This hoya I got years ago with a wrong name in a trade.... The leaves have NO spots...but it is a H. carnosa. I beieve it may be H. carnosa ssp. carnosa based on what I can dig up ....

Dominic,
Really nice.......if they smell like candy, they also have the life-safer cherry color.

noonamah, Australia

This one's still blooming for me so really should add it - Hoya golamcoina "Los Banos".

They are a little duskier than they came out in the photo, but not much

Pretty

First time bloom for my H. kerrii.

This is a plant of just one stem, and only had the one peduncle. I'm going to repot and wind it around inside the pot to see if it will put out roots and branch out a bit.

H. wayettii is a constant bloomer ...

Lin...if you keep pinching off the new growth at the top, it may branch out faster.

(Zone 1)

Thanks Carol, I will try that! I just repotted kerrii and added a small variegated kerrii to the same container. As they grow and spread I will separate them into their own containers.

Turnerville, GA(Zone 7a)

Had lots of first time bloomers here in Georgia. This is our summer down here and the hoyas are lovin' it!

Here is H. bella...from a plant that was in the "rooting" tent

And here is H. publicalya "Red Buttons"...it had two blooms that didn't last very long.

And the strangest H. vitellina...I got this plant from Carole several years ago. It had one large leaf when I got it....it STILL only has only one large leaf...has never grown. I pulled it out of soil and put it into semihydro...put it in t he "rooting tent" with the DL cuttings...and this is what happened....still no leaves, but two penducles....After I took it out of the tent to take the pictures, the unopened flowers fell off....I think it REALLY likes hot and humid conditions....I hope the s/h does the trick for growing leaves...

Chesapeake, VA(Zone 7b)

Thank you gessie. I thought it would look more like the carnosa's. i was glad to see it turn out different. It is only one "limb" as it is a just a cutting I rooted the fall before last.

Whole plant growing nicely...flower is very vibrant. Re mounted from a small piece of cork this spring to a larger one, Fishing line should be able to be removed soon as its spreading quickly and should have re taken its hold, if it hasnt already

Ric, that obscura x lacunosa is really pretty! And, you say that's only partially open? Really nice!

Prop: That is a really pretty Dischidia! It looks so cool attached to that tree bark! Great close up of the bloom too!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

That is a difficult one to grow, Dom....how do you grow yours?

Teguise, Spain

its mounted on cork, Carol, and I just hose it down once a day. If Im away for a few days, it just gets left. In my shade house with all the other Hoyas and it gets a weak feed every other week or so. Bright indirect light. Ive heard this one is difficult, but sooooooooooo far ( watch it die now :)) )its been easy for me and Ive got 2 more lots of it rooted off this one. I took it off 1 small mount this spring and its easily taken to a larger one and is shooting off. Im not doing anything special, its just luck that it like the conditions and climate here I think. I have another bit of it growing in a bit of daily direct sun, and that dosent seems to bother it either, just growing more coper colored leaves. Think it might like it a bit cooler, this one. I had 3 lots of D milnei and they all kicked the bucket together this winter. No rhyme nor reason, just obviously didnt like me.......I have problems with D vidalii too, bits always in the propagator clinging to life
Ive 4 sad pots of H lacunosa which have hardly moved a jot for 2 full seasons, but this year they are starting to grow, yet I see photo after photo of huge baskets of them....beats me how they do it, but hopefully mine are a little happier now and will run riot. They say that most plants can adapt to their conditions, I think its just getting them adapted where you can lose them so easily. Once adapted, they can surprise you, as you probably well know
