They have some hard to find bulbs, like the golden rayed lily of Japan and your must-haves like stargazer and casablanca. The bulbs arrived in beautiful shape a week after I ordered them. It was so wonderful to get good quality bulbs at comparable prices in such a short time! I will definately order from them again! |

I would recommend this company to anyone wanting wildflower seeds, especially. The other stuff they sell is just an added plus. |

Compared to other seed merchants I dealt with, their seed prices are extremely low, and their seeds come up! Fast delivery and great bang for the buck! One of my favorite online companies! |

| Positive | lacrosse (7 reviews) | On Feb 12, 2005, lacrosse Holmen, WI wrote: I ordered a large amount of seeds last year and planted a wildflower garden. I was very impressed with the quality of the seeds and the prices were better than any local ones. The company gave some free seed packages too which I thought was nice. Beautiful flowers all summer long with no maintenance once they were planted. I bought the video that was very helpful in how to plant the garden. On July 6th, 2005, lacrosse added the following: I really like the lily plants I ordered from them about a month ago. They were kind of small when I got them, but are now about a foot tall and all are flowering and thriving. The colors are very bright and pretty - reds with yellow centers, peach colored, and many others that I don't see in this area. I'm very sastified. |
| Positive | smithroz (5 reviews) | On Apr 1, 2004, smithroz wrote: I have ordered both seed and bulbs through their website. My wildflowers were the talk of the neighborhood last summer. The spring bulbs I ordered last fall have all come up and are beautiful. Their customer service is also very prompt. When I had a question about one of the bulbs they responded within four hours. |
| Positive | BinnieBee (1 review) | On Sep 25, 2003, BinnieBee Ashland City, TN wrote: I am so excited! I found the American Meadows website via the ratings of the Garden Watchdog, and their unique mixture of seeds and reasonable prices inspired me to keep adding to my order! I just got the order in today and not ONLY were the packages of seeds I ordered much larger than I expected, I got several (like, about six?) extra packages at no cost. Plus, the shipping from ordering five packages was really about the cost of their actual First class postage and the packaging materials. (This probably would not even out with lesser orders, but I suggest if you go to the trouble of ordering seeds, order at least more than three in order to get the discounts.) |
| Positive | ceelias (4 reviews) | On Sep 11, 2003, ceelias wrote: Bought seed (several pounds) approximately 5 years ago. Our wildflower patch has returned wonderfully, each year, despite varying weather conditions (S.E. Connecticut). Very few visitors to our home don't comment on the wildflowers during their season (May - September). |

I can only say that the help provided by Rob, their horticulturalist, made my Christmas shopping a true joy. Just the right seeds were selected for friends from Florida to Washington and their delivery and service are unmatched in the seed business. |
| Positive | JaneSnellman (3 reviews) | On Oct 1, 2000, JaneSnellman wrote: I bought several years ago, planted at my parent's place. I was so very pleased. They had flowers coming up in that bed for years, and a changing group - the annuals gradually were taken over by the perennials. It was very nice. And one year, during a drought, my parents still had cosmos so tall they were at the bedroom window! |

People stop their cars all the time. Fantastic. |
| Negative | JanetNovak (3 reviews) | On Feb 1, 1999, JanetNovak wrote: About Vermont Wildflower Farm -- I was disturbed to see how many of their "wildflower" seeds are actually alien plants. Some of these are considered invasive weeds in wild areas, where they displace native wildflowers. Of the twelve annuals and perennials listed in my invasive plants book, this company sells five of them! (For reference, the book is "Invasive Plants: Weeds of the Global Garden", put out by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The five plants are cornflower, birdsfoot trefoil, crown vetch, foxglove, and dame's rocket.) It's not that I think people should never grow cornflower, etc, in their gardens. I just object to a company encouraging people to spread around invasive alien plants in large numbers. It suggests that this company either doesn't know much about wildflowers, or doesn't care. On Feb 1, 1999, American Meadows responded with: " On May 2, 2006 12:44 PM, American Meadows responded: Vermont Wildflower Farm is no longer owned by American Meadows. This is a very old posting, and I have searched high and low for this customer, but she must no longer use this email. I'd like her to know that our current website lists the native area of every seed we sell, and we now have All-Native Wildflower Mixtures for each region in North America. She needs to know that a species that may be considered invasive in one region, may not be a problem in another. Our site now has extensive original information on how plants are regulated in the US, which are invasive, endangered, etc. --Ray Allen, Owner, AmericanMeadows.com" |

However, I did buy seeds to plant here in NJ. Not having a "green thumb", I was a bit apprehensive as to whether anything would bloom, but lo and behold, everything is growing and blooming way beyond my expectations! |

| Positive | BettyMTowe (9 reviews) | On Feb 1, 1996, BettyMTowe wrote: I bought a substantial quantity of wildflower seeds last year, and despite the devstating drought that we had here in Rhode Island, they did remarkably well. What they do NOT tell you, however, in the catalogue, and that you find only in the fine print of their planting instructions, is that you will get a much better and more vivid display if you plant the seeds much more thickly than they tell you in either the catalogue or in the video. From personal experience, I know the fine print to be right. Moral of the story? Buy the seeds from VWF but plant them much more thickly than they suggest at the "entry level". |
