Thanks Karen. Sorry to here that the Silene didn't make it for you. Maybe it's that you pampered it? they really can put up with just about every scenario other than sitting in soggy wet soil. I've seen them in rocks as well as rock gardens, loam soil, bark o mulch, full shade and full sun (not the variegated one) and they were just plugging right along. At a place where I do some landscaping... I planted the Druetts vareiegated between the rocks in a stone and sand staircase. They've lived there two years now.
