You made it! And it sounds like you are happy, happy in your new home. After seventeen hours, I'd welcome any bed to fall into. Good thing your new place came furnished.
Introducing Summer & her acre of milk & honey ...
Welcome and hope some day to met you. Right now I can not travel due to business and my husbands health but if I ever get to get out to the coastal area again I would love to come and met you and see your place.
I can only image the joy you are feeling.,

Summer the next time I head over to the beach I will stop by. I'll Dmail you for directions. I'm excited for you! When I moved here from San Francisco 14 months ago, as soon as I got here I felt like I was 'home'.
It's thrilling - I got goosebumps imagining your arrival. Welcome.
Kathy
The day we moved into out home here I knew what HOME meant. We had lived in So Calf all our lives but was tired of the smog, the heat, the people, lack of so many things and here it is heaven on earth and we have 10 acres here our little piece of Heaven on Earth
D
Iris I know what you mean. I lived in So Cal for 30 years then moved to San Francisco for work. That was an improvement but when I came further north and landed in Oregon, I knew I was home.
Summerkid, how are you doing? Are you settling in ok?
Same here, grew up in So Cal. So sick of traffic, smog, etc. don't even want to go back and visit, I invite everyone to visit up here. LOL
Summer, how are you doing with the unpacking? Are you feeling at home yet?
Exactly Sally. Since leaving So Cal I have not been back once!
We did return to CA but never because we really wanted to...many times for our son who only moved here 5 years ago and wonders why NOW not much sooner. To visit friends.
Will not be returning again, as no need anymore and truthfully with honey's health we could not or would not.
Smog would kill him now am sure of that.

Summerkid, I hope all is going well for you in your new home. I just found this thread and wanted to welcome you to the amazing PNW. I wouldn't live anywhere else.
You should be able to grow tomatoes without any problems using black plastic to warm the soil and Wall-O-Water to hold heat during the night until the weather warms.
Gourdbeader grows tomatoes. She is one of the nicest people I ever met. If you are ever over this way stop by.
Oh valleylynn, thanks so much! I AM LOVING it here. But your advice about the tomatoes is invaluable. I hadn't thought about the water walls.
Why don't you come visit ME?!!!
I'm not sure where Rose Lodge is. We have been planning a trip to the coast sometime next week. Maybe we can stop by and say hello. : ) If we come I will bring some tomato seeds for you. Winter Sowing would help you get off to a good start. Here is a beginning link that is very helpful to us in our area conditions.

You will love the Spring and Summers. Actually, you will love all four seasons here. : )

I am leaving for Chicago in the morning & won't be back till next Wednesday night. But other than that, I am wide open to company. (Rose Lodge is on Highway 18, just 7 miles off the beaches of Lincoln City. Come one come all!)
Have you gone to the Blackfish Cafe yet. They have an awesome chef, the food is excellent.
I will let you know when we decide to make our trip. I make it sound like a real journey. We are only about 1/2 hour from Lincoln City. : ) I have been gone some much on family business the last year that I am just now beginning to think about making little day trips. We love Lincoln City.
If/when we come it would just be me and DH. All of our children are grown and gone. Now it's just doggie children.
Just wanted to let you know we are going to have a gathering here at our house the end of June for rock hunting and trading, if you are interested in coming. It will be a great time.
Terrific. See you soon, one way or another, doggie too.
