Comments regarding Hummingbird Farm

I’m from the next town over from Hummingbird Farm zone 4b-5a but recently moved to Florida zone 9b. Cindy has been very helpful and always responds very quickly to all questions. She will not send her plants until the time and plants are ready. All plants I’ve purchased over the years from Hummingbird Farm have been healthy and robust plants. It’s hard to fail when you receive premium plants from Hummingbird. Highly recommend. Jeanne

My husband and I were in Maine and really enjoyed our in person visit to Hummingbird Farm and happily left with six new Clematis. Cindy is so helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. She patiently answered all of my many questions. The selection of clematis plants is amazing - spanning both popular varieties and also offering many very very hard to find varieties. I'm looking forward to visiting again when we return to Maine. I have also ordered from Hummingbird Farms online several times and received healthy well packaged Clematis that have thrived in my garden.

I'm in zone 3 North Dakota near the Canadian border. I've been a customer of Hummingbird Farm for many years now. Hands down, this is where you want to get your clematis from. This is the only clematis nursery I recommend to friends and family. They are worth the slightly higher price. And I do feel that the plants you get are worth every penny. You get what you pay for. It's all in the roots. The length and quality of the root structure is the best I've seen. Long, full, never root bound. I've also always been really pleased with how everything is shipped. Plants always arrive healthy. And with the amazing root systems they will thrive. I grew several from her at a rental I lived at. My only regret is not planting them sooner there as everything takes time to establish. I am now married and my husband and I own our property. Last year I planted 14 clematis and I was impressed with each and every one of them. I'm looking at ordering more this spring as I really like pairing them with my roses. In my emails back and forth Cindy is a delight to communicate with. She has great advice and can guide you to what varieties will be best in any situation if you are unsure.

This was my first time ordering from this company and I was very pleased with the 2 healthy clematis I received. They have very nice root systems and I hope they do well in my garden. I ordered from Hummingbird Farm for the first time this season (2024.) I chose 2 different varieties and they both arrived in such great condition. I was pleased with the size and quality of the vine since it had such a long way to travel to get to me. Both plants are healthy and thriving. It was also a great experience using their website. If you're like me, you can get overwhelmed with the classes of clematis (like class B) in regards to pruning them. I SO appreciated how Cindy explained what was actually necessary when picking and pruning a clematis on her site. It's also nice to have a seller who "get it" in regards to the cold climates of the northern states like I am (Eastern WA). I will definitely buy from Hummingbird Farm again.

This is my third season of ordering from Hummingbird farm. The plants are strong, healthy, and every single shipment has arrived undamaged because of the expert, careful packaging. Every plant has survived, and the ones in their third year-- even the more temperamental ones-- are budding and blooming like crazy. The website and newsletter are informative and full of practical, helpful information, and like everything else about this vendor--steeped in experience, wisdom and care.

Hummingbird Gardens sent beautiful clematises with huge healthy root systems. All clematis were sent and wrapped very carefully.

One of my clematis struggled and didn't make it through the winter (followed the planting guide exactly) and Hummingbird Farm sent a replacement quickly and without hassle. That's standing behind your product! Variety and selection is great; so is the information and helpful guides to be successful growing clematis.

Hummingbird Farms is just great, outstanding.
They have an excellent variety of offerings. The plants I ordered were delivered in A-1 condition and are thriving. The great care dedicated to shipping the plants was immediately evident and impressive.
Beyond that Cindy at HF provides outstanding, personal attention: I had to change my order from pickup to shipped due to a health issue and Cindy not only was flexible and patient but encouraging!

I first inquired with Cindi last fall about which clematis might be good for my particular conditions. She replied immediately with several tantalizing recommendations. She was very accommodating when I asked for a specific delivery week. The plants arrived on time, well packaged, and with a fantastic root system. Though top growth was smaller than you might see in a Big Box clematis that has been pumped full of chemical fertilizer, these plants have taken well to their new homes and I am confident they will bloom beautifully once settled in.
A few years ago I asked Cindi for help with ID-ing a clematis. Though I'd never ordered from her she was so friendly and helpful. Wonderful service from this company and I am already thinking about other places I might put a clematis!

I ordered 2 clematis last year from Hummingbird and they are thriving, so I ordered 4 more this year. Winters can be harsh here in Kennebunk, Maine so ordering plants that can do well is always a challenge. The Hummingbird plants came extremely well packed with plenty of soil and boxed so that they did not get damaged in transit. The plants were hardy and looked very healthy. I planted them right away and they are already doing well with no transplant shock - great plants from a great vendor. Thanks for being such a tremendous company caring about quality and customer experience.

Plants were very well packaged and received in excellent condition. Plants have been in the ground for almost 2 weeks and appear to be growing well. Their website has excellent clematis care, planting and pruning requirements.

Living in very rural South Dakota, my plant options are very limited so I often order from online garden companies. In fact, most of my 30 plus varieties of clematis have come to me via the mail. When I opened the package from Hummingbird Farm, I was so very impressed. Never before have I received clematis before with such a well developed root system. The planting instructions were clear and very helpful as well. I am confident that my new plants will grow well.

My plants arrived in great condition - healthy with good root systems. They were packaged very carefully and came with detailed instructions.

Excellent selection of clematis. The website is organized to show which varieties are easy and which ones are more challenging. C. texensis "Princess Diana" arrived with safe packaging and neatly-trimmed healthy growth. I used the recommended organic fertilizer when planting....One week later, it is already putting out new leaves.

First time purchasing from Hummingbird Farm. I've ordered 3 clematises: the Asao, Kimi'ideara, and the Sano-no-murasaki. They came in perfect condition because of how well the packaging was and on time from Maine to NYC. All three of the clematises have amazing root growth and were perfectly healthy looking. Hope to see it grow splendidly the following year and I plan to be a returning customer for Hummingbird Farm in the future.

Clematis came beautifully packaged. It wasn't sent as soon as I ordered it because of a heat wave. I appreciated that consideration. I had some questions and called Hummingbird Farm on a Sunday. I was surprised that Cindy was at work (or at least answering the work phone). She was so nice and friendly and extremely helpful.

A stellar experience from start to finish. The website is a wonder in itself, a veritable encyclopedia of Clematis that is something Hummingbird Farm can be justly proud of. Ordering couldn't be easier, and many plants were still in stock, which is pretty impressive for late May. My sole desired plant, the Chloe bush clematis had a mass of roots that would put a bittersweet to shame! It was sent in a sturdy box, and secured so that it could not move or fall out of the cardboard structure keeping it in place. I have never seen a clematis as healthy as this. It transferred to my garden with nary a leaf out of place. I'll be sure to use Hummingbird Farm for all my future clematis needs. A WONDERFUL COMPANY WHICH ABSOLUTELY DESERVES ITS HIGH RATING FROM DAVE'S GARDEN!!!

I've ordered multiple clematis from Hummingbird Farms. All have arrived promptly and have looked very healthy. I planted a few in containers which can be tricky in MN. A couple didn't make it and when I contacted Hummingbird replacements were quickly sent along with tips given to help survival in tricky growing conditions.

I recently moved from a planting zone 7-8 to zone 3-4. I'm so glad I found Hummingbird Farms to help me with the right clematis for my new garden! I chose two which arrived much quicker than I expected (yay!), and were very healthy. I immediately planted them and now, a week later, have nice new growth on the trailers. The company is also very responsive to emails and I appreciate their dedication to keeping their customers happy--i.e., provide beautiful plants and any support necessary. Well done. I ordered two HF Young to complete a fence full of the HF Young. I was more than happy with the quality of the plants. Ordering was easy.

My sister sent me 3 clematis (sweet summer love, fuchsia flash and Edda) for the loss of my sweet dog. I am not a natural gardener, but love to test my hand at it. OMG !! Talk about fabulous I just got my three Clematis from [HYPERLINK@www.hummingbirdfarm.net] in St. Turner Me owned by Cindy Tibbetts. She sends them out of their pot wrapped in paper and Humongous roots yall.they are 2 year old plant ready to plant right into your garden now!!

I live in zone 5 and have about 30 different clematis. The plants I have received from this company have been of fair size and very healthy. What I absolute love about Hummingbird Farms is the amount of quality information they give. Examples are: types of clematis/pruning/ what plants grow best in certain areas/ how long particular clematis bloom/ what plants do well in partial shade/sun and much more. This is my go to site for information on clematis and their clematis always grow nicely in my 5b zone.

Great communication. Plants arrived in wonderful condition, despite the postal service bashing the box up so much that the mailman recorded it as "damaged" upon arrival, just in case I needed to make a claim. The planting directions were excellent, and I think the clematis have an excellent chance of surviving, despite my so-so track record with clematis. Looking forward to next summer!
