I should have been outside today weeding my many beds like this one. It's terrible..
2009 LILY BLOOMS #6
And trust me, that would have been more fun. But instead, I've been house bound working on the walls in the breakfast nook getting them ready to paint. *sigh* I'm now heading back downstairs to find the spackle. This is just the latest episode of my personal "This Old House" saga. See ya later...

All lovely, Ticker!
Looks like your dark lilies might be Landini.
I, too, am at that point where I couldn't possibly comment on all the beautiful lilies. But please know that I'm enjoying each and every one. :)

Edited because I am at that point where I couldn't possibly spell, either.

Lovely you guys!! Just lovely! This seems to be a bumper year for our lilies!! Yay!!
Rita, love that black one . . . Landini is calling my name . . . have been tempted by it's beauty before.
Moby,
I would have loved to see a pic with the pollen on your face.
Is it the rain and heat that is making the lilies so great?
Beautiful blooms everyone. Moby, what a terrific bed of lilies!
I love 'Arabian Red' too....blooms the same time as 'Siberra' here and what a stunning combo it makes. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/124126/
I ended up throwing in some 'Dizzy' with it too!
I had bought Landini from Brent and Beckys this spring but since it was panted late its no where near ready to bloom yet. But I have those red black ones all over the yard that I bought from VB Wholesale and obviously forgot about. Now that they were blooming I was wondering if they might be Landini but since I had only seen pictures I was not sure.
Love em all! Pink Panther is about as cute as a flower can get. Here's Luminaries. I hated it the first year it bloomed and almost sent it back because it had almost no gold on it. Now, on this cool morning it has more gold than it ever has before. It was so nice to get a break from the humidity today, I worked 6 hours weeding and watering. Would have worked longer, but I have to get some sleep before work tonight.
Wow! That is a monster clump. Stunning!!
What a great shot of the Pixies! Good enough for a magazine or catalog! If only we could warm up and dry out! My lilies are drowning!
Very nice, Mugso1!
Thanks!
I went back and looked at all the pictures that have been posted since I had been here. One is more beautiful than the next. I'm starting a list of 'favorites' and it's getting way too long!
This is my lone lollipop that's blooming. I'm hoping others will join it soon. It isn't a very good picture but I didn't want it to feel left out.
I've found 'Lolipops' are very vigorous growers. It multiplied extremely fast compared to others. They grow to be a little shorter than other liliums, thus staking is never an issue with them. :-) Lolipops do well in our Southern garden as well.
Here I've another Oriental, Stargazer. Stargazer is quite tall. One of my all time fav.
All I can say is that you guys were really busy taking pictures while I was at theNALS Lily Show in Springfield!
Incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The NALS show in Missouri! Please share more!
Please tell me if the foliage on the lilies will be green all year or if they die back? I've never had them before I got into a coop. Thanks Elaine
Elaine, in our Southern garden, lilies stalk will remain green and healthy looking until they go dorman in late Fall. At which time if we need to transplant them, it's best to do so while they're in dormancy.
Thank you. I have a very large bed of several plants and lilies and some are looking like their cooked and I have really kept the bed watered. I don't want to lose them but a couple are turning brown. They have bloomed and should I dig them up and move to a cooled sun spot. Elaine
Over watering is not good. Lilies need well drained soil and about i inch of rain a week. Hmmm... I am reaching near 12 inches this month of Mother Nature's tears
Our weather has been in the upper 90's with heat index of 102-108. They are right by a cement drive way and I thought that might make a difference. Tonight we are getting some rain and I guess it will be about 1 inch. I'll keep watching them and see what happens. Thanks everyone. Elaine
In the deep south, lilies are better grown in light or partial shade. That enviroment, I am afraid, will fry them.
