| Positive | robacameron (19 reviews) | On Mar 10, 2003, robacameron wrote: I think this year Totally Tomatoes has improved. When I got their catalog in January, inside they said they had spent the off-season making improvements. Their sister company, R.H. Shumway's, did too. So I decided to take their word for it this year. I ordered about a dozen packets of seed. They came in the mail about one week later, with good instructions and free packets of tomato and pepper seeds. I planted the seeds just 3 days ago, and already some seeds have sprouted. They have an outstanding selection of tomato seed, and not to mention tons of peppers too! They also carry tomato growing supplies. I can't wait to order again next year! |
| Positive | HugeTV (1 review) | On Mar 4, 2003, HugeTV Belleville, IL wrote: I used the company over 3 years ago and with great success. I then moved to England for 3 years. Upon arriving back in the US, I ordered from them again. They have had my order for over a month, cashed my check, and I have not yet received my seeds. Also, no one answers their phone line when I call to enquire about the seeds. About 4 weeks after ordering from them, I ordered some seeds from Henry Fields. I have already received some of the Henry Fields seeds. I do not plan on ordering from Totally Tomatoes again. On January 2nd, 2005, HugeTV changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: I recently ordered seeds from Totally Tomatoes. They arrived very quickly. I am very happy with their timeliness and quality appears superior. |
| Negative | tulameenqueen (1 review) | On Mar 3, 2003, tulameenqueen wrote: This is the second year I've ordered. Because they sent my seeds so late last year I ordered early (January 10th) this year. Received my seeds SEVEN WEEKS LATER after pestering them with three emails (the phoneline is useless.) I've been very disappointed with this company. |
| Negative | ShadyGrove (2 reviews) | On Feb 28, 2003, ShadyGrove wrote: I ordered tomato seeds in late January. They cashed my check, but I still have not received the seeds on February 28th. I have tried calling for three days straight and all I get is a recording "all representatives are busy". Same result at HPS (one of their sister companies). I would exercise extreme caution dealing with this family of companies. |
| Positive | CountryDaddy (7 reviews) | On Feb 19, 2003, CountryDaddy Wilmington, IL wrote: I enjoy experimenting with different varieties of tomatoes every year. Along with my stand-by favorites (Sweet Million, Celebrity and recently, Juliet and Jolly), I usually try six to eight which I've never grown before. Totally Tomatoes has the largest selection of tomatoes and peppers I have found anywhere. If somebody has more, please let me know. I've been ordering from them for a few years now and I don't have a single complaint. |

| Positive | RichHurley (4 reviews) | On Jan 26, 2003, RichHurley Hanover, PA (Zone 6b) wrote: I purchased both tomato and pepper seeds from Totaly Tomatoes in 2001 and had very good success with all of them. I had more than enough plants for myself and all my neighbors. Last year I didn't start seeds of any kind due to family illness so I had to purchase my plants locally. This year I've placed another order and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I especially enjoy being able to order *exactly* the varieties I want instead of what the local nursery is pushing. |
| Positive | mrainey (2 reviews) | On Jun 23, 2002, mrainey wrote: I have ordered from them twice. Both times, the service was very slow. The seeds seemed to be fine, with good germination on 90% of the varieties. I discovered the Siberia tomato here, which has been great for super-early, tasty small tomatoes. Eva Purple Ball is the best tomato I've ever tasted. They have so many obsucre varieties, you can have a lot of fun for twenty bucks. On March 23rd, 2003, mrainey added the following: Ordered again this year and the service was, as before, very slow. But, all the seeds got here in plenty of time for planting, so no harm done. It's just one of those thhing you have to plan ahead for when you order from this company. The seeds have always germinated just fine for me. |
| Neutral | MICDEAN (1 review) | On May 28, 2002, MICDEAN wrote: My company is listed as well among others here and supplies hard to find Heirloom bedding plants as well as seeds and supplies. We at times must order from other companies and competitors for certain varieties we cannot find elsewhere. |
| Positive | jallaway (1 review) | On May 26, 2002, jallaway Houston, TX (Zone 8b) wrote: The biggest variety of maters I have ever seen. My order was shipped at the later date I requested, although an attempt to confirm by email didn't get a response. I got great germination from all seeds except for a single packet of Carnival seeds. I would use them again. |

I stopped ordering from them when I discovered Pinetree, though: who really needs 50 tomato seeds? No problems with this company, though. |

Sent my order by Express Mail so that they would get it the next day, or at the latest the day after. That was 2/26/2002. The Post Master here in tracking my order tells me it was delivered their post office box and they were notified it was there on 2/28/2002. They were notified again on 3/1/2002. It was 3/7/2002 before they picked up their mail, and thus received my order!!!! I had also sent $5.00 extra for them to send my order back by Priority Mail. So far, to this date, I have not received my order. Today is 3/10/2002. I am hoping I will receive it tomorrow 3/11/2002. It did me absolutely no good to send it by Express Mail. And so far no good to send the extra $5.00. I am not impressed with the way this company has handled my order. |

I have dealt with them a couple of times and both times, there was a delay in shipping of my order. The prices are reasonable, but I have heard reports of poor quality seed from them. I have had success with all of their seed that I bought, but there are quite a few reports that I've read to beware of them. I have since quit ordering from them. |
| Positive | RAYDARLING9 (1 review) | On Jul 1, 2001, RAYDARLING9 wrote: Now for some good news!! I purchased Tomato, Pepper and Cucumber seeds from Totally Tomatoes, a lot of fly on the peppers, but that's not their fault. My Birgit cucumber plants, raised from seed, have been absolutely prolific. I am currently experimenting with one particular fruit, I estimate that at the moment it weighs approx 4 lbs, still green as grass and still growing. Can't wait to weigh the finished result. Highly Recommended! |

This year, I placed my order over 3 weeks ago and haven't received anything. Still worse, I have tried to call several times and all I get is a busy signal. I sent e-mail and got no reply. Are these people still in business? |
| Negative | HerbGypsie (2 reviews) | On Jul 1, 2000, HerbGypsie Saint Ann, MO wrote: I had an incredibly awful experience with Totally Tomatoes this year. Thank goodness Jung Seed has purchased them! I have been a longtime customer but this year, I received TWO defective batch of seeds: Sweet Million and Super Cayenne III. They were to send replacements in late February, and I didn't receive them until mid April. I called three times for the status of the order during the wait, and the "supervisor" was so rude. |

| Positive | PSMOORE (1 review) | On Apr 1, 1999, PSMOORE wrote: Because of the good results I got from an order to Totally Tomatoes for hot pepper seeds last year, I ordered more this year. The leaves of the pepper bush that lived during the winter and sprouted again this year are showing distortion and after flowering, the young peppers buds are dropping off. Over two weeks ago I wrote Totally Tomatoes and enclosed some of the distorted leaves, asking them to let me know what is causing the condition. To-date I have not heard from them. |
| Positive | CyndiNorman (2 reviews) | On Aug 1, 1998, CyndiNorman wrote: ordered from RH Shumway and Totally Tomatoes this year. I called one of the numbers and they took both orders. They had to place each order separately in the computer (2 shipping fees) with separate credit card authorizations. They are in the same building and the first company rep just walked the second order over.I ordered seeds only and they came within days. One order took a bit longer than the other and when I called they were able to look it up and tell me exactly when it had been shipped. Customer service was very nice and even phoned me when they ran into a snag with my credit card. Since it was a debit card I had a daily limit, which I had hit making another purchase. They were able to follow my request to just wait one day and try again. No hassles. The seeds came in padded mailing envelopes. The packages were well marked with generic planting instructions (i.e., for "tomatoes" or "annual flowers" but not for the specific item unless it varied from the norm). Since it hasn't been that long, I can't say how good the germination rates are but some of them look good so far. At least one of my packages was slightly shortchanged, but otherwise they appear to be at the exact count.Prices run around $1.20 to 2.00 for a package of 30 or 100 seeds (not sure why they do those numbers). Shipping and handling is under $2.00. You can order by mail, phone, or fax and there is no charge to use a credit card. Plant descriptions are decent (although there is no information about West Coast growing) and most things are illustrated with either a color photo or a B&W drawing. |
| Positive | JLRay (11 reviews) | On Jul 1, 1998, JLRay wrote: Totally Tomatoes: Another small catalogue. Very few pictures, but why would you need lots of pictures of tomatoes and peppers? Huge selection of tomatoes, sorted out by type and color. Very nice descriptions, usually tells you how many seeds are in the package. Ditto the peppers. Great source of weird peppers and oddball relatives like "Pasilla Bajio", a close relative of peppers or "garden huckleberry", a close relative to tomatoes. |
