Hey you all.
Let me introduce myself. I'm bltefft (Bobby L Tefft) and this is a GREAT forum!.
I am a retired (after 30 years) high school science teacher (physical sciences)
I served in the 82d Airborne back in the early 70's.
I often sign off with:
the Hackster, that's me - my Harley Road King has a sidecar, which is called a hack, thus my friends call me the Hackster - the one-legged, bird watching, Harley riding guy.

Introducing myself - Columbus, Ga, USA
Hi and welcome to a great forum!
Welcome aboard, Hack. I've owned a lot of bikes-- just never one as slow as a Harley. :)
Oh reddirtretiree, that was mean.

Hi Bobby and welcome. You will enjoy Dave's Garden a lot. I bet you made science class fun. Several science teachers helped me to decide on an RN career.
Nice wheels! Science is cool, and you are, too!
Welcome to the best Bird Watching Forum I know of!! I dont mind Harley's but we just had Bike Week up here in early June, and I live one street over from the fair grounds where they held the event, very loud when hundred's of Harley's are roaring into town. lol
Welcome to the forum Bobby!!!! Beautiful bike!
LOL, Red that was mean but my Husband and I cracked up (he owns a Honda motorcycle).
Bobby, My sister has a Road King.
I know you'll love it here!
Welcome to the Bird Watching Forum!
Welcome, hope you'll have some photos to show us from your travels.
Can't knock a Honda. I had a 750K forever.
Then I bought me a used 2003 HD Lowrider and soon thereafter, a 77 yr-old man ran a red-light and dang near ended my bird-watching days.
I lost the leg a month later to Gangrene. When the doc said it was either me or the leg, It was no real decision, hard, but you gotta life.
Sometimes ,I jokingly tell folks that a while back, when gas got so high it cost and arm and a leg, I settled for half a tank.
the Hackster rides again.
Good to see your sense of humor is intact. No doubt bikes are dangerous. I quit riding in part because I no longer wanted to expose my wife to unnecessary risk and gave up sport bikes for the same reason. A 60 year-old man has no business riding 150 mph+. I raced dirt bikes when I was young, broke my femur on one when I wasn't young. Had a couple of Pro-Gas drag bikes that gave me plenty of adrenalin rushes. Bird watching is a much safer hobby. The only Honda I have now is the engine on my lawnmower. :)
Yeah Resin, but yours gets better mpg.
Oh, I've always wanted to ride in a side car! Love being on a bike too! had a Honda myself back in my younger college days after the USAF in early 70's.
Welcome to DG. I'm sure you will find lots to enjoy here!
^_^ Sheri
Welcome Hack...nice bike you have there! We used to use a bike to round up our dairy cows way back when...finally got a stock dog and a four wheeler...lots safer to use on the farm!!
Enjoy your time here!
Hey there...and welcome! Glad you found as and I am sure you will have a great time here. DH was in the 101st AIrborne in the 70's.
The 101st - another strike outfit. Ask DH if he knows the only two things that fall from the sky. Its an old airborne soldier joke.
I'm really enjoying the "birding" parts of this forum.
All I can grow are tomatoes. Get some on the vine right now, just waiting for them to get red.
Welcome to the forum Hack, Glad you join the gang of bird nuts. Looking forward to see some pictures.
Mrs. Ed, you do know I am saving the pic you sent!
I will ask DH about the joke tonight..do I really want to know tho!!
I have a sister in Alpharretta GA.
Maters are good....heck there's only 2 of us here and I have 8 mater plants!! LOL
hey, dont' blackmail me!
I think my DH's Dad was in the 101 in WW!! Is that the skiing one?
Mrs Ed - Is that you? wow, what a rockin wheelin teacher them children got!! (oops, sorry bout the poor grammer.....thught I slipped this by without her seein it.
Birdie, yah that's me, but the Teacher is OPBirder. You should see when I first got that scooter how all the women my age would ooo and ahh over it. I think it's my mid-life crisis toy. Though DH and I are hot to get a Harley Tri-glide (trike) next year.
Mrs_Ed, I don't know if I could ever get used to having both legs in front it me. I'm so used to straddling a motorcycle.

my dh was in 82nd, and knew immediately...he said "birdsh** and fools!" ;0)

seedpicker_TX, your dh is dead on. Say "Hello" to a fellow trooper for me.
Ya'll be good.
the Hackster
PS, My oldest son and his wife live in Austin.
I'll do it :0)
He said that back in the 70's 101st were still airborne, but after 1979 it changed, so I guess you were in when they were still jumping?
He has around 2K jumps logged...and his back can attest to all of them! :0)
-T
Yeah, they were still jumping when I was in. I seem to remember a combined training exercise with some unit of the 101st.
I was in the 2/505.
I was only in 2 yrs so I had no where near 2K jumps.
Welcome hackster,I ride an 883 hugger ,hence my name huggergirl !! dh rides a 1200 custom sporty, and I pack a nikkon and a panisonic point and shoot, soo beware, welcome ,welcome
I leave town for a week and you guys get wild and crazy! A friend took me for a ride on his Harley a couple times. What a blast. I felt like I was flying. Hope to ride again soon.
Hackster - I heard that airborne joke, too. My 23 year old son has his wings, and is currently at NTC preparing for his second deployment to Iraq.
Thanks for mistaking me for mrs. ed, birdie. I'm flattered!
Welcome Hackster. You're gonna love this site.

Welcome Hack! This is a great BB with great people. Love the bike! I used to ride many years ago, but it was dirt bikes more than anything.
