Comments regarding Uncle Jim's Worm Farm

I ordered 2,000 red wigglers with free shipping on a Wednesday. The order was easy to place, and I received confirmation for my order in a timely manner. The following Monday I still hadn't received the shipment or shipping confirmation so emailed the company. They were quick to reply, letting me know that the orders always ship on Mondays and my order would arrive soon. On Wednesday the worms arrived!

I followed the directions in the package to give the worms a "drink," then a few minutes later placed them in the bin. They all seem to be alive and doing well!

I will order from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm again. After searching online, I found them to be very reasonably priced and I was impressed with their service. Yay worms!

Back in May I ordered 2000 red wigglers from you and just wanted to send you a update on how its going, it is just over 3 months since they came in and I am very impressed with the worms not only are they thriving but now I have the problem of too many worms...lol I almost ordered another 5000 from you in june just to speed up what I am working towards here but decided to wait to see what the results were by the end of june I checked my first bin ( this is my very first attempt at doing this also) I had well over 500 eggs that I ended up placing into a second bin ( both bins being the 22 gallon plastic totes) in no time it looked as if I needed a third bin due to how crowded the first one was getting with the worms so I bought 2 30 gallon totes and now with the new totes and the old ones they are full of red worms and eggs and I am actually looking at building 5 foot beds that can be stacked to try and house them all, if I am to guess right now I have ten times the amount of worms that I started out with just over 3 months ago and still have a ton of eggs. I can grab a hand full of the compost mix and will have about 50 worms and maybe 6 egg cases in my hand. What I have learned from doing this and from the research I have done online they say to avoid anerobic soil conditions in the bins, but my largest worms and most of my egg case come from those layers. I have shredded about 30 pounds of cardboard and newspaper and used so far in the bins and they have converted that along with the plant matter over to almost perfect compost soil. Anyway sorry this is so long but I wanted to let you know how things were going and to say thanks and great work on your part for the job your doing..............

I have been also ordering red worms from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm for years. They are doing a great service for me and my gardening club! Alot of worm farms come and go but Uncle Jim's has been around since the 1960's so thats saying something.

I've been ordering from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm for over 15 years. Only had a problem with dead worms once. Shipping live products (in the hot months) does have it risks but they sent me more worms free of charge ASAP when the worm did arrive perished due to heat once. Jeff the office manager was as nice as could be.

I ordered worms from this company a few years ago, and they arrived as a pile of mush. I couldn't tell if they were alive or not. My composting experiment never worked out, so clearly they were not alive. Recently, I decided to give the worms another try and ordered some more. When they arrived, the smell was terrible and the worms were clearly not alive. I e-mailed the company twice with no response. Finally, I called them and they said they would issue me a refund. Of course, I have not received that refund, and it's been a month. Bad business, rude people. Choose another source for your worms.

Worms arrived quickly and in good shape. I like that they were shipped in a light soil, not coir. Appears to me that these traveled better than worms I bought from another source. These were shipped from PA to NH. I recommend that you order worms when you expect weather to be moderate, to promote survival of the worms.

Can I say Fast! This is the second time I ordered worms from Uncle Jim. They made me a value cusotomer with there speedyness and great customer service. You ask how fast, I placed my order on April 10 Saturday and I recieved them April 14 Wednesday. So order from Uncle Jim.

I ordered 2000 red wiggler worms on April 13th, got confirmation right away, and they arrived today, April 16th. The worms were in good condition, and after a little drink like the instructions said, they were wriggling around together happily. I am quite satisfied with the product and the service.

Right now I am rating Uncle Jims as neutral, I placed my order for 2000 red wrigglers on march 31, 2010. Never received a email stating they were on the way. I did send 2 emails asking about my order status without an answer. I live in Pa the worms should have been here by today at the latest(Wednesday) if mailed on Monday as per his shipping details.
I finally called and after numerous busy signals did get thru. I spoke to Jeff who could not find a mailing label and then advised me my worms were not sent! I ordered my worms to be delivered this week as I was off from work and the worms would not need to sit on my front porch for 12 hours or more.
Jeff send they would send them today and hopefully be at my home tomorrow. I hope so. Guess we will see, I am glad I used paypal.

In march I ordered 2000 red wigglers worms from uncle jims . we ordered on a wed. the next day I got a conformation of the order from uncle jims.on the next monday i recieved a shipping notice from the post office and recieved the shipment on thursday . I see no problems with the worms and they are fattening up every day.I just ordered his 500 large mealworms the same way on sunday.they should be in hand tomorrow. thanks uncle jim for the great service

I have ordered 2000 worms and only received 1000. Emailed and got a reply back that there was a mistake and they send me another 1000....things seemed ok. Ordered again ...2000 worms a few weeks later and ONLY GOT 1000 for the second timed. Sent 3 emails and eventually got another package in the mail that have less than 600 half dead worms.
100% of worms I received died within 3 days!!!! (I have over 20,000 worms in hand and all of mine are perfectly fine, so the problem is not about how I take care of them; it is the quality of worms being sent)
No response is being given by this company so far. I will ask for a full refund. Highly disappointed...

I have ordered worms from Uncle Jim's several times the first time it was very hot here in So Cal and the worms did not survive the trip. Uncle Jims quickly replaced the shippment. :-) I have reordered from them to add to my soil worm population every time I turn soil in my garden I find fat worms working away. I am currently waiting for more super Reds for a new bed and a "can-o-worms" with red wrigglers to eat up my kitchen scraps to produce tea and castings.

I ordered $174.00 in product from this company over 30 days ago. I never received it and let paypal know. The claim is now escalated with paypal and they are dealing with them. I have sent 5 emails to company and they had said they would refund my money from paypal, paypal says that company has not responded to them on this claim. I do not believe I will see my product or my money from this company until I send this on the BBB and consumer affairs which I am doing tomorrow morning. And I will write on every post about this company that I can find.

I ordered 2000 worms. Received only 1000 worms, bad quality. Have had no response from my emails. Took $40 of my hard earned money.My advice be very careful and check around a lot before buying. I have to wait now until the worms that I have double before I can start my second box. "Uncle Jim" is no uncle BEWARE!

I ordered the 2000 redworms on Dec 2nd,2009 and received a solid frozen lump due to the weather being so cold and the fact that the mail trucks rear compartments are not heated.
The immediate replacement worms were not received, and I was informed that due to the still subzero temperatures they may have been disposed of by the postal department, if the package had gotten soggy.
Uncle Jim's immediatly refunded all my money without hesitation, back in my account by December 29th.
If my Scouts do a recycling project again next year I will definitely give my business to Uncle Jim's.

I ordered my red wigglers during the period when PA. was getting hit with snowstorm after snowstorm, some I understand were record snow amounts. Jim's personnel
took extra care, so my order and needs were met.They
emailed me and made a personal phone call to make sure
all was well. I've been in the horticultural field for 25yrs and
I will pass an A-1 grade regarding Jim's Worm Farm along to any of my contacts interested in attempting vermicomposting or related activities!! His website serves
as an awesome resource and he follows it up with a great

this company is a ripoff. I have tried to contact them. I sent them E-mails many times over the last month. They do not respond. They charged me for items I did not order and then never received them.

I ordered my worms and "The Worm Factory" on Sunday, February 7th. My worms were shipped on Monday the 8th. I live in Salt Lake City Utah and had my worms delivered on Wednesday the 10th (My birthday! Woo hoo!).

The only neutral comment I have is that my Worm Factory won't get here until Friday. So, I've had to put my little wigglers up in a temporary apartment until their condo arrives. The enclosed instructions didn't tell me what the best way to handle that was. I actually had to go online and get that information somewhere else.

I did call in to Jim's to find out when my Worm Factory was shipped and got my UPS tracking number. The person on the phone was helpful and quick. I checked and my package is on time. I can't wait!

I guess I should also note that while my worms looked a little sluggish when they arrived, today (Thursday the 11th) they are lively and happy in their temporary home. Near as I can tell, I had no casualties in shipping.

Also, it does look like I got the full amount of worms I ordered. I've heard horror stories of orders being low on worms and excessive on packing peat moss. Mine, however, looked great.

I ordered my 2000 worms and the problem with Uncle Jim's was they were to efficient. My worms got here two days before I thought they would be here. I had to rush and get my worm bed together. I opened up their unique worm holder and all 2000 of my worms were just smiling and ready to go. It has been two weeks and all is well.

I ordered worms from Uncle Jim's worm farm December 17, 2009 and as per thier advertizment, expected the shipment within the week. I called on the following monday 1-4-2010 and was told the worms were shipped that same day. I included my e-mail address and asked them to contact me if there was any problem. Best if they had I would not have to stay home waiting all week. So. tuesday I went to a movie in the middle of the day and lo and behold The mail person had left a delivery notice in the mailbox. anyway, I got the worms today and they seem o.k.

I bought 2000 red wigglers with the 2 day free shipping. WOW did they arrive fast. I received my USPS tracking number on Sunday and my worms were on its way from NJ to Denver. It is now Monday afternoon and I have my worms. Good packaging and timely service.

All of them look good, no mites, 2 or 3 dead ones but that is to be expected. I will order again from Uncle Jim's.

Uncle Jim Casing appears to be about as legitimate as John
Gotti. He took my fifty bucks and sent no worms and is unreachable by any modern communications. This is worse than poor business, it is downright criminal i.e. thievery! If he had trouble of some kind it would be understandable but to not respond to those whose money you have taken is exceptionally rude and "in your face"!!!
His actions will surely come back to haunt him!!! I certainly wouldn't advise doing business with this irresponsible rectal orifice!!!!!!

ordered worms a month ago and no worms came, emailed
and they said "they would re-ship"...talked to a UPS friend and
he said" there is no evidence of anything being shipped"!!

I ordered the worm hobby kit to produce worms to feed to my reptiles. The kit arrived in good time, with a nice pile of heathly-looking worms. I set it up according to the instructions, and 2 months later I have so many worms I don't know what to do with them all! They are robust and lively and are reproducing at an incredible rate - I am very impressed!

I ordered 2000 red wigglers and a "Can O Worms" compost bin on 10/15/09 with free shipping, worms were suppose to be priority shipping, still nothing...Called on 10/21 was told orders ship out on Mondays and should arrive Thursday or Friday, still nothing...Sent email, no response...I'm beginning to think I've been scammed! Wish I would have seen all this negative feedback before I ordered! Will keep you updated and let you all know the outcome...I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I waited for cool fall weather to order 2000 red worms. The order was placed on a friday morning and comfirmed by fri afternoon. I rieceved an e-mail conformation Worms were shipped on monday and I had them by wednesday afternoon. They were lively and the count looked good. I was happy with the fast service. I used pay pal maybe that helped?

I dont want to post negative until I receive my worms. My worms were suppose to ship Monday. I called today (Wed) to check on the status. They said they had not mailed out yet but they will mail them today. That could mean sitting at the post office over the weekend. Their voice mail box is full and not getting answers on my emails. No tracking sent with orders either.

One of the reason Im ordering is I am breeding my own so I can provide local buyers with worms without having to go through all the hassles with ordering the worms. My last shipment from another supplier was lost in the mail.

They where a little small but there is an advice guide also included with the purchase which is very helpful. Within this advice guide it explains how transportation can in fact lead to weight loss but they should quickly bounce back once introduced to a new enviroment with moisture and food. Since I was so skeptical much to my girlfriends dismay I decided to count the worms. All 2,000 of them and actually (Sorry Uncle Jim) I actually rec'd 2,048 worms (BONUS!). SO needless to say, I felt my first large order of worms went perfectly. I will be sure to shop agian when I get into those super red wigglers he has on the site! Thank you Uncle Jim for making this a simple, safe inexpensive priocess for me! My garden and the fish of upstate NY also thank you!

I ordered red wigglers from uncle jim's and they came in quickly and alive. Worked out well! I've added them to my can o worms composter I ordered and they really are eating away.

My worms arrived very quickly and alive. However, I ordered 500, and after a few days of them being in my composter I looked in there and realized I'd only received several dozen, at most.

The website says "Guaranteed Live". It also says ship anywhere in the US in 2-3 days. I ordered 2000 red worms which took 10 days to arrive by priority mail and all were dead of course. Called and was told that they would ship out another batch and also confirmed 2 days later that it had in fact shipped out on Monday. Today is Thursday and no worms. Hope if fading that I will get exactly what I ordered. I will update once I receive the order.

I think the trick is to order worms when the temperatures are mild. I placed my order on a Thursday in April. The man who took my order was not very friendly, but not mean, just not a talker. He did not confirm my mailing address with me and I was a little worried after I hung up and realized it. A while later, I received an E-mail confirming my order and the correct address was included. He told me that they would prepare my order over the weekend and mail it on Monday. My healthy and hungry worms arrived in the U.S. Postal Service on my front porch on TUESDAY!!! The worms were packed in a mesh bag inside a cardboard box with a little newspaper for padding. Yea! for Uncle Jim's and my postman for getting them here quickly. I have had them for about a week and they are adjusting to their new home very well.

i ordered 250 red wigglers and three wire mesh composting frames for my classroom garden-the money was taken out of my bank account on march 9th-the worms arrived three days later, all alive, all healthy..the composting frames have never arrived-i have e-mailed them multiple times and leave daily phone messages requesting my frames or my money returned-nobody responds to either

I received some red wrigglers a couple of days ago and promptly tried them out at my favorite trout stream. the fish there are very picky and will seldom touch anything with a hook in it. Uncle Jim's worms are just the right size shape and color to trick even the most savvy trout. they fight to see who can be the first gobble up that juicy wriggler - no joke. They are the best!

First batch of worms arrived dead and after calling them they not only sent another batch but they doubled my order. They were very nice and willing to work with us to fix the problem. Thank you to all the people at Uncle Jims.

I see that someone from Uncle Jim"s worm farm tried to post a positive comment on here posing as a customer - that's really detestable. I ordered 1000 red wigglers and 250 super reds - they arrived late by about a week but they did arrive with some alive. The super reds were still healthy and are now thriving but the regulars were very dry - nearly all died. They are supposed to reproduce very quickly so I hope I will soon have enough to do the job. I have never ordered worms before but it seems to be a bit of a crapshoot - I'll look for a worm farm closer to home so shipping doesn't take so long. If they had been sent second day air they would have been fine.

I ordered a half pound of worms on a Friday and they arrived as promised the following Thursday. They were packed well to help withstand our NJ freezing temperatures, and are now happily devouring things neither I nor the birds want.

The shipped worms were quite a bit larger than I expected.

I have been odering worms from Uncle Jims Worm Farm for years now.. I have never had a problem, with my worms, since I am educated in gardening an composting with worms I understand that worms are not the most enduring creature, keep in mind that the worms are being shipped thru, HOT an COLD weather. An different circumstances, can cause death.. "Uncle Jim" was very helpful with information on how to compost an even sent various resources to me about using worms to compost my rabbit feces!! =] Thank You very very much "Uncle Jim".. I look fowarded to purchasing my next 2,000 wigglers, for my new addition To Happy Bunny Rabbitry "Sadie Jane"

Only wish I did some research here first before throwing my money away with Uncle Jim's Ripoff Farm. Never even received my order and honestly I don't think they care. Very bad people!
