just recieved 2 baja calliandra california, nice size green, look healthy, this is my second time ordering , great customer service,very quick to answer a queston on email,fast delivery, luv to order rare hard to find plants, and pretty good prices will recommend to anyone

This was my first order with Almost Eden. Within 24 hours of ordering, I was informed when the meyer lemon I ordered would ship and then received another e-mail when it did ship. The tree was well packed, extremely healthy and exceeded all my expectations. I will definitely be ordering from this company again.

This is my 2nd order with almostedenplants. Both times my plants arrived in very good condition. They are verf responsive to my order and emails. Their packaging is excellent comparing to my orders with other online nurseries. Only one jasmine looks droopy that I have notified them on the required care to take care of it. Will order again from them.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit their booth at a local garden show as was impressed by the quality and pricing of all of the plants they had displayed.Purchased a Crown of Thorns plant and when i got home i realized i should have gotten more different plants(according to my wife). I then ordered a Crybaby tree and am impressed with quality and size.of the tree.Tree is in excellent shape and very healthy..Superfast shipping and wonderful packing to protect the plant. I will definitely be doing more business with them and look forward to their open house next year.

I recently tried Almost Eden and could not have been happier, the plants I ordered were in outstanding condition. My shipment was delayed because of the weather here and while I was anxious to receive them I listened to them and waited. When they arrived, I opened the box which was extremely well packaged and the plants just opened up and almost said " I'm home". I was totally amazed at the size of the plants and the absolute perfect condition they arrived in. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I have been ordering mail order plants for more years then I care to remember and have never been happier with not only the plants themselves but the outstanding staff and customer service personnel at Almost Eden. Needless to say I have already ordered a second shipment and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. Almost Eden far exceeded any expectations I could have had. Asked several questions by e-mail and received prompt, helpful answers each time. When order was placed it arrived in two days with excellent packaging and the plants were in perfect shape. Very healthy robust plants. Will definitely be ordering again in the future.

What a wonderful experience, from start to finish! My order arrived to my doorstep in less than a week (5 days from being placed, but that included the weekend too!), perfectly packed! The plants are definitely beautiful, healthy, bigger than I expected for the price paid (so very reasonably priced). Great and fun communication along the way. I felt treated like a long-time big customer, even though I was a new customer and my order was less than $50 (postage included, also very reasonable priced).

I ordered some plants from Almost Eden yesterday, and I realized I've never given them the good recommendation they deserve on Dave's Garden. I've been ordering from them for a number of years, and they're one of my favorite nurseries.
I've always received my plants promptly, in excellent condition, they're reasonably priced, and I especially like that they carry semi-tropical plants I can't get locally or from any of the other mail-order nurseries I order from. They're the "fun" plants I plant in the raised beds of my garden or those inside the picket fence around the house. Being a butterfly and hummingbird nut, I also love that I can get so many plants from Almost Eden that provide rich nectar for hummers and butterflies. I also like that they carry many fragrant plants. I ordered a sweet almond verbena last year, because I had read the flowers smelled wondeful, and I wanted to try it for myself - the flowers did indeed smell wonderful, and the plant, which grew to about ?7' tall in one year, is making new growth all over. I don't know of any other mail-order nursery that carries sweet almond verbena, and the locals certainly don't carry it.

Wonderful customer service. I unfortunately lost my job and they were kind enough to cancel my order and refund my money. A great business, I have bought from them in the past, I will purchase from them again, hopefully soon.

I bought 7 plants from Almost Eden. Most of them were citrus trees. They where shipped in good condition and where very large with fruit on them! The prices are great and the shipping costs where honest. My emails were answered within 1 hour. If you are sick and tired of the conventional large mailorder nurserys that are cheating people, I recommend you to try Almost Eden. With service like I was given, I bet they will be around for some time. I will definitely buy from them again.

I just received a honeysuckle plant that I'd ordered from this company and was surprised at the size (12 inches) and healthy condition of the plant. It was packed perfectly with no damage to the stems.

From A to Z this has been an incredibly positive experience. Started out with various emails - always quickly answered - patiently (I ask a lot of questions) and thoroughly. Order placed late on a Sunday....received on TH!!! Simple (read NO mess) yet appropriate packing kept everything in perfect shape i.e. no breakage - no soil loss. Plants arrived IN pots (read: less stress to plant) looking healthy and green. Icing on the cake? Shipping was a mere .60 cents above actual cost - I'm certain packing costs more then that! How refreshing to deal with a vendor charging actual shipping fees. They most certainly will have a repeat customer with me!!! Do not hesitate to order from these kind folks!!!

Very positive. I ordered a Meyer lemon and a dwarf pomegranate tree.

They arrived in a timely fashion and with great packaging. The Meyer lemon especially had healthy, lush foliage.

I had a question about the dwarf pomegranate dropping leaves. John McMillan replied to my email within hours. Silly me, I'd forgotten it's fall! I scratched to make sure the plant was green and healthy, and it is.

Mr. McMillan assured me I can contact the company with any other questions or concerns about my plants; as a novice gardener, I really appreciate that.

Very positive. Highly recommended. Ordered 12 fig plants [8 different varieties]. Plants tend to be very consistent and healthy [except for fig rust, which has never harmed fruit harvest from any plants that Almost Eden has grown]. Customer service [John McMillan] is outstanding, to say the least. Their fig trees are small in diameter in comparison to several other sellers we have dealt with - their prices are the very lowest we have seen, especially when you compare their prices for the fig trees combined with their shipping costs. I have ordered several times from this company. The first time, I ordered several almond verbena plants. Through no fault of Almost Eden, the little guys were quite stressed by the time I received them. I hadn't anticipated such speedy delivery and was out of town when they arrived at my doorstep! I called and spoke with John to see what he would recommend to revive the plants. He asked that I follow his suggestions and then call back if the plants didn't rebound. I was quite impressed with his concern and attention to customer service. Unfortunately, the plants didn't rebound, but I didn't ask for a refund due to the delay between delivery and my opening the package... something that was out of Almost Eden's control.

My second order from Almost Eden has gone perfectly. The water celery plants arrived extremely fast, were exactly the size I anticipated, and have been thriving by the water pond. I wrote a thank you to John and mentioned I would like to purchase some of his wife's mouth-watering fig preserves... and he responded with a phone call expressing gratitude for my order and help in ordering the preserves. WOW! It's so rare these days to get such personal service from a vendor. Needless to say, the preserves have been ordered and should be here very soon!

I would not hesitate to recommend Almost Eden to anyone who is looking for unusual or hard-to-find plants that are of very reasonable mail-order size and excellent quality. It would be very difficult indeed to find a more personally accessible and knowledgeable vendor! A+++

I recently decided to extend my indoor plant collection with more succulents. I ordered 3 different kinds of cactus from Almost Eden (due to the number of "positive" ratings here), and received them yesterday. Wow! Beautiful, healthy specimens that were packaged very securely. I will be ordering from them again in the future with no hesitation.

I have ordered twice from Almost Eden and both times have been very, very pleased with their service, incredible packaging and the size and quality of the plants received. Everything I ordered went into the ground and started growing immediately.

I tried to order from TyTy garden center and the service was poor. So I cancelled order. Someone i work with suggested Daves Garden, where I found and ordered from Almost Eden on Friday and product was delivered 5 days later on Wednesday. Thank you very much!

I ordered 5 plants from Amost Eden and received perfect plants. They were well packaged, very large plants and soil condition was great. I would recommend this company to anyone. One of them has a bloom on it and it is opening beautifullly. I will order again from them and appreciate their timely response. Elaine

I've ordered from this company trusting the Watchdog rating, and I couldn't be happier to find the mom & pop store. I've ordered a bunch of plants from at least 6 nurseries (all listed watchdog top 30) within the last month, and Almost Eden had by far the best plant packaging method of all. Although their plants are larger for given price, I would be surprised if any plant gets physically damaged during shipping. On top of that, the plants were at least twice as big than some of the more well-known, more pricey nurseries out there. They're clear on their shipping schedule (seem to ship mostly on Mondays), and they seem to strive to satisfy customers. If Almost Eden carries what you're looking for, definitely get it from them. After receiving two separate orders from them within a week to much satisfaction, I've decided to send a birthday gift (fragrant flowers) to my mother-in-law. I'm sure she'd be excited to receive such rare plants, and I know I'll be reordering from this company many times in the future.

Ordered succulent and cactus plants. All emails were promptly answered, and answered my questions. My plants arrived two days after they notified me they were sent. All seven plants were very healthy, bigger than expected, well packaged so there was no damage and in a pot with a healthy root system. I am in the process now of ordering more plants. Since I am looking for the odd plants, I have done a lot of internet surfing and have ordered plants from many places. Of all the places I shopped at, ordered from, and researched, Almost Eden beat them all hands down. I told Jeff at Almost Eden it was like Christmas opening each plant and seeing how great it looked and enjoying the whole process. Two of the plants are flowering, which was a very enjoyable surprise. Whatever you are looking for and where ever you live. I've been wanting a patchouli plant for YEARS now, I finally talked myself into ordering one. I'm hippie-nouveau, the spawn of real hippies with a generous dash of techie. Being techie, I'm used to ordering sensitive materials.

I left specific instructions in case I wasn't home/didn't hear the door for delivery. I work nights and wanted to make sure the delivery made it to my doorstep. Let me add I'm an extremely light sleeper. As in the neighbor's cat can sneeze and I'll hear it.

The poor plant...

It was delivered straight to the complex office. Even though my address was clearly on the box. That one was the fault of the USPS. However, the note stating that it should be delivered to the balcony by my door was INSIDE the box, where it was clearly not doing any good.

Let me state I live in Alaska, and this company is in Louisiana, so the little plant went from LA to AK and then sat in a box from Friday to Monday unnecessarily.

It is, of course, very wilted and abused looking. I'm curious as to how it looked before it spent the weekend inside a hot cardboard box (AK businesses don't seem to believe in A/C,) as it is very, very root-bound.

I think half of what bothered me is the response I got when I emailed the company about my concern. It was sorta just "oh well."

It would take a great deal of coaxing before I'd order from this company again, as there are too many other companies from which to order. :/

Monday, June 9th...Yes, I missed putting note on box about the balcony. I apologized for that But, after our conversation by phone, I did put a note on the box ,to the post office, to call her, as they are closed on Saturdays. They are quite tough, generally, and I felt like it would likely recover, ergo 'ho-hum'...but we will either send another, or refund her invoice, I just think this complaint was hurried and unfair, and she expected it to be perfect after a weekend w/o A/c in AK !!
I hope others will be more understanding, and not so hasty to negate a good try to please a customer. John McMillian

Now I wish I had just said 'Just give it a couple of days, I have seen plants wilted from stress and still recover', but you had called me, we talked about your PO being closed on Saturdays, and I agreed to put your # on box so PO would call you, remember? How would I have known that if you had not called? I'm sorry I got angry, I just thought you would know to see if it lived, or died, then we would make adjustment accordingly. I was really astonished that you shot a negative message to Dave's the same day you got the plant, with no more messages than the one.!! I will not be in business long if I do not stand behind the product, but 30+ years in nursery retail have shown me that the customer is not always right, either. I apologize again for missing note about the balcony, I hope the plant lives, but I still want to refund your money. John"

I could not be happier with the quality of the two Satin Blue Althea rose of Sharon bushes that I received from Almost Eden. I ordered the plants in early June. They arrived three days later (Louisiana to Ohio) and were blooming two days after that. Absolutely gorgeous plants.

I've been ordering plants through the mail for going on 15 years now. Almost Eden far surpassed any company I've dealt with during this period in their attention to detail when it came to packaging my order. They took such great care that there were no bruised leaves, no broken stems, and there wasn't even any loose dirt in the box.

Consider ordering from this company. This kind of customer service deserves to be rewarded with your business.

I've ordered from Almost Eden many times. I've always had a good experience. Their plants consistently arrive exactly when I request and in perfect shape. The plants are large and healthy. The prices are reasonable.

I ordered a chaste tree and a chinese hat plant from them mid April. They arrived within two weeks. Specimens were about a foot high, lots of green leaves and very safely packed. Both were put in the ground and have grown a wee bit already!
I am very pleased with the company, they know how to treat their plants.

After a great deal of frustration and put-offs at the local Pike's Nursery, I went to the net to try to find a Confederate Rose. (Hibiscus mutabilis 'Rubrus') I found Almost Eden Plants (almostedenplants.com) as one of only two vendors that sold this incredible plant. I placed an order on April 28th and was contacted that night by e-mail setting up the shipping arrangements. The plants shipped on May 5th and arrived on May 7th by express mail. The plants are beautiful and I honesly don't think I could have found a better selection in-person locally. The entire customer experience was excellent from order to delivery. The prices are great, the service is personable, and the communication immediate. John McMillian has gone out of his way to make mail order more attractive than going local.

I ordered a "Wonderful" Pomegranate and a "LSU Gold" Fig (I already have the LSU purple ). They came today in excellent condition and I ran out and planted the pomegranate. Tomorrow, I will ponder where to plant the fig as our soil is acid.

I would recommend this nursery to anyone and will buy from them again.

It has been several years since I ordered from Almost Eden, but I was happy with my plants, and this year I ordered about 12 plants. The plants that came were large, well-rooted, and very healthy - some of the best I've ever gotten. And the packing was the BEST I've ever seen. I'm very impressed. Now it is 2 weeks later and the plants are doing fantastic.

I messed up my payment for the order and the owner contacted me promptly and was very helpful.

I feel sure the couple of negative comments I see here were unfounded or exceptions that the owner would have made right if the customers had contacted him.

Interesting selection, healthy plants, good prices, great packing, and a conscientious owner who obviously cares about his plants and customers. This is a great company.

I found plants at this website that I haven't been able to find locally, and the prices are very reasonable. My order came in a timely manner, and I was very surprised at the size of the plants as they were potted in 4" pots. I was concerned about them, though, as they all were very rootbound. I watered immediately after delivery and repotted the next day in good potting soil. To my surprise when I checked on them this morning all plants looked as if they had been growing for months in their new pots. Hopefully, they will continue to grow and be healthy.

I just ordered 3 Oleander as a screen against new neighbor's McMansion. I had multiple email conversations with the owner about whether they would survive the winters here in Ware Neck, Va. They arrived in perfect condition and I have committed to letting him know if they are successful. He even gave me instructions on taking cuttings, so if they don't, I'll have some for next year.

I bought 2 Evergreen Wisteria plants from Almost Eden and even here in Tennessee, mine is thriving. The one I sent as a gift to my daughter on the Gulf Coast to replace plants she lost to Katrina is even more beautiful. Thanks to Almost Eden for great stock. I will be buying more. Shipping was prompt and plants arrived in great shape.

I made an order by check, and emailed back and forth with John 4 times about it. Their website, like a lot of other mail-order places- is not really set up for easy snail-mail ordering for folks who don't use creditcards on the net. They even had an old mailing address on their site, which he was glad to find out about, lol. Very nice guy, receptive to suggestions, and quite helpful.

My check took 3 days to get there, and the order arrived less than a week later via priority mail, in perfect condition.

I'll order again before Spring arrives.

I just received my first order from Almost Eden. I emailed a question on shipping monday, and got a response in 2 hrs. I ordered late monday, and received the plants in FL on Thursday. All (2 red cestrums, a holmskioldia, and a firecracker fern) are good healthy plants, and they were very well wrapped. There were emails confirming the order, then the shipment. A very satisfactory experience, and I'm sure I'll be buying there again.
