Daily pics #227

Norman, OK

linth, I'm impressed with the bush that warbler is in. What is it?

A couple of poor shots of a Green Heron that has been on the ponds recently. It was almost dark and he just won't let me get close to him. He has the most beautiful blue-green plumage with a rufous throat. Maybe I can get some better pics with an early morning shot.

Great shots everyone from the weekend. I have never seen a New Holland Honey Eater. What a neat bird. So pretty and petite.
The indigo looks like he is posing for the shot.

This one was upset because everyone was hogging the feeders and it couldn't get anything to eat.

It seems the Hollyhocks have lots of bugs that taste good to these birds.

I have to agree Duc those pictures with the Orioles on the hollyhocks are very impressive. What is your camera of choice, if you don't mind me asking.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

duc, nice photos of the Orioles in the Hollyhocks.

red, I'm not certain what bush the Prairie Warbler is in but I'll see if I can find out. Perhaps somebody else knows.

Here's a 'Cedar Waxwing' who happens to enjoy the berries on the bush in question.

My eyes are very tired...Is this a juvie or an adult female Pileated Woodpecker? if it is the juvie it came all by it's self!!! I was working out in the yard and they were all just a carrying on flying around. I was hearing flickers too but never saw one.

Thumbnail by nanny_56

Hard to tell, juv Pileateds are not so distinct as most other woodpecker juvs; from Sibley the only difference is the eye colour, mid-brown in adults, dark in juvs. I'd say it'd need a better resolution pic to tell for sure!
