Hummingbird Adventures 12

Fresno, CA(Zone 9b)

What stunning hummers, Duc. And the poses you caught are wonderful. I can't seem to figure out how to set my camera fast enuf to catch such movement. Linda

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Twin, the poses are just lucky shots as are all my pictures.

The "Duke" must have been on a break because this handsome guy was on his branch.

duc,
He's got pretty toes, but I like Duke's personality. LOL!
I'm sorry I haven't post any photos the last couple of days. Been having some problems with my internet provider and hope that changes when we switch next week.
Will have photos to post later in the day. Just wanted to let you know I hadn't fallen off the earth or anything, just the net. LOL!
Duc's right Twin, I take on average 50 to 100 photos a day, (when I can), and out of that I get only a few that I would consider usable, and of that amount I might get one Oh Wow, photo every couple of days. Thank God for digital camera's.
Jonathan had to go home, so I have to wait for him to either email the photos or to get him on DG. LOL!
Here's a couple I took on the 17th, but didn't get to post.
Zoom!

I'm not sure which of the girls this is. She sure is hungry!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I thought so, it's Zippy! I think she just likes the attention.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Man, my neck hurts! A different view of Zippy!

Faster than a speeding bullet. No wonder they are so blurry!

One shy BCH.

Color! I see color! I also see that this is Trickster.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Dang! I hate it when their wing covers their face. What do they think I'm the papparazzi? Maybe of the hummer world! LOL!

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Last one taken on the 17th. A BCH.
Will have more to post after I get them off the camera and on the computer.
Have a good weekend everyone, and have some fun!

Hi SW, glad to see you back. Cute pictures, especially liked the one of Zippy turning her head.

Marlton, NJ

Nice ones SW!

Do all of you see all 4 types of western Hummingbirds?

Eugene, OR

Great pictures SW!!! Too cool and windy for the last couple of days for me.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

My Anna's were really hungry just as the sun was coming up. I guess my Rufous male has moved on already, probably because there are so many Orioles at all the feeders.

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

Multiple (especially Anna's) at a feeder never cease to amaze me. Mine are ALWAYS solo, and if they happen to come upon another one at a feeder there's always a battle---gender seems irrelevant. I now have 4 feeders spaced throughout my property so they're all out of line of sight. When I had them close enough that one feeder was within sight of the other, one hummer would leave the feeder it was at and chase another one off the OTHER feeder. Maybe I should start putting a little Prozac in my mix.....maybe it's got something to do with Gilroy garlic....I dunno.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

99% Anna's here - with the occasional Black Chinned or Costa's. I always watch for the odd ball during migration, though.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Truth to tell, I don't remember things well. Like names of types of birds, and flowers, sometimes people. I seldom forget pet names for some reason. What you see me post is what I got.
Here are some photos I got yesterday. Once I got a photo of four at once? Must have been during the migration.
This one was hiding out in the gh yesterday. Must have decided to forgive me, and that it was warmer. Still there today too!
Through the bananas.

Not sure, but I think it's Zippy. Foggy lens again.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

She really liked that perch.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I'm still hiding in the banana to get closer for a better (Hah!) photo. Well I tried anyway.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Trickster likes that perch too.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Another favored perch. All those water drops are condensation on the inside ceiling of the gh. Sometimes I go in there and it rains on me. LOL!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

They weren't flying much at all. Yet another perched.

Eventually the sun did shine, and Sweetie Pie got off the nest to feed. I'm sure she has one, but not where it is.

Shy BCH made a swoop in and out visit.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Ah, that's better you can see the white by his eye.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Zippy!

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Can't tell for certain but believe that this is Trickster. Look at his beak.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Yup, it's Trickster.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

The best of the BCH so far. Doesn't he look so proud and pretty!
The boys are making me stop, so we can take their Dad to see Star Trek Movie.
Hope to finish posting photos later on. If not tomorrow!
Happy Father's Day!

duc....I'm in feeder and camera envy. LOL Never have multiples on mine.

Nicely done SW. You have so many friends that come to visit.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I have a few friends that come visit a lot, Sally. Remember that I live where the hummers hang out all year long.
Camera and feeder envy, yes, I'm guilty of it too. I'd love to see more visitors at the same time. I really do believe I'd have more if ALL the Retirees in Sun City (part of Menifee), didn't hang out feeders. LOL!
Trickster was chased off by our boy Zoom! (still on yesterdays' photos).

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Look, Zoom's starting to stick out his tongue!

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Zoom is so handsome, and hungry!

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Judging from this photo, the Trickster played a joke on me again with his wings covering his head in the previous photo. Here he is caught with his wings down. (LOL!)

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Got to say Wow! Go Trickster!

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Eugene, OR

Wings back, stretch that neck forward!! LOL

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I wasn't able to get as many photos as I had hoped today, and most of them aren't as sharp as I'd like, but hey, any day you get to see hummers is a good day! : )
Zippy was very hungry this morning. Two hummers in the gh, when I went looking for Olympic swimmers.
These photos were taken today.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Sally, wait til you see some of these photos I've got coming up! Talk about contortionists!
Morning feathers. LOL! Looks like I feel after a bad night, all rumpled!
