I sent an email though their website and never received a reply back, worms arrived and were very dry but alive. I doubt that a pound of worms was shipped, hope they breed fast. I will go else where next time.

GREAT customer service!! I inadvertently entered my own shipping address for a worm farm intended to be sent to my nephews in another state. Jim was very understanding and helpful. Said he would send a worm farm to the corrected address at no extra cost. I recommend this site and will continue to tell all my friends with young children about the great service I received.

This company has extremely bad customer service - I wish I had done more research before I ordered from them. They don't provide tracking numbers so I have no idea when the worms are going to arrive (if at all). I placed my order on a Friday and they didn't ship on the following Monday like their website said they would. Since then, I have called twice to ask about my order status and try to find out when or if my order will be shipped, and each time I get a different person who writes down my name and phone number and tells me someone will call me back - but they don't call back. I am getting very close to disputing the charge on my credit card - I'm feeling extremely scammed since they took my money but aren't shipping my worms and aren't calling me back.

This guy is a total ripoff. I ordered 2000 red worms which should have been close to 2 lbs. The package arrived 6 days after shipping and total weight was close to a pound including peat they were shipped in. There looked to be around 200 worms. I emailed him that I wasn't happy but no response. I'll order elsewhere now.
Do Not Order from this guy or you will get burned!!

I am a newcomer to worms. I ordered worms from Uncle Jim's on or about 12/8/08 -- I missed that week's shipping date. Worms shipped on 12/15. They arrived in good shape (to a newcomer's eye) on 12/17. Appear to be doing well. Thanks Uncle Jim.

Ordered worms on 9/12, Jims said he would mail them on Mon.9/15 ,he did and they arrived alive and in good shape on 9/17. I put them into my worm bin immedately upon delivery.Bedding was dry ;on purpose; so I wet it down thouroughly before puting lid on bin. Sat 9/20 checked worms for first time , there were no worms on the under side of lid; surface of bin full of very alive and active worms which disappeared immediately;a good sign that they were happy where they had been put.

Thank you very much Uncle JImm for your quick and efficient way of delivery. Toms Sims Jefferson,Ma.

I ordered 2000 worms and vermipods.
The worms arrived late and dead and VERY ripe. I chalked it up to UPS error. The shipment was incomplete as well...no vermipods.
So far I'm not at all bothered.
I call and they tell me they will send out replacement worms the following monday. Vermipods arrive separately in my mailbox (alive?).
No worms.
I get a call from Jim personally (which I appreciated) and he seems very cooperative and concerned.
He said to email him if worms did not arrive by that coming friday (8/22/08) and he would personally express mail me 2000 worms.
They did not arrive (I suspect because they were not sent since it's now two weeks later) so I emailed (no response) and emailed (still no response) and called (no response).
I'll keep you posted how it all ends up...at least I was not called "simple minded"....yet.

Update:

I just received 2000 worms alive and wriggling. So no harm done.
neutral rating to offset my earlier negative.
The certainly need to tighten up ship.

Hi,

My worms arrived today in perfect condition. I've had a similar experience as vermifarmer. The USPS did a great job...personally delivered my 'live products' box directly to me. Uncle Jim's worms were packed perfectly, in clean earth, and are now in my bin, lively, healthy and happily surrounded by mixed vegetables.

I've ordered worms from PA before, but from another company. Equal quality.

I'm very happy with Uncle Jim's product.

I am a beginner at worms. I checked out the Uncle Jim's Worm Farm site and found it to be amusing and informative.
I purchased the Worm Ranch on-line and received it 5 days later.

The worms were a little slow at first, but I quickly followed the enclosed instructions and the next day they were true to the name Red Wigglers.

Three days later they are enjoying life as they know it, and I hope to order more kits, especially for the Grandkids, very soon.

I am well pleased.

Ordered from the website, the worms arrived a few days later and were healthy and chomping away right away. None seemed to be the worse for wear in the shipping. I think the previous poster was ill served by the post office. This is my first experience with worm farming and I am looking forward to it.

I have purchased worms here twice, and will return for all my worming needs. We have had a blast composting kitchen scraps for our garden, and the kids always fight over who gets to feed the worms.

I received dead worms after 2 weeks and several emails inquiring. I was charged 2$ more for shipping than the price stamped on the very small and dried out mailing box. The worms had mostly broken out and wiggled off to die. Those that hadn't escaped were dead or dying. When I emailed Jim, very upset, he responded that I was simpled (sic) minded and hiding behind a computer? and it wasn't his fault that the lazy mailman had left the worms in a hot truck all day. My postmistress had kept the worms off the last truck of their journey and called me at home to come and pick them up, allready too late. I assumed the shipping would be safe and would have previously been found to be satisfactory. Simpled minded of me.

I used Uncle Jim's website to place an order using my credit card and received an auto-reply email that it would ship out "within 24 hours." After a week with no delivery of goods, I called the toll free number to inquire and left a message on the answering machine. I called again the next day, sent an email, and even wrote a letter to the listed address to cancel my order as I was getting worried at that point. Over two weeks has gone by. My phone calls and email were not returned and the letter came back unopened as an "undeliverable address." Perhaps Uncle Jim is out of business? The transaction did not hit my credit card yet but I am monitoring that closely. I ended up making my worm purchase successfully from another vendor.
