Last night when I was cleaning I came across a cookbook from back in ’92 when my daughter was in day care. For Mother’s Day the teachers put together a cookbook with recipes given to them by the 3-5 year olds. The teachers asked the kids if they knew how to cook (and of course they all did!). They then asked them to explain how to cook some of their favorite items. The kids didn’t know the teachers were putting together the cookbook and they didn’t have a chance to ask their parents any questions. Here are some of the hilarious “recipes” from the kids.
CHOCOLATE CAKE
1 scoopful sugar
2 scoops powder
Put it in the over for 6 minutes on 24 degrees. Put 28 chocolates on the cake. Let it cool down then eat it.
TACOS
Salad (a few)
Cheese (a few)
Gravy meat – put in microwave to hotten it up
Hot ketchup (taco sauce)
Warm up big taco circles. Put all the stuff on and eat with your fingers.
HOT DOGS
Grill 8 hot dogs in a pot for 5 minutes on real hot. Then you eat them with your mouth in a bun.
SLOPPY JOES
1 whole one of meat
A little red sauce
6 onions
3 peppers
Fry it all together in a pan for an hour on 7. Makes 2.
BACON
Put 3, 4 or 5 bacon on a pan. Cook it on top of the stove for 6 hours on 5. If they’re all cooked, you take a paper towel and put them on the towel. If there’s grease left you should pour it in the sink.
CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP
Take 3 gallons of hot water. Put the egg in it from the package. Turn the stove up to 3 degrees. The egg cracks open and all the noodles come out. Cook it for 1 hour. The noodles get hot. Every minute you stir it. Some green things—cut up clovers—come out and the soup turns yellow. Put 13 pieces of chicken in and then put it into a bowl and give it to the person.
OATMEAL
58 brown sugar
Put 68 oatmeal in a cooking pot. Make it hot to 84 degrees. Cook it for 57 hours. Put the brown sugar in a bowl. Put some milk in the oatmeal. Stand there for 50 hours. Eat it.
PICKLES (this one is by my daughter)
Take about 3 cucumbers and you boil them in a great big pot for maybe an hour on 3. Take them out and then you cut them just like pickles and then you get some dill. Put the dill – how much you want – in a jar and then you put 6 pickles in the jar. Put the cover on, seal it tight, and that’s all.
Hope this gave you a chuckle! It sure was a great idea by the teachers!
