Garden Pics: See the loves of our labors...#9

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Same Landini (?) with Sedum Purple emperor, Euphorbia Shillingii, and a variegated Eleutherococcus peeking out from behind the euphorbia. It will get moved as soon as the weather cools off.

Rose 'Voodoo'
This is one strong rose - very upright & nice flowers for cutting. Smells good, and the colours change just a bit depending on the weather. but always true to its coral-orange-golden yellow tones.

and finally, a toast to all those reliable, easy to grow, & often overlooked as common: a 7 year old red-eyed Coreopsis, who never fails to perform & always delights with the first blooms.
this series of pics were all taken this morning. Since I work M-F, the only time I can take pics is on the weekend. After work, the afternoon light is too harsh - glaringly hard on colours. There are more, but I don't want to put anyone to sleep...

Nice pictures Katye.

I like this silly little cosmo:

(Silly because I dug them up a while back and tossed them in an old rubbermaid tote for lack of a place to put them, so NOW they've decided to bloom.)

My new climbing rose is blooming but now I can tell that JACKSON PERKINS SENT ME THE WRONG ROSE!!! This is not the Social Climber I ordered. I will be calling them first thing tomorrow morning!!!

(Judi)Portland, OR

Nice pictures everyone!! Especially like Kathy's Coreopsis and Pony's happy Bellflowers.

I've only been working outside in the early part of the day. Once it hits 85 I melt. LOL And yes I'm keeping everyone supplied with cold water by the jug. Getting the composite boards tomorrow (bigger ouch!), so we're almost there. It was blissfully cool today, but we took the day off for other chores. Cooler yet tomorrow, should be a good day. My garden has been wilting even with twice a day watering.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I hear ya on the melting, Sally. It was in the mid 80s again here today. S'posed to cool off for us tomorrow. I couldn't do much today after working too hard in the heat Friday and Saturday, just did some puttering in the flowerbeds. I'm hoping my back will cooperate tomorrow and let me start my pond, since it won't be so danged hot.

Eugene, OR

Amen to that!! I've got iris that need dividing after we get the deck finished. Good luck with the pond!

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks! And good luck with the deck- that'll be soooo nice when it's done. :)

After 5 days of 92 - 95 degree temps it is nice to have a cool breeze. Good luck to all of you doing projects!

(Judi)Portland, OR

I just called Jackson and Perkins to let them know they sent me the wrong rose, and they were extremely helpful. They will send the correct rose to me in September since it is too hot to send it now. Since they were so helpful I will definitely order from them again!

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

ME TOO saying hooray for the heat going some! Worked outside most of the weekend, and was SOOOO pleased to have the temps drop Sunday night! One of my projects required long pants (4' snake grass!) and was not able to even bear thinking about it until last night!

Katye, your clems are wonderful! I really like your funky green and white one, and Mamori, but all the pics were great!

Pony and Tilly, love the bellflowers! I have bunches in my garden and they are a wonderful addition to almost anywhere!

Azorina, I think your "blooming hosta" is really cool. Kind of odd what mother nature surprises us with, isn't it?

My rose garden is an almost eye boggling wash of color right now, even with not much help from the roses themselves.

When I built the rose garden, I planted lilies between each rose bush. The oriental varieties lasted one season before sucumbing to the slugs and/or rodents, but the asiatics and species varieties that survived have done very well.

ROYAL AMATHYST....just love this rose...the blooms look almost artificial when it is just opening and the smell is heavenly. It doesn't hold up well at all to heat though, so I really wish I had planted it on the cooler side of the house.

And I haven't posted a mountain pic for a while... it was lovely last night.

Beautiful everyone!! I really have to get out and take some pictures.

Had to back off the deck a little, needed to take mom to ER last night. She had a bad spell of what they think was vertigo, still doing tests. We were up half the night and had to take her to get an MRI today (3 hrs.) we're all exhausted. Soon as we recover we'll get back at it.

Has anyone heard from redchic?

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Hope your Mom will be OK.

Hydrangeas are really pretty, glad they came back from the big droop with the heat we had.

I love these, but the geranium didn't do as well as usual this year, it's usually covered with blooms. The little ones are actually a pale yellow. Have to figure out how to get a picture with true color.

Eugene, OR

Thanks everyone, testing is done. See the doctor on Mon.

Thank you Judi, that is my favorite rose, it goes more yellow as it opens and smells wonderful.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Good wishes to your Mom, Sally. I hope everything's okay.

That Tequila Sunrise really is gorgeous. I have no roses here yet, I think I need to get some.

Joylene Nichole and Alium going to seed. Tried collecting seeds but they didn't germinate. Anyone know how I should have done it?
