the options you have set up on your BB, maybe?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

In my case, I don't know, it's DH's..I "borrow" it when he's driving on long trips in the car and that's about it.

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

I don't know which BB I have except that it's silver in color and has the words "World Edition" under the screen. Since it was supplied by my company, I suspect it is probably the most basic model currently available from Verizon - or something very close.

Anyhow, I DO have a send button on my email. Also, I noticed that I don't have to scroll side to side. Quite to my amazement, they are somehow able to get the pertinent stuff on that tiny screen and still make it quite legible even to the sight impaired such as myself. I thought I did have to scroll side to side for something the last time I used the BB to log on to DG, but that time I was answering the question from memory whereas now I have the BB in one hand and the laptop in the other, so to speak, and I see that I don't have to scroll side to side.
