I've found some of the Hoya are tougher than others. I have two old, huge ones that I leave hanging on the front porch. If we have a frost, I wrap them with sheets or set them on a bench up against the house and cover with sheets. They don't seem to mind even into the mid to high 20's. If it gets colder or stays cold longer, I move them to an enclosed porch where the temp hovers in the 40's - 50's. I find bright light is more important than temp and of course water far less. If they stay in dim light, they start shedding leaves. It gets colder here than Az but we see many 100 + days in summer.
