She was an escapee that showed up at one of my bird feeders. Although an obvious pet on the loose, no amount of coaxing would persuade her to fly to me. It took me several days of baiting an improvised trap with some parrot food borrowed from a neighbor to catch her. Although she doesn't speak words, she regards my wife and I as part of her flock. She talks to us constantly in her Cockatiel dialect. She is intelligent. Recognizes many words and is a great watch bird. If anyone or any animal is in our front yard, she screams an alarm call. She also recognizes both our vehicles from others. When she sees my wife's car coming down the street, she immediately starts her alarm call. The downside of keeping Peaches, is traveling with her. Birds in an RV are messy and a pain in the a$$. Looking forward to seeing your bird. |
