I first saw this 3 years ago at Fairchild gardens. I was their when they gave agristarts a piece to clone. They gave it the name Excaliber and labeled it as a Colocasia which it is not. As the story goes they are not sure were the plant originally came from. It was collected in south america. Aparently this species was found at a very very abandoned indian tribes camp. From what they believe these indian tribes would plant Caladiums around the camp for protection against evil spirits. Also here is something interesting this is a mutation off the same plant. You will see some odd mutations with plants like this sense they are being mass produced in TC labs. I thought this one was interesting and kept it. Maybe worth a trade name later? |
