What are the specs on the new server? It appeared to be kicking @$$, taking less time to access things.

Hardware:

AMD K6-2 450Mhz
256MG RAM (PC133)
HDD: FUJITSU MPE3084AE, 8063MB w/512kB Cache

Software:

Red Hat Linux 6.2
Apache/1.3.14
PHP/4.0.3pl1
mysql-3.23.27-beta
sendmail-8.9.3

I currently am only using 3 gigs of the 8 gig hard drive.

The next thing I'll be upgrading will be the CPU. I can get a Pentium III 800Mhz for pretty cheap, these days. That'll probably happen when the server starts to get bogged down again, but I figure what we've got will last us at least several months.

Backup? Mirrored?

The backup goes across 2 other machines, both offsite. I have regular cron jobs running at midnight, sending both the files (code, images, etc) and database (everything else) to a machine in my house.

That machine then sends it to a second machine within this house.

I keep a mirror copy of davesgarden.com on the machine that used to be our server - it's my house's server that handles our household's internet usage. If I ever have to mirror, all I have to do is flip a switch and we're back online.
