I haven't noticed any smell on the ds-70. It's outside on the far side of the pool. If we're outside in the evening the passion flower vines that are growing over the top of the pool enclosure, scent the air with their beautiful fragrance. They overtake everything.
Here's the last picture of the hoya in bloom, a kerri. My obovata was hanging in the lychee tree along with the kerri. I couldn't see the obovata because of all the fruit. Once we ate all the lychee (they are so delicious) I was able to see the hoya. The obovata had bloomed, and I missed the flowers.
July Blooms
Oh my goodness, I love the color of that kerrii bloom! My kerrii has one bud ... first time ever, and I thought the flowers were going to be white. Sure hope mine looks like that!
Soon to be MORE hoyas...seed pods... As of this morning it was snowing cv. Black Star seeds from all three pods.
I wanted to add that Hawaii is simply the tops of very large volcanos and we are attached to the bottom of the ocean. The seas may rise...but we ain't going nowhere!!!! Besides...the volcanos will erupt and make more land... never a dull moment!

^_^ I kinda knew that (about the Hawaiian Islands being formations from volcano's.) Hopefully the seas won't rise any time soon and cover those beautiful island's that I've only seen in pictures!
Wowsers! Look at those seed pods! My goodness ... your paradise is like a true fairy land to me. I can only imagine seeing hoya seeds floating on the wind!
I guess, technically, the Hawaiian islands are the tallest "mountains" when you consider their "roots" on the ocean floor.
Cool seed pods, Carol. Do you get seedling hoyas coming up all over at your place?
Mike...I thought I would see them...but actually, I don't (haven't talked to the neighbour, tho....lol). I even rubbed some on a mossy tree trunk to see if they would all sprout. They didn't. Guess it is natures way about Selection etc. I am growing out some cv. Black Start seedlings to see if I get any variations....
Yes, technically speaking our Moana Kea and Moana Loa mtns. are taller than Everest! .... and we can drive to the top!
Sunshine: That is a beautiful RHP. I can't wait for mine to grow bigger and bloom. What location do you keep that plant in? Does it get any direct sun?
Hi Lin, thanks! mine is hanging under a Croton tree Western exposure so it gets some hot sun. Flower supposed to be darker but I don't care because the leaves are just gorgeous
Jan

prop,
Nice close-up of the p-fusca. Beautiful purple shades.
Prop, Fantastic close up of fusca.
Very nice crassicaulis! I love the look of those thick leaves and the bloom is really pretty!
Its a handsome plant Lin
Woooo! Now, that is an Amazing color! I had no idea any hoya had such vivid color! Really beautiful bloom!
Ric, do those roll back into a little ball or do they stay open like that? Thanks...
Shelley
I had to go google Hoya loherii and found this: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.hoyanoya.se/hoya-loherii-3-DSCF1837.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hoyanoya.se/hoya_loherii%2520galleri.htm&usg=__ocdBVk4ESHDpbX0nEWYT_EMXZ_s=&h=300&w=400&sz=29&hl=en&start=10&um=1&tbnid=CWYIrqjaRSXtNM:&tbnh=93&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dimages%2Bof%2Bhoya%2Bloherii%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26um%3D1 and I like the leaves on it too!
I love that colour!! That's the same colour as my living room walls...LOL
Shelley,
I caught it at the time the flowers were beginning to open.....they do roll back into a ball like a lot of the other hoyas. At the top of this thread Propmaker posted a pic of the fully opened loherii.
It is a wonderful rust color.....first time blooming this one for me and I am totally pleased. The pedicel is extra long on this hoya as well.. very interesting. I have a new found respect for this hoya. For 3 years it just sat there with no blooms. It was worth the wait.
What do you think of H loherii's scent?
Dominic
Ric, thanks for the info. I agree with everyone, that color is stunning!! Is there a scent?
Sarah--how exciting!!! I've had H. motoskei flowers and they're lovely...seen photos of camphorifolia and just a beautiful deep pink...please keep us posted...
Shelley
Lovely Matilde!!!
Carol
Carol, thanks!
This H. rubida. The pot of it lost it's tag and I have been convinced it was a HUGE pot of cv. Iris Marie. When I saw the bloom I thought it was a joke someone was playing on me!!! A friend confirmed the ID...really a nice flower and the 'white' or 'silver' on the flower is the light hitting the hairs which are so long they are defecting light!!!
