Comments regarding Marietta Gardens

I have been ordering from marietta gardens one or two times a year for 5 years. Each time I visit the farm my appitite for hybrids from John, Faye and Elizabeth's efforts grows. I leave my order, and in the fall I am shipped large, healthy, well packed plants. In the winter when I am surfing the web I always check the marietta gardens site for new eye candy. On the rare occurence of a missing plant in my shipment, John called to tell me they had found it in the packing area and it would arrive a day late. The bonus plants are well selected based on the variety of my order and of higher value than the norm. In response to my questions John and Faye are always helpful and informative. Marietta Gardens has the hard to find Daylilies and for a reasonable price. I dealt with John who was the nicest person I have every done business with at a nursery. Very helpful, sincere and honest.

This would have been a glowing positive review had I not received a mislabelled plant, as all of the plants arrived healthy and thrived. And, of course, I understand that mistakes do happen. It was the lack of any response whatsoever to repeated emails - those emails asking what the plant might be, so I could correctly label it, NOT asking for a replacement - that has made me decide not to order from Marietta gardens again. There are numerous other growers who are selling cultivars that I want to buy and will respond to questions and resolve issues.

I just received some daylilies from Marietta Gardens. They are multiple fans of each, in some cases four or more. All are healthy and beautiful.

We had some confusion with my order, so I emailed them and they responded immediately, corrected the problem within a day and sent me two bonus daylilies (at least double fans of each), both of which are considerably more costly than the varieties that I ordered. The bonuses appear to have been carefully selected along the lines of the others.

And, to top it off, I received very courteous emails throughout! Highly recommend.

I ordered several daylilies from this company in the fall of 2003. The time between ordering and receiving was quicker than I anticipated, and all the daylilies were big double or triple fans with very healthy roots. They have all bloomed this year true to name. I would defenitely order from this company in the future.

i ordered from them several months ago and had my order shipped on 5-24-04 and received them on 5-28-04. i received huge healthy fans(3 & 4 fans of each plant). they sent helen shooter and tears of love as a bonus. i would recommend them highly, i will order from them again.

I have odered from them several times and have always received excellent plants! John even took the time (and expense) to call me to tell me that he didn't have one of the plants I had ordered over the internet. The bonuses are always excellent!

Two big thumbs up! Great communication by email, even called to remind me that payment hadn't been received and my requested ship date was coming up. Extremely healthy, expansive root systems, and often double and even triple fans! 3 days in transit and the newspapers were still damp. Excellent company. Will buy from them again. The only thing I'd recommend is a way to pay by credit card online.

I have ordered from Marietta gardens 3 of the last 4 years, the plants sent are large double fans. The bonus plants were some of there higher priced own hybrids, and when these plants bloomed they were far better than most of the plants I bought. I had one problem with one plant that didn't bloom as advertized, and Mr Shooter replaced it with a more expensive plant that was also far better than the one I bought. Their plant list is very extensive, and they are an easy Nursery to deal with. I see nothing but quality here by my own experience.

Ordered for the first time with Marietta Gardens in fall of 2003. Awesome plants! Fans were good sized and looked nice and healthy. I was very pleased and will definitely order again.

I couldn't have been happier with the plants and the service I received from Marietta Gardens. Prompt response to my queries and e-mails. Huge fans shipped, not to mention very generous clumps received when I had only ordered 2 fans - an unexpected and fabulous bonus! The gift plants were awesome and intuitive... these folks really consider carefully what they send. I'll certainly buy from them again next year.

I ordered a daylily from them and when it arrived it was a pale colorless small double fan with lots of black on the foliage. The bonus plant they sent was very large and healthy looking. I emailed them to tell them how disappointed I was with the condition of my plant and that I hoped it would live. The following day Mr. Shooter telephoned me and was extremely nasty and rude. He explained his anger was was because of the very large expensive cultivar he sent as my bonus plant. He finally stopped his diatribe and told me he wasn't angry with me. I asked him why he had called and he asked me if I wanted to be taken off their mailing list. I told him goodbye and hung up the phone. I do not like rude angry aggressive telephone calls from places I have given my money to. I felt like if he was going to take the time to call me he should have called me BEFORE he sent me such a sad plant. As far as his bonus was concerned...I didn't order the bonus. I ordered the other plant for a gift...that I can't give now. Boo!

I have received wonderful plants from this garden. They are very generous in size and the bonus plants are wonderful. They sent me one of their $50 introductions as a bonus plant. I was very impressed and needless to say, very happy. I highly recommend them.

This was my first time ordering from Marietta Gardens... I was extremely pleased with the service. My order was shipped out yesterday and it arrived today :)

All of my plants were huge double fans or larger... beautiful and healthy!

I just received my first order from Marietta gardens, and I am very pleased. The daylilies where large with good root systems and the bonus plants were fabulous! There is no way to order over the internet without sending an e-mail, but they e-mail back with a confirmation and when a mistake was made it was corrected the same day.

I will be ordering from them again.

I was pleased enough with my order in 2002 that I already have prepared my 2003 order. Although they are not the 'tops' on my list, they will remain 'on my list' of recommended places to buy daylilies.

My spring order this year (2002) was the first from Marietta, and I was very happy with everything about the experience. The order went smoothly and was acknowledged promptly, the (generous/healthy) plants arrived exactly when they said they would, every plant ordered was in stock and shipped, and the bonus was exceptional! I will definately order from Marietta again.

Good prices, great daylilies, & some of the nicest people you will ever deal with. They have the personal touch, which you don't see too much in today's world. A very satisfied customer.

These people win first prize in my book. Shipped me GORGEOUS daylilies in the Spring. Reasonable prices. Had a problem with a mis-identified daylily that was cleared up with no questions asked. Friendly and responsive.
